Iraq Veteran Asked to Remove American Flag From Apartment Balcony

When a person has fought under the American flag, one would generally expect that person to have a deep and abiding affection for that flag. As such, if they chose to hang the flag outside their home, it presumably wouldn’t be much of a shock to the neighbors, given that person’s background.

But don’t tell that to the manager of a particular apartment complex in California, who asked a veteran to take down the American flag hanging from his apartment balcony on September 11th because it might offend people who “didn’t believe in the American flag.”

An Iraq war veteran was asked by the property manager to take down the American flag that he hung from his California apartment balcony for 9/11.

Amy Grossman, the veteran’s wife, said, “She wanted it to be removed so that it didn’t offend anybody who didn’t believe in the American flag.”

My flag flies 24/7 and has been for over 20 years with a spot light on it that is suppose to be on it when you don’t take it down it’s called FLAG COURTESY I also have a small white cross in the front of my house and an Israelie flag and a small American flag on my front door and the y will all stay there unltil someone else is paying my bills for me otherwise don’t tell me what to do bgecause I will say talk to the hand cause the face anin’t listening.

  I fly my flag on special occasions but do not leave it out because of the lighting requirement. My neighbor has a lighted area for his flag. We should all be proud of our country and fly the flag at all possible opportunities. This should be a right that is allowed by law.

  I pledge allegiance to the flag of The United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation, under God with liberty and justice for all… There will never be a more beautiful pledge and that can not possibly offend anyone. If it does then they are exactly what this country fought against. Our soil has blood in it for the sake of this beautiful flag to hang high and demand respect.

  No people, it is NOT time for them to sue…there is no REASON to sue….it ties up the court system and gives those who seek to oppress us, time to do just that….what it IS time for, it a MASS DEMONSTRATION to protest this anti-American act of suppression of the man’s constitutional rights! Time for us to STAND UP and protest the way all the others do. Make “in your face noise” that we will not allow to be stifled by ANYONE!!   To me, any action that denies the show of belief & love of our country is a direct attack of the American way of life. Any that would do so, do not believe in America & should be fought in court to stop such actions. If this is not done, America, by the actions of Atheists, Muslim extremists, Communists, Socialist, etc. will try to slowly & often not so slowly turn America into their favored image.
  
  I do not want that, I want the America I grew up in & love.
  If you are trying to change it, you are not my friend, you are not my fellow countrymen, you are my enemy & I will regard you as such. It is a responsibility to every America, to protect their country & I don’t take that lightly.

  I will fly my flag and i dare anyone to try and take it down. If our flag offends you pack your things and kindly get the hell out of my country. I live in a HOA and even they dont have the stones to say anything about my flag. let them all they will get is a get off my yard before i fill your a$$ with buck shot!   I am very shocked because this took place in Roseville, CA, a very conservative city just outside Sacramento.   Is their a country where if she were a citizen she would be proud of the national flag?
  If there is such a country, is that country perfect?

Loving it! I did the same thing as of last weekend but I didn’t hang it from a tree. Nothing wrong with that as I know of. This is still America right? I am glad you told that reporter off, she was wanting you to do or say something so she would have a story. Maybe I should hang my chair from a tree. God love you and your family!

  You got me wrong. My suggestion to display the American flag inside the window (if he wants covering the whole window) is not an idea of “hiding it”. It’s an option of displaying the flag and limiting the efforts of those offended by our Old Glory. They cannot tell that veteran what to do INSIDE the apartment.

Ahh another liberal weasel. A creature of darkness that seems a giant until exposed in the light. Now that the story is out, she will scurry back into the comfortable darkness denying she ever made such a request, and that the renter just didn’t really understand what she wanted.

I grew up in a country that was proud of that flag and proud of the men and women who served and died to keep that country free. I grew up in a country that NO ONE would have even suggested that that flag might offend someone or where someone would be told to take it down.

I am growing old in a country that is full of people who spit on that flag, who burn, defecate on and dishonor that flag.

The honor and respect for that flag, the service members who fought under that and the country that that flag represents have been replaced with dishonor and disrespect. And for what, illegals who honor their homeland first,? Liberals who hate all that this great country has ever stood for? Communists who want her destroyed?

America the beautiful. How I love this country. How I long for those days of my youth.

Truly, even in our times this story certainly tells a sad story. Can you imagine telling a Veteran that risked their life for our freedom to take down his American flag. I am wondering if the person that requested he down down his flag actually has any friends after this?

One, that’s not hanging over the balcony and that is his space to put what he chooses on it. Two, they like Mexican flags more in So Cal, which in my opinion is disgusting. Take the woman to court, he pays for that space and can put bright pink and purple furniture on it if he chooses, and an American flag. If it isn’t in his lease or month to month she can pack sand.
