On Wednesday, some of the co-hosts on the Fox News program “The Five” slammed TheBlaze’s exclusive report that suggests the U.S. State Department may be “actively considering” transferring Omar Abdel Rahman, also known as the “Blind Sheikh,” into Egyptian custody.

Some on the panel were opposed to even discussing the report, despite the fact that Fox News had been reporting on the controversial story throughout the day on Wednesday.

“This report is B.S. I’m sorry,” co-host Greg Gutfeld said. “When you say a source close to the White House, is it a bartender at the Hawk & Dove? I can’t believe we’re doing this story without actually having just a shred of a source. I mean, I know we got it from TheBlaze. TheBlaze is an entertaining site, but come on! Where is this coming from?”

Co-host Eric Bolling cited TheBlaze, and referenced a letter sent to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Attorney General Eric Holder from a number of GOP lawmakers.

“I saw the letter, I read the letter. But the letter said ‘there are reports.’ That’s a passive way — Where are the reports from?” Gutfeld asked.

Co-host Kimberly Guilfoyle, remaining somewhat neutral, speculated that there have been rumors in the past about negotiations regarding the transfer of the Blind Sheikh.

“We’ve heard that before,” she said.

“I’m sorry. You can’t pin this on an administration without an actual source. It’s not fair,” said Gutfeld.

TheBlaze has repeatedly cited a source close to the Obama administration. The source has asked not to be identified.

Mediaite tracked the verbal blows:

“For the record,” Bolling defended, “the administration, they have said –”

“They said it was garbage,” Gutfeld interjected. “Utter garbage.”

Bolling then bemoaned that he was “taking heat” from Gutfeld for wanting to talk about something that is “pretty darn important.”

“It is important!” Gutfeld responded. “I would like a source, that’s all I’m saying.”

Predictably, co-host Bob Beckel jumped on TheBlaze-bashing bandwagon.

He said, “The idea that this thing would actually happen is so ludicrous and ridiculous that it does not deserve to have a place here to discuss.”

Still defending his position, Bolling asked Beckel, “Do we not get in front of the news cycle sometimes?”

“No, you get in front of the right-wing blogs,” Beckel replied in a jab at TheBlaze.

  You have nothing but Glenn and the Blaze saying this is true. Fox is reporting the embassy attack as a possible connection to the call to release the blind terrorist. He has repeatedly told you to “never take my word for it”.
  
  I believe they, the Blaze, have a source but until I see more, I can’t take that particular wrinkle in the story too seriously, the part where Obama or State Department was actually negotiating this guy’s release.
  
  Quite frankly, if they were negotiating, you will never know if that was true until after the election. Unless there is a paper trail or a credible whistle blower and not the anonymous kind.
  
  If I was the editor at The Blaze (Scott Baker), I would focus on terrorism. Attacking our embassy to effect the release of a convicted terrorist is the story. This is the definition of terrorism. I’m reminded of the payments made to the Muslim pirates of the late 1700′s to not attack our ships and how that failed miserably as they kept asking for more until finally Jefferson sent the Marines in.
  
  We most likely will never know if the Obama/State Department was negotiating the release of the terrorist so it really is a conspiracy theory. And what’s the hallmark of a good conspiracy theory? No way to prove it.

  Usually GUTFIELD is the reasonable one. He’s only saying ” SHOW ME THE MONEY” … Beckel’s opinion counts for less than -0-. Bolling wanted to discuss it. Kimberly was neutral , don’t recall what Dana said. HERE’S THE DEAL….we just had the riots (sure, right) in LIBYA credited to a former Gitmo tenant who was released. I know in my heart of hearts that this “Release the Blind Sheikh” is a FLOAT… to put it out there so see the response. OBAMA will certainly try to ‘Release the Blind Sheikh”

She’s very capable and smart, but 1) ROMNEY doesn’t need our DEFENSE…he’s a big tough boy and knows what he is doing – and speaks the truth…and while ALL OF THESE PEOPLE mistake GENTILITY for WEAKNESS or MEEKNESS they have another think coming with MITT…just ask NEWT!!

  Chalk you dont watch the blaze tv do you? Glenn has had a couple of shows with some pretty high level folks that have been on the inside of the govt. They all said that the release would take place. Glenn didnt just make it up. I would put money on it happening before January 20. Any takers?

  Folks, I was raised in south Louisiana, so naturally, I want to know how many hundreds of millions of doallrs this release would mean to the Kenyan.
  
  Is it difficult to track funds in an emerging country like Egypt. I’ll bet an acount in the name of Barack Obama could be on the books in plain sight and never be discovered. or, simply number the account with no name attached.
  
  What other reason on Earth could justify turning this piece of human excrement loose? I’d like five minutes alone with him before he departs to Egypt to share some of his thoughts with me and a buddy of mine, Louie V. Slugger.   Harry Reid hints that “the word’s out that Mitt Romney hasn’t paid any taxes for ten years.” and that’s deemed to be important enough to be used as the basis for hundreds of media stories and discussions (including on The Five), yet an online news reporting firm (TheBlaze) reports that a source close to the administration is warning that the release of the blind sheikh is being considered, and Gutfeld argues that we ‘can’t pin this on an administration without an actual source. It’s not fair”? I would argue that TheBlaze’s source is at least as credible as Reid’s ‘word is out’ and that the potential release of such a dangerous convicted terrorist as the blind sheikh is a much more important issue to discuss than a claim that, if true, would have long ago had the IRS all over the case.

  I like Greg, but he has seemed to be out of sorts lately. I think of him as a conservative version of John Stewart – able to argue the conservative side while simultaneously bringing some humor to the table.
  Fox always had a liberal side, but most liberals failed to recognize that and they hate Fox anyways because Fox is the only station that isn’t overwhelmingly liberal – of course besides The Blaze now.
  Why don’t they think Obama would release the sheik though? Obama hired a slew of the terrorists’ defense attorneys. That seems a very… anti-American thing to do. I wouldn’t be surprised AT ALL if Obama released him after the election.

  I am aware of the show Glenn did with Steven Coughlin, Richard Poe, Andrew McCarthy and Danny Dannon. I know each agreed based on unstated reasons that the Blind Sheik would be released by the Obama administration after the election no matter who wins. I also know that a claim was made recently that Egyptian President Morsi was lobbying the Obama administration for the sheik’s release.
  
  On Monday’s show Glenn led with and qualified his anonymous source at the State Department that told him they, the State Department, are in the process of negotiating the blind dudes release.
  
  All this tells me is that it may be true. The assertion made by Glenn and others is still an assertion, not fact. An important distinction. I need more to say this is absolute fact. But I don’t think Glenn made it up.
  
  If the assertion is true and they decide not to release the sheik given the attention it’s getting, how would we know then?
  
  I suspect we will not get a smoking gun because if it is true they were negotiating and the brotherhood decided to turn up the heat with embassy riots, it unravels the Democrats entire foreign policy approach to radical Islamic terrorism. It means they’re idiots thinking they can pay them off to be friendly. Not to mention the murder of our Ambassador to Libya. Which brings up a lot of questions in itself.
  
  Hopefully, Obama will not release this guy. If he does, and he could legally, the price will no doubt be future blood shed.

  The Five is lightweight entertainment, at best. They gloss over the news of the day, throwing in their opinions, with Beckel throwing in his insults, and not much is ever learned from their banter. Gutfeld is a brilliant comedian but he’s no hard news reporter. It’s the equivalent of Entertainment Tonight for current events. I generally watch Real News instead. They get to the heart of the matter and usually have expert guests on the subject.

  is swirling the drain.They have nothing left but to insult their true

  expanding his show, It hasn’t been about them improving theirs
  own show ,they choose to insult the very news site that has
  raised the bar and has NOT bowed to the conformity gods.
  And it threatens their very existence .They can now add their
  name to the list, right next to MSNBC that does nothing but
  spewing rubbish in trying to discredit this site along with
  insulting everyone that enjoys coming here to get the news

  I saw this yesterday. Other than Beckle, Williams, and now Joe Trippi, this is the first time that the rest of The Five crowd disgusted me. Yeah, have been disappointed with some of their statements before, but this was absolutely disgusting.   Come on Chalkdust. Reporting a story from an anonymous source is not unheard of and doesn’t make the story a conspiracy theory. Harry Reid got on the Senate floor and said his anonymous source told him that Romney hasn’t paid taxes in 10 years and the mainstream media, the Obama administration and the democrats ate that story up never calling for the naming of the anonymous source. This story is entirely consistent with this administration’s actions, just look at the Lockerbie bomber fiasco. We now know that the administration had a role in that deal. Calling this story a conspiracy theory is you not wanting to pull your head out of the sand. It is people like you that will get Obama re-elected, putting an end to this great country as we know it.

  The Five was “meat & potatoes” for the first year and I would delay my “walk-in-the-sunshine” to watch the program. Lately, it seems the program is going “back-to-the-milk-bottle”. Other than 2 other states, we will be “falling-back” an hour so probably will not feel bad that I will “skip” The Five to get in my walk during “daylight-hours”.   No one in his right mind would want a valuable informant’s life to be put in danger, yet that may well be what he is calling for.
  Personally, I’d rather like to know more from this informant, if possible.
  Gutfeld must know that The Blaze’s credibility will suffer if this story is not true– but if it IS true the opposite will happen– in an exponential way.
  
  In the meantime Gutfeld’s reaction seems…well, reactionary. Not his usual humorous-yet-well thought out commentary.

  @dukielouie What is your “Truth”? Something through hearsay based off an anonymous source? Glenn tells people not to drink the kool-aid all the time. Just because you think or want something to be “truth” doesn’t make it so. Get us a verifiable source, and then the story has weight to it. Otherwise, it’s nothing more than sinful gossip that makes the entire website (which has good intentions) lose credibility (and rightfully so).

  @Chalk: I somewhat agree with what you’re saying. However, as others have pointed out, shouldn’t they be investigating the report to find out if it’s true or not instead of dismissing it out of hand? As soon as I heard Glenn say it, I immediately started searching for other sources (I don’t think I can call the State Department as easily, though I haven’t tried).

  You want to know my conspiracy theory on this? Roger Ailes or somebody gave the Five the freedom to slam Beck’s website. FOX employees know “where the buses run” as Ailes has said and it doesn’t seem likely anyone would discuss this on FOX without permission, even though it is only a wild rumor, and one that appears was invented out of thin air.

  fox is not trying to ‘hide their liberal side’ – they are hiding their neo-con side [although many would argue neo-con is a form of liberalism, or more accurately progressivism]. neither the liberal media nor the neo-con media can stand the libertarian media [such as some content of the Blaze] Which is why both FOX & MSNBC would keep any positive news of Dr. Paul squashed.   Glen has simlply managed to re-capture the 2pm west coast to 5pm east coast share that the 5 filled for about a year. The 5 has been losing ratings for the last 6 months, and when the Blue-**** brigade (whom I love to death) learn that they can get Beck (again) by pushing the channel changer arrow up 6 times the 5 will collapse.   I don’t watch FOX and their “fair and balanced” (which means 50% liberal crap as a baseline) “news” anymore. Not since Glenn left their network. No one still there has the guts to say what Glenn said, to report what we now know is the truth.
  
  They do have all kinds of time for cute little programs which give one the impression that there are two sides to every story, when there is actually only one, the truthful one, and they aren’t even able to manage that anymore because more and more I see the leftist point of view, getting the last word on their programs.
  
  So they’ve lost me, even tho I must still pay for their service. It doesn’t mean I’m going to watch them. They’re becoming just like the rest of the media and I won’t participate anymore.

  C’mon Gutfeld! Not all sources “close to the White House” can be named by journalists–If they were named there’d be no more sources “close to the White House.” This is obviously a case of “whistleblowing” by an official–We all know the Obama admin’s track record on treatment of whistleblowers…Source name or not, all you have to do is listen to the Obama regime’s denial statements and it becomes sickeningly obvious that they’re parsing their words WAY too carefully.
  
  The Blaze beat FOX to the scoop, plain and simple. That’s why FOX is losing me as an audience during certain times of the evening…

  Fox’s Worst Show – The Five
  This show does not come close to being credible. This format of having a representative of the opposing view is not believable on this show. Four to one to begin with. Bob Beckel, who references his recovering alcoholic status a few times per month, presents himself as a diminished individual (gives excuses for himself and seeks sympathy). He is such an easy target for the attacks (very often personal) of the four remaining panelists. I have often felt sorry for him thinking he is there to be a punching bag for the others. It is an unfair fight. Of the four I tend to believe Dana Perino the most based on her verifiable and high level experience.
  My point is that The Blaze is so much more of a legitimate source of information on political and other topics.

  How many times have we been fed BS, while pointing to some unnamed source and unnamed reports, and unnamed accounts, etc etc etc… and ended up finding out later, that it wasn’t true?
  
  A lot of us are just getting tired of hearing it all the time, and want some meat.
  
  Ok, if the WH source doesn’t wanna be identified, then fine, respect his/her wish and don’t identify him, that’s reasonable, but then it states that they have reports, and that’s it… reports from where? what reports? where can I check out these reports? etc…
  
  Give us more than just “we have reports” and nothing else, as if that is good enough, because frankly, it isn’t anymore.
  
  Say “we have seen reports from the Pentagon”… say “we have seen internal reports from the administration”… say “we have seen reports from “…
  
  Say they came from somewhere other than just plucked out of the air. That additional step isn’t a big step to take, and just include it.
  
  I don’t typically criticize The Blaze, but on that particular criticism, I can’t help but agree. We can get ‘good enough’ from other sites…
  
  You’re going to have to do better than this, The Blaze…

  Other than Sean Hannity, Fox News is mostly like the Nation, right of center. I like most of the folks on this show, yes even Beckel can be funny at times, but I watched this show in it’s entirety. The whole show seemed like everyone was bickering a LOT more than usual and there was no ebb & flow like there usually is. More shows like this one and I’ll make a prediction that Eric Bolling will have his own show on the Blaze in 6-9 months.

  Yeah, I watch Beck at 5 on my iPad and ( sometimes ) simonteneouslly watch The Five on tv. May be Gutfelt fears competition.. Good,, because from now no watching Gutfelt ever. I thought he was a true conservative and with us together we fight this so called ” untransparecy ” administration. I knew soon or later some of foxnews crew members will be intimidated or bought by Obama. By the way I used to support Gutfelt by buying his book and tell friends to also.   I think we should ALL remember that just a week or two ago it was revealed that FOX News donated more to the democratic party overall, with that being said my personal opinion (and why I quit watching TV all together) is that FOX News wants to be popular more than it wants to be truthful, and the traitor Obama’s administration has it’s ‘tendrils’ in almost all programming, commercials, even down to children’s programming like Sesame Street and Nickelodeon.   Why is it so hard for everyone to even see the possibility? Britain returned the man arrested from Libia for planning the Lockerbe incident. The trade as it turned out was to broker a deal for BP Oil Leases. Strangly enough a couple months later and just before Earth Day the BP oil rig in Louisianna has a blowout. There have been numerous Refinery Fires and mysterious explosions periodicly ever since all which seem to serve some strategic significance….

Kind of ironic that all news sources report things days and sometimes weeks after I have read them on The Blaze. They usually turn out to be true too, so keep up the good work Blaze. I know sometimes The Blaze may get them from other sources on the internet, but we can still credit The Blaze for callling attention to them. Too bad most news sources haven’t paid attention to Beck for several years now, bc if they had we would be in much better shape in the US and around the world right now. There are only a few people I really pay attention to for the truth anymore. The main ones I trust are Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and Michele Malkin. There are a few others but they are mostly around with talking points and not research. Thanks Glenn and staff.

  Ezekial 33:1-9 speaks of the “watchman on the wall” I think of Glenn as a watchman, and I believe he is inspired to warn, and some of that comes through the Blaze. It teaches and inspires. I don’t quite get the same feeling from Fox, and the 5 is an unwatchable, snarky, arguementative waste of an hour. I’m to old to waste what time I have left on earth to watch something like that.

The Five is still on? Methinks they may be feeling the pressure of direct competition from TheBlaze TV…more so now from Dish Channel 212. It will be interesting to see what happens when the Dish exclusive deal is up and TheBlaze is free to add on other cable providers. They know who ruled the 5 p.m. slot in cable news until he chose to walk away from Fox and create his very own network…and it sure wasn’t Beckel. Go get ‘em, Glenn….

Amazing. Harry Reid didn’t need to name a source for his claims about Romney paying no taxes for 10 years and they played that story for all it was worth. When the topic is about the administration, however, all the sudden they want some background information, like names, dates, voting records, political viewpoints, work history, affiliations and favorite color of the source. Of course the only reason they want all these things is so that they can discount the source as being reliable, “Well of course the source said that, in 1967 his parents best friends knew a guy that donated a kidney which was transplanted into the next door neighbor of an elementary school teachers dog groomer who owned a spaniel named Blondie… and we *all* know that Hitler had a dog named Blondie. Coincidence? I don’t think so!”

I sent this to the 5 as Glen exposed it. Now they question it. I would suggest the same group look at the chalk board from a year ago and compare it to the FOX map of countries on fire.

  I agree. I still tune into the MSM occasionally at work in our break room only to see how topics are being reported and the reactions, if any, of my coworkers.
  I used to be only FOX before GBTV. Then a mix of GBTV and FOX.
  
  I now consider FOX main stream as well because of the stark contrast between The BLAZE and FOX. The more I hear FOX personalities and contributors complain about the MSM, I am starting to be a little annoyed now that The BLAZE has more programming and great talent to offer as an alternative.
  
  To me, it used to be just FOX and the MSM. Now, it’s The Blaze and the “new” MSM, including FOX by default. Ironically, when I watch FOX now, I am only watching to see how topics are being reported there and it is so predictable now just like it has been so predictable with the old school MSM.
  
  When I watch The Real News, I am often surprised about the opinions and comments from the individuals around the table and I can’t predict much from them. With limited time and more choices, I don’t need to spend time watching sources where I already have a good idea of what and how the news will be reported.

He has some internal gripe with The Blaze, guess he is just a GB hater, there are plenty of them on the right. He will have to eat his words I’m sure, either now or after the election.   I love the Five but didn`t the Blaze use the info on Meghan Kelly`s story for the basis for it`s article or vice versa. If Obama releases the blind Shiek he might as well hang it up .It won`t happen before the election . If after the election it would be grounds for impeachment.

I love Gutfeld, but he is just Entertaining also, at least he didn’t interject some sexual inuendo about “The Blaze”, usually has a reference to a Gay bar.

  I enjoy Gutfeld too, I think he is a decently funny guy. After watching Redeye, I get the feeling that he just couldn’t believe President Obama could be that stupid. Let’s hope this site doesn’t get proven right. If it does end up happening, I hope Glenn Beck makes a surprise appearance on the Five just to say “told you so.”

  Mumia or this blind terrorist better not be released but, I agree that it will probably happen. I hope that the panelists are correct in saying that it will not happen. I agree that there should always be a named source to support the allegation but, that never stopped the Progressives.

  I enjoy Gutfeld as well, he’s funny. But as a “reporter” would he go to the mat to protect a source?
  Perhaps he might benefit from doing a “report” on the war on whistleblowers.
