UPDATE: Is the Secret Video of Romney at Fundraiser Really Unedited? We May Have Proof Otherwise

Tuesday afternoon, the site Mother Jones released what was described as the “full,” “raw and uncut” video of Mitt Romney’s comments at a private campaign fundraiser, which has drawn immense criticism from both sides. The “uncut” videos leave out a critical portion of the speech, as Romney was beginning to explain his now infamous “47 percent” remarks, and pick up in an altogether different location.

Mother Jones released the two “full” videos of Romney with great fanfare. The site states:

“Romney is not the only one who has called for the release of the full 49-minute video. And we’re more than happy to oblige. The complete video demonstrates that Romney was not snippetized and that he was captured raw and uncut. Here it is, in two parts”

However, one simply has to watch the videos back to back to see that there is clearly no natural link between them. Below is our video, showing the final ten seconds of the first film and the first ten seconds of the last. These videos were captured directly as they are on the Mother Jones website.

The video transcribed would read:

[Romney]“We do all these polls — I find it amazing. We poll all these people to see where you stand in the polls but 45 percent of the people vote for the Republicans and 48 or 49–,”

This is where the first part of the video cuts out.

Part two picks up seemingly on a completely different subject: China.

“…about twice as much as China, not 10 times as much like is reported. And we have responsibility for the whole world, they’re only focused on one little area of the world, the south china sea…”

The topics nor the pick up points in the sentence are the same in the two videos. Romney himself claimed this video was edited and called for “the person who has the video would put out the full material.”

Mother Jones writes that the cries of selectively editing were “not true” and that Romney’s comments ”were shown in full.”

It should be noted that the clear discrepancy doesn’t necessarily mean Mother Jones intentionally left parts of the videos out. Perhaps the person recording the video stopped recording at one point and picked back up when Romney was talking about China — without the full context, we can’t be certain.

However, it seems reasonable to ask, why did the video cut out at such a crucial part? Where is the missing video? And why is this being advertised as the “uncut” footage?

These transcripts almost identically match the ones first reported by the Blaze above.

UPDATE:

The blog Legal Insurrection was able to get a comment from David Corn, the reporter at Mother Jones peddling the videos, regarding the missing footage. Corn admits there are, in fact, about one to two minutes that are unaccounted for.

“According to the source, the recording device inadvertently turned off,” he wrote in an email. “The source noticed this quickly and turned it back one [sic]. The source estimates that one to two minutes, maybe less, of recording was missed.”

  So, when Mitt is caught speaking off camera he is quoting accurate stats about a country growing more and more dependent upon the Government, but when Barak is caught off cam he reveals that he thinks middle America ‘clings to their guns and religion as a crutch,’ and its no surprise that the media makes much of the one and not the other?

  I agree. This video was released to change the national dialogue. Yesterday the media was telling America the Obama Administration lied to them about the attack on attack in Libya. 24 hours later they are talking about Romney. Sadly, everyone fell for this tactic.

  This video was edited?! That’s an outrage! Typical of the devious ways of the lefties to take the words of a right wing champion, a true hero carrying for the banner of conservative causes, an American who has spent his life espousing the fundamental truths of William F. Buckley, a man further right than any Tea Party member yet born unto this world would be edited to reverse their meaning! These videos were obviously edited to make Romney look bad.
  
  Few people have exquisite yet evil skill to edit a video such as to convey the exact opposite meaning that someone is trying to convey. One would be Andrew Brietbart – may he rest in peace – who displayed his editing skills with the Shirley Sherrod debacle. But it couldn’t have been him. The only other person I know of with the requisite skills and lack of moral compass is James O’Keefe.
  
  As far as I know he’s not in prison yet and is the only person willing and capable of this dastardly deed of this magnitude.

  Clearly Carters grandson was going to wait until closer to the election for greater negative impact and less time for rebuke. After all he had it since at least May. They needed something to detract from the Obamanation of current Middle East events forcing them to spring it sooner. This is quite obviously felonious illegal wiretapping (recording) and felonies are further compounded by releasing it to a third party, times several billion. How long must America suffer from the harm the Carter family has done to us? The worst poverty and misery of my life was the late 70′s under his nightmare grandfather in chief.

  When he was asked about the original statement attributed to him Mitt”I Built IT” Romney admitted that those were his beliefs.
  
  Theblaze copies a story about edited videos, as have all Republican websites, inferring that editing somehow means the quotes were taken out of context and do not reflect Mitt “I Built IT” Romney’s beliefs. They do this to get a reaction from their base.

  Mitt doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about. I’m retired and not yet taking social security. I have other sources of fixed income, what should be enough to pay income taxes. Yet I don’t and you want to know why not? Because my medical expenses are so high, due to spinal stenosis as a result of the type of work I used to, they offset a giant portion of my income. If I could get covered by medical insurance, perhaps things would be a bit different. Oh, and I am not collecting disability insurance either. So I’m not sucking off the government and there is no chance in hell that I would vote for Romney after hearing how little he thinks of folks like me.

  hey WineDude, I am in the same situation as you but from an operation to reset a broken leg that sent my immune system into overdrive and I do collect SSDI. Obama is setting up the system to crash by putting more people into the “System”, it is the method that followers of Saul Alinsky dreamed of when Bill Clinton was elected president his first term, when his NATIONAL HEALTHCARE plan failed and Republicans regained control of Congress he changed Welfare from a permanent state of life to a temporary one, he cut capital gains taxes enough to get the economy growing after some of the Reagan taxes were a little to high. Obama is doing the opposite since he owes his fortunes to George Soros and his desire to take down Capitalism in the world and replace it with his Open Society/New World Order (ODOR)…
  
  And he is doing it with a slicker talking president than Billy “Bubba” Clinton!
  
  And I believe that Mitt Romney may know more about living with less since it is a tenet of the Mormon Church to do two years of “Missionary” work which means you leave all your worldly possessions as Jesus had suggested and live off the goodness of those you lived with.. etc etc…

After watching the full video, I like Romney even more. He speaks the truth that Americans need to hear. He’s calm, even tempered, and polite to others. He speaks eloquently, without reading every word from notes or teleprompters.

He seemed concerned about the attendees listening too much to his speech and not getting enough to eat, before the waiters take their plates away.
He’s a great guy. He seems very genuine and very caring about others.
I’m sending his campaign another donation.

Way to insult millions of people like me that make 70k a year and support 4 kids and a wife. The government does not give me anything, but what is expected from me…..a tax payer.

Safe from Terrorist…..good roads…..decent public schools…..if you taking my money….Social Security when I retire….Medicare when I retire.

Why do we spend more on defense and not enough on Education, Job Training, good roads, safe streets……

I’m part of the 47% will will vote for President Obama, because Romney has no clue what it’s like to make 70k a year and basically have no savings, college funds and barley a retirement. This did not just happen under Obama…..it’s been that way for way to long for most of us and Romney spells disaster form the middle class.

Mitt is a rich guy trying to buy the Presidency. HE WILL FAIL!!!!!!!

  Romney is not necessarily talking about you…….how hard can it be to understand that? The government does plenty for you, whether you realize it or not. Under Obama, the government will only continue to increase and do more. If we can’t defend our country, our education, job training and roads won’t even matter, now will they? So in my estimation, a greater defense budget would be a good thing, comparatively speaking of course. You also say that Romney doesn’t know what it is like to make 70k a year and have very little savings? That my friend is complete lunacy. You don’t just start making hundreds of thousands of dollars bro…… You have to work for it and put in a lot of time and effort, which obviously Romney had to do to get to where he is at. At some point, he would have had to come to the 70k a year mark, give or take a couple grand. Oh wait, I forgot. Romney just went from no job or education to being a rich, out of touch millionaire because of the magical pixies right???   You do realize that last part about medicare, social security, and education are in fact asking quite a bit of government. The programs for those weren’t designed to become something that every American would be dependent on after retirement, but now the safety net has once again become a hammock. And education? So long as the government is willing to pay they are going to keep jacking up their prices to the point oil sheiks look reasonable.
  
  You really think the measly 30% you and about half the country pay in taxes would be able to get you all of these things? It didn’t work for the Europeans and their taxes are around 60%. The only reason it worked for as long as it did was the surplus of young workers adding in, after that the system was doomed to failure even before the various administrations started raiding it to fund whatever project they needed it for.
  
  There’s going to come a point where that national debt will come due and all those wonderful programs the government was never required to do for their citizens will go away. I wonder what it will be like when all the people are still clamoring for “what their government should give them,” when there is nothing left to give.

  Wow. Your story is similar to mine. My children are grown. We had no money to send them to college. Unfortunatley I made too much money at the time (50k) and they are white. I’m 54 now. I’ve been consistantly employed for 39 years. I received my Social Security statement in the mail this week. I DON’T EXPECT TO SEE A SINGLE DIME FROM IT.
  The only things I ask from my government:
  Fight my wars
  Build my roads
  Stay th f–k out of my business!!!
  I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY GOVERNMENT ASSITANCE OF ANY KIND!!!
  I AM TIRED OF PAYING FOR OTHERS HOUSING, FOOD, UTILITIES, PHONES ECT,!!!

  I’m on your side, but I can vouch that Man is not alone in making a whole lot of money and not being able to support a family. I work in an accounting office, and there are plenty of people who make $60,000, $70,000, even over $100,000 who can’t pay their bills. It’s sad, but true. And worse, most of these people apply for and get bankruptcy. Fiscal irresponsibility is one of the many diseases currently infesting America. It’s not right, but it’s the truth. Of course, personal responsibility can solve this problem – government cannot.

The obama media is making something out of nothing…we understand what Gov. Romney was saying and we agree with him. The media is doing their usual whining, trying to attract the attention of the uninformed and uneducated obama voters. What they can’t prove he said, they’ll make it up!!!! The usual bs….I say, Gov. Romney should emphasize the economy and his plans to assist the free market in creating jobs, so that more people who are capable of working will be able to make a living and in the process will pay taxes. A lot of seniors pay taxes…remember, social security and pensions are taxed….so hopefully Gov. Romney will prevail and the LSM will find something else to whine about!!!! Vote Romney/Ryan on NOVEMBER 6!!!

  Nice generalization about social security being taxed. It is taxable, but not every recipient is taxed. If you’re only income is from social security, it is highly unlikely that you will be taxed. Even if you have a pension and receive social security, you are only taxed if it reaches a certain threshold.
  
  As for saying what they can’t prove Romney said they’ll make up, by making that statement I sure hope you’re not one of the “all this for a damn flag” people or those “you didn’t build that’ people because that would be pretty embarrassing. That was all just things made up by people like you who only see and hear what fits their agenda.

When will the media – all of them – finally realize that the American people aren’t stupid, too busy to research or not paying attention to the election?
While the media is busy discussing the ‘end of a campaign’ or the ‘out of touch’ guy, Americans are fully aware that their country is in big trouble and will cease to exist if Mr. Obama gets re-elected.
The most discouraging factor is that the media, Hollywood and members of the new democratic party don’t seem to realize that they are helping to destroy the only nation the entire world has turned to for help, money and aid. So what happens to the media and Hollywood, professors and sports stars when the once United States of American becomes just like Russia and China? Where do they run now? How long will it take all of them to realize that their selfishness and greed forced them to give away the one thing they’ve taken for granted for so long…freedom. How long before they realize that they shunned and belittled the Conservatives, the Constitution, the flag, the Military and the United States of America?
Note to all media: This election has nothing to do with party (they’re both dead),. This election is between a one party, all union, government run piece of land, or a free Republic. There is no in-between, so the elites need to choose very carefully because your lifves will never be the same if you choose the third world dictatorship.

Am sure the folks whose relatives were forced to jump out of the Trade Towers, would have preferred those guys were ” rounded up.” There is a balance here.   Well, I know you’re a devout Christian. I’m thinking of 4 different groups. The early Christians that turned the other cheek when persecuted by the Romans. The Holy Crusaders. The Pilgrims that fled tyranny. The founders that defended themselves from tyranny. All you have to do is decide which group best represents your understanding of God and prepare to act accordingly. I personally can’t keep my mouth shut. I’m not about to run away, but I’m didn’t see anything godly in killing people, so I reckon I’ll be with the first group unless someone messes with my daughter.

Iwant to disagree with the guys on Real News about Romney.
1- they said that Romney talking out on Libya was wrong. New polls prove them wrong. They are starting to over analyze things a bit.

2- I believe they are wrong again on what Romney was trying to say. He was basically saying these 47% are not going to get his message about cutting taxes. They don’t pay taxes, so cutting income taxes will not effect them. Again they are eading too much into this stuff.

The left has to demonize Romney and the Americans who love our country because they have nothing of substance and will look for and “find” anything to obfuscate that Obama is ruining our country, creating more debt, overriding Congress and OUR Constitution. As a Tea Party person, we want LIMITED government as set forth in OUR Constitution. There is only a very few things a government must and should do (ain’t seeing much of that with Obama, are we?), and the States have rights to do other things. With Obama, no one but he and government rule. Wake up you who just don’t get it! Do not denigrate American patriots because you are blind and/or dumb but unwilling to inform yourself. Note, I am a well-educated businesswoman and you sound like a redneck which would fit in nicely with sharia law.

It’s obvious that there is a considerable gap between the two videos. The lady on the left has her jacket on in part one and off in part two. Even with the waiter blocking the view of her there is not enough time for her to take off the jacket and put it neatly on the back of her chair. Didn’t we have another tape once with a large (18 minute) gap?

Well so far everything the leftists have trotted out as slams against Romney have sounded more like endorsements to me. These “secret” vids show Romney saying pretty much ehat I think so this is bad for Romney how?

I really wish Rush was the head of the Repub party rather than the wussies trying to hamstring Romney. Take the gloves of and take no prisoners. The truth is a mighty and seductive thing – especailly for a truth starved people having endured 6 years of democrat lies (started in 2006 when Pelosi . Reid took over Congress)

Well, so far, Mother Jones has given Romney a HUGE BOOST by offering evidence that he is truthful and consistent – even behind closed doors, and that his beliefs are in line with the majority of Americans. So, if ‘team obama’ and obama’s state-run media had hoped that this would somehow damage Romney – they were wrong – as usual. Romney was already on his way to VICTORY, but, this little push from obama’s media is a welcome surprise.
