The Obama administration has already added over 11,000 pages of federal regulations to the books, and now a new report by the National Federation of Independent Business suggests there are another 4,000 on the way should Obama win a second term. If imposed, the 13 biggest rules would cost businesses a total of more than $515 billion over four years.
Polling has shown more and more people don’t trust big government and yet President Obama leads general election polling to be elected for a second term that will include extensive growth in regulations for Dodd-Frank, the health care reform, smog rules, food safety rules, auto mandates……What gives?
On “Real News From The Blaze” Tuesday the panel discussed how these regulations will affect small businesses and American competitiveness, and debated whether President Obama’s expansive policy plans for term two will hit home politically and at the polls this November:

Sep. 19, 2012 at 6:54pmMost regulations come about because some lobby or organization wants less competition and therefore wants their competition regulated. Regulations go against free trade and capitalist competition. For example, if a business pollutes water near their plant, as soon as that info goes viral, people would stop buying the product or would harass the company much faster and with more effect than when government finally gets around to fining the owner in court. Why are people buying cage-free eggs or organic beef? Because they care about the way animals are treated and what they ingest. Government regulation is not only inefficient, but a loss of our freedoms in almost every case.

Sep. 19, 2012 at 10:10amI love all these graphs and charts. I saw them on GBTV and hope you bring them all that you have previously shown and share them on DISH Network… it’s nice to DVR your show again! Seeing charts is great… especially that chart on people on food stamps, etc. Well, you know what I mean, it opens people’s eyes more. Unfortunately the more people on food stamps will be more people starving when they take the food stamps away. I hope neighbors and church’s step in and take notice. I’m sure they will. Thanks for sharing this.

Sep. 19, 2012 at 3:23amToo many regulations.
They want the freedom to pollute and maintain harmful work environments,
when they are not trying to sell harmful and dangerous products.
There a reason for regulations.
Name a few you think are stupid and I’ll listen.

Sep. 19, 2012 at 10:52amBe happy to. I’d issue a similar challenge to you. Prove that they work.
For example, the Deep Water Horizon had received awards from government regulators prior to the event we all know. Wall street and banking were full of regulations BEFORE the meltdown in 2008. The FDA regulates everything it seems yet you can’t go a month without Ecoli or Salmonella outbreaks.
Furthermore, your stance does nothing to address the cost benefit. You make no assertion regarding any trade-off whatsoever. By that logic, there is nothing beyond regulation at any cost and beyond any legal justification. Furthermore, you assign no responsibility to consumers. Ultimately YOU are responsible for what is produced in a free society. You don’t want coal energy, don’t buy it. Of courser we are not a free society thanks to folks like yourself. But the point remains that nobody is making you smoke or eat a big mac (yet).
Now, you start addressing some of these issues in serious terms and I’ll be happy to start down a list of regulations and tell you if/why they are inefficient, illegal, or unjustifed.
