How Did Jimmy Carter’s Grandson Help Leak the Secret Romney Fundraiser Vids?

(AP photo)

A leaked video of Mitt Romney telling a room full of wealthy donors that roughly 47% of Americans will vote for Barack Obama “no matter what” because they are “dependent upon government” has swept the airwaves since being published by David Corn on  the liberal site Mother Jones Monday.

The statement that has been most pounced upon is: “My job is not to worry about those people…I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”

But how does James Carter IV, the grandson of the former president, factor into the equation?

Jimmy Carters Grandson Helped Research Leaked Mitt Romney Fundraiser Videos

(Photo: Twitter/@JECarter4)

New York Magazine’s Daily Intel blog writes:

Credited as a “research assistant” on the story is James Carter IV, the grandson of former President Jimmy Carter, who has been toiling online as an opposition researcher and is “currently looking for work,” according to his Twitter bio. “I’ve been searching for clips on Republicans for a long time, almost every day,” said Carter this evening. “I just do it for fun.” But by connecting Corn with the mysterious uploader of the clip, Carter has uncovered his biggest story yet, one that could potentially affect the outcome of the election. (And get him a job.)

Carter told Daily Intel that he first noticed a portion of the video in which Romney discusses using Chinese labor while working at Bain Capital…

Additional pieces of the tape were then added to a YouTube account called “Anne Onymous” starting three weeks ago. “There was a minor uproar about it on Twitter when I found [the first clip], so I kept doing research on it and that eventually led me to be able to narrow down who it originated from,” said Carter. Via Twitter, he contacted the person who claimed to have secretly taped and uploaded the video, and then sought to help publicize the remarks. “That seemed to be the purpose of [the filming] — to get it to a larger audience,” Carter said. [Emphasis added]

Though Mitt Romney stands by the gist of his remarks (but admits they were not stated elegantly), Carter says he knew he had stumbled upon a gold mine.

“Any time that you can find a clip that strengthens the narrative already established, that’s what becomes a big deal,” Carter explained.

He reportedly added: “I’ve been trying to get paid for this but it hasn’t worked out yet. This might help.”

Yet another person who produces nothing material or of any value but, just lives to create information from raw data. No complete text, no context, just supporting a false “narrative” for his own political and financial needs. It doesn’t surprise me that it’s a Carter.

That dope grandson admitting that he spent his time looking for GOTCHA items…which in and of itself is funny…what a liberal thinks is GOTCHA is what we think is TRUTH…anyway…Little Jimmy IV isn’t working to better the world…only ‘make a name for himself” or “hissself” as he would probably say. Uh huh… well Congrats JIMMY IV – you’ve done it…you have also proven that STUPID runs from one generation to the next and THEN THE NEXT.

Interest rates for a new car was 21% and it was 17% to buy a new home. The wealthy loved Carter because they could go to any bank and get a 6 month CD for17.5 %. I hear ya, Woodyee. I remember it well! I’m just happy to hear Romney say what so many of us think. I think though, he ought to put a disclaimer in there that he wants to see the 47% be able to get off welfare and be able to join the 53% and he’s the one to make conditions so good by getting government out of the way so the private sector can provide jobs for them all.

Then point out that Obama is screwing up our foreign policy and the Mideast is on fire because of him!

What get’s me is that he thinks this is a “gotcha” video. Telling the truth has become so un-pc that even “telling it like it is” is supposed to be offensive??????
Mitt is right, if the only income coming in your mailbox is a govt. check, you are going to be afraid Romney is going to decrease that amount. In AND of itself, that is incorrect. I’ve seen nor heard ANYTHING Mitt has said about reducing social security benefits to those who paid in, and the same for Medicare. Those of us who worked a lifetime know that Mitt is going to protect these from the greedy hands of the DemoCraps who failed to put them in a lock-box for the future.
All those who have received $$ from the govt., including local, state and Federal workers + welfare receipients + a federal grant + taxpayer assistance of any kind are going to fear cuts so YES (no secret here folks) are going to vote for Obama to keep their checks coming in. The dirty little secret is that a lot of corruption has to be cleaned up so that a security safety net is available for those truly in need. Romney is a compassionate man though he does not publicize it but God help the corruptors, because they are going to be shut off the govt. nanny machine. Has to be done to provide for the Constitutional requirement of providing for the “national security” of our homeland and interest.

I think I would change Romney’s statement a little to “47% of Americans are receiving money from the government and therefore, a majority of these will be unreachable. However. many are disgusted with the present administrations economic, international, and lack of homeland security. These are the ones, we need to convince. Which is why I am here to ask your help for TV and internet commercial time, it will take money to explain the economics and convincing……We are so close in the polls, everyone counts”

Realize, the poor of this country are perhaps much more aware what happens after credit cards are maxed, spending (bills) excede income, and the Letter comes “Insufficient funds”, especially the x-middle class and newly poor. The last 4 years have revealed quite a bit to the people regarding govt. retirement packages, union pay, and lack of accountability. When costs go up the impact is hardest hit to the poor especially fastfood, transportation and addictions (tobacco and booze). Also, they don’t like the idea of amnesty realizing the open door policies so far have contributed to their poverty and the poverty of their children….the illegals are a fierce competition to their own employment off the books or waiting at the doctors. Mr Romney you might be surprised once these people get in the voter booth which name they will choose, if they even choose to show-up..

It is time to stop letting Obama play the race card. If something nice is said, it is called “patronizing” if something in opposition is said, it is called racist. Damned if we do, damned if we don’t.

Never mind it being the truth, and never mind that in Mitt wins, he can’t be president for just half the nation. He’s statement was right–he’ll never get them to vote for him so why bother.

Here at the Blaze you will blame the supposed messenger, maybe that will make it go away. In the real world, Romney’s comments will bury him. Claiming the statements are true won’t help. Senior citizens, military veterans, college loan recipients, disabled Americans, families of children with Down’s or Autism won’t appreciate being told they won’t take responsibility for their own lives.
Outside of conservative congressional districts and blood-red states like Oklahoma, telling the tea-partiers and the corporatists what they want to hear is political suicide. It won’t work nationally as 2 or 3 voters are lost for every one gained, and the candidate looks like a reactionary crank. Sarah Palin learned this and her reputation is ruined outside of the FOX crowd. Mr. Romney is infinitely brighter and educated than Mrs. Palin, but he will see he reputation sullied and his electoral future doomed just the same. The GOP lost the White House this week, probably the Senate, and if the moderates really turn on these statements, the House may fall. Priebus will be fired and the cry will be for more TEA. Politically tone-deaf.
