Obama’s Favorite Course to Teach at the University of Chicago Revealed

According to a new report from the Daily Caller, President Barack Obama’s favorite topic to teach at the University of Chicago was — are you sitting down? — “Current Issues in Racism and the Law.” The President taught this course no less than 12 times during his 12 years at the university, while teaching two other courses eight and six times.

And if you’re wondering what the course name means, have no fear. Reporter Charles C. Johnson has uncovered this course description:

Note the assumption on the part of the course description writer (as Johnson points out, probably Obama himself) that institutional racism not only exists, but continues to plague the American legal system. From the Daily Caller report:

New York Times reporter Jody Kantor released other materials from the course in 2008 showing that Obama taught Bell’s work, in particular Bell’s interpretations of seminal civil rights case law.

An August 2012 analysis of the materials Kantor published, co-authored by a University of North Carolina law professor and a law student, suggests that the readings Obama assigned and the group presentation topics he suggested reveal his strong interest in Critical Race Theory, also called CRT.

“[T]he prevalence of presentation questions on the syllabus that were at the center of CRT suggests that Obama had been brought into orbit around key issues in CRT.” Obama, they wrote, also seems to have taught according to “a model set by many CRT scholars,” who prefer alternatives to the traditional Socratic method.[...]

But Obama’s views on the material he was teaching did leak out on occasion. Remnick quoted an unnamed former law student who said Obama supported racial reparations in theory, but found it unworkable in practice.

“He told us what he thought about reparations. He agreed entirely with the theory of reparations. But in practice he didn’t think it was really workable,” the former student said. “You could tell he thought he had let the cat out of the bag and felt uncomfortable.”

This degree of public information about one of the president’s academic endeavors may surprise some people. President Obama’s college transcripts might remain off-limits to the general public, but one area where his academic career apparently has not been left untouched is his tenure as a lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School. In fact, even since 2008, there has been an abundance of information about President Obama’s time as a lecturer, even from sources friendly to the President. For instance, one writer at the New York Times dug up a set of exams Obama used to set.

Granted, the fact that the president was a Leftist from the 1990′s through the early 2000′s is not news. However, precisely what variety of Leftist orthodoxy he espoused remains an open question. This little factoid may shed some light on that issue.

  One of the main problems about big businesses is the tax structure has and will continue to ham-string businesses with way too many ways government interferes. For anyone who has gone into business knows it takes way to long to start up any business with all the control regulations. Noah would have a very hard time trying to build an arc today with Americans regulations.

  If Obama was a leader, then he would have on day 1 of his presidency just given every black male 30K and every black female 100K for their reparations and then given every other man and woman 25K. Instead of the Stimulus this would have actually brought the country together… The Black Male would have resentment toward the black female, but 30K is better than nothing. If Obozo would have done this then Jackson, Sharpton et al would be happy as larks… The country would be growing and we could have saved about 300 billion from the failed big gov’ty stimulus.

  Somebody beat me to it as I found by searching for the word “favorite.” That’s what the headline says, but there’s absolutely nothing else about why they Blaze drew that conclusion. I guess they realize suckers will buy anything put in front of them (apologies to Hornz for reposting part of his comments).
  
  And the “reparations” quote? Another anonymous source trying to remember something President Obama thought 15 years ago.
  
  For some reason the term “Kangaroo Court” comes to mind. Even the National Enquirer wouldn’t run this kind of garbage. But then again, that magazine appeals to a more sophisticated audience.

  PDW, Not saying that we should repeal all of the rules and regulations to the point that people are more easily injured, and that air and water is being polluted again. I think that we are beyond a lot of that anyway considering how business was a ground up operation from the beginning of this country and has been a learning process all along. But, if the local, state, and federal regulators simply gleaned out the really idiotic regulations that require businesses to hire lawyers and technicians who study and advise because of these regs, then tax revenue for the various forms of government would increase.

  Now from inside the story. Taken from the first paragraph. It’s very easy to find, or maybe you should have read it in the first place.

  To further enlighten yourself you may want to put your cursor over those words highlighted in red then left click. Get the rest of the story then try to defend your position and the assertion of a kangaroo court. I love how his class outlines illustrates how he calls himself a professor, when he never attained that status. He is further described: While most colleagues published by the pound, he never completed a single work of legal scholarship. A further example of his professionalism: At a formal institution, Barack Obama was a loose presence, joking with students about their romantic prospects, using first names, referring to case law one moment and “The Godfather” the next. He was also an enigmatic one, often leaving fellow faculty members guessing about his precise views.
  Geez JZS, read the whole thing next time. Everything that I listed above, you can actually find further above in the story, or in those linked statements.

  On the actual subject of this report itself…Obama beleives in permanent reparation payments not only to US citizens but all of the so called nations that suffered under English/French/Old Europe Colonial rule. This is what he means when talks about redistrobution of wealth but what he has yet to say publically (at least) is that the wealth of the west is to be transferred around the world to those deemed worthy by the Global elitist cabal this regime is in constant cahoots with.

They’re for whoever wants big government because big government can be lobbied and convinced to pass regulations that allow monopolies and run small business out.   First of all I didn’t realize professors at Harvard got to teach whatever courses they wanted to, you know, their favorite courses. Really? If you say so, but it must be tough scheduling professors. That’s not the way it worked where I went to school.
  
  In any case you quote the Blaze as saying he taught the course “no less than 12 times” when the referenced article says he taught it 12 times. Where did those extra word “no less than” come from? Not from the source! Clever though. Maybe he taught the class 100 times?
  
  But but speaking of sources, where did the Daily Caller get this information about what classes President Obama taught? They don’t say. I thought all that was secret, but you believe it don’t ya! RJ, you don’t need sources if your hard news comes from Daily Caller, same as you don’t if you believe the National Enquirer. They found a course description, and anything else they believed.
  
  So in any case I take it you are appalled that President Obama taught a course on US law and the effect of laws on racial relations. I imagine it surprises you, but why does that bother you? Do you not think that’s important to think about when passing or approving laws?

  JZS, Okay, I’ll go with you on cynical. Let’s just bypass and forget any and all written by Charles C, Johnson, since you don’t care for The Daily Caller. Any thoughts on 0bama’s Syllabus and reading packets revealed above by New York Times’ Jody Cantor? Or, the writings by Stacey Marlise Gahagan, and Alfred L. Brophy regarding Reading Professor Obama: The Syllabus on ‘Current Issues in Racism and the Law’? I guess you dismiss as well the exams 0bama used that were also found by New York Times writer. Let’s just call everything BS and you win. Apparently 0bama never taught this, right?
  The thing that really gets me is that this is no big deal. The class seems to have exactly what I would expect it to have within it. What is it about these little things that throws you into such a tizzy? This is really minor BS. It doesn’t reveal anything about him that has not been long known now.
  And, no I am not appalled. Its hardly different from similar classes taught by others at other schools. I simply don’t agree with much of it, but hey, so what?   RJ, I simply don’t understand your objection to one of the premier law school in the United States teaching about the law and race, such as the 15th Amendment. I think that’s important, and don’t see that teaching a class in that as negative when someone is running for office. No matter.
  
  What really bothers me is that an anonymous source, remembering a couple statements decades ago, suggests that President Obama favors “reparations!” This guy is only confirming what Rush Limbaugh – your go-to for politics, religion AND science – has said about President Obama. He’s in favor of reparations! Never before has a President of these United States of America been accused of favoring reparations, even if the source was anonymous!
  
  Oh wait, before I say that I’d better Google. Oops! I take that back! A former President did support reparations! Oh my goodness, it was Reagan! It turns out Reagan signed a bill into law giving 20K in reparations to Japanese citizens interred during WWII.
  
  And what did Reagan say? He said, “No payment can make up for those lost years. So what is important in this bill has less to do with property than with honor, for here, we admit a wrong.”
  
  Oh my goodness! Not only did Reagan make reparations, HE APOLOGIZED FOR AMERICA! That’s inexcusable.

  JZS, Just what objection did I make to the teaching regarding races and the law. I simply said that I disagree with some of what I read. But, according to you none of what I read truly exists, remember. Its not there, all of that is false, remember? So, there is nothing to debate this time. Nothing written by The Daily Caller, The NY Times, or his former students in this story is true? Its all BS. Or, are you going to now pick and chose what you assert to be true in the story?
  I am well aware of reparations put forth by Reagan. Are you not familiar with the two times that reparations were made to African-Americans after the Civil War? Should this be something that this nation does every so many years? For that matter, what about the Germans and Italians interned by FDR during WWII as well? Oh yeah, FDR continued his Unconstitutional round up beyond the Japanese-Americans. All of them lost their property, businesses, and jobs too. When does it finally stop, or should it stop? Lets do it once every twenty years, or fifty years or what? You tell me.

  I don’t know how you can say that. Let’s see he probably taught 3 classes, one hour each, perhaps twice a week. See that’s six hours a week and then he has to oversee a grad student to grade the tests so that probably adds maybe an hour a week.
  See what I mean, that’s a whole seven hours a week, for a mere pittance. Now he spends that much time a week on the golf course and has made millions!

  The premise behind this ridiculous thoery and the fact that Obama taught it lays bare the fallacy of the claom that the Obama’s were not paying attention in Revernend Wrights pews for over 20 years…Black Liberation Theology shares the same basic tenet of reperations……The big picture about this man (and his associates) paints a very clear picture and it is anti American to the bone. The Dems and by extension the MSM that carries their tainted poisonous water have a great to answer for (for generations to come). My one true hope is that this lesson sinks in with the average citizen, in that the last 2 decades of Dem dominance on Capitol Hill have nearly destroyed the nation (and they did this willingly, on purpose). The coming election must be won by the GOP or the nation will disolve, tear itself apart while the architect of this downfall fans the flames from his safe haven in the WH.

I see a lot of complaints on this site. However the fact is that neither Romney nor the GOP can refute the argument that Bill Clinton gave in the DNC regarding why Obama deserves a second term. Bill Clinton is one of the few recent presidents who achieved a balance budget for our country.

Always remember the kindness that Bill Clinton showed at the DNC by giving away his secret of achieving that balanced budget. It is only one word, arithmetic.

  Obama has made many great achievements in modern history, he saved GM from bankruptcy while Romney said it should fail. However I shall admit that Obama had trouble articulating the reason why he deserves a second term until Bill Clinton spoke a DNC. Even one of Regan’s strategists said on CNN immediately after that speech that the election is no contest because Bill Clinton’s speech sealed the deal. Those of you that say the Republican Congress forced Clinton to achieve a balanced budget are wrong as well, although it’s an arguable point that maybe they held him a bit more in check than he would have been with a D majority in Congress.
  
  The truth is that from 1994 through 2001 Federal spending exceeded Federal taxes collected by 1.396 T dollars. The PROPOSED budget showed a surplus some years, but the ACTUAL year ending results never did. There were deficits each and every year.

You really do not have to dig very dep with the current WH admin to uncover dozens of contradictions, scenarios that are just plain rotten from the head down. The DOJ report yesterday (the internal investigation of Fast and Furious) cleared Holder of any wrongdoing and yet Congress was stonewalled for over a year and still has not recieved more than 1/10th of the paperwork they requested….when the time came to hand over the rest Obama envoked executive privilege. Now why would a President do that if the DOJ internal investigation cleared Holder (and Obama I bet) of any wrong doing ? That is just one glaring example that begs more questions than it answers. Obamacare is a complete mess and is in disarray (a state which all of us opposed to this bad bill were trying to tell everyone about should it be rammed through). The costs for the bill are skyrocketing while predictions show that many millions will still be without health coverage while a new segment of the population unable to pay the premiums (but ineligable for subsidies) will have no choice but to pay the fines ( and get nothing). The demogarphic that WILL be hit hardest by this scam of a bill will be students and young adults. Taxes will rise under this Admin at a rate that has no precendent in the countries history. That will kill any economic recovery, plunging the nation over a fiscal cliff.

And American law students actually get degrees after “learning” this garbage. Wonder why we are slipping economically? Students’ brains are stuffed with garbage rather than useful information to solve problems and move us forward.

Blacks elevated themselves as a group through churches, family and hard-work. And then the ’60′s civil rights movement hit. The Great Society. Blacks faced a fork in the road; either go the high road and stick with faith, family and hard work, or take the low road of government assistance and racial resentment.

Obama is a pied piper to entice people to the low road. And his still tooting his little tin flute.

Now American inner cities are rubber stamp ghettos brought to you by liberal whites and racist blacks. The coalition of hate, they get converts thru slick marketing (see, Louis Farahkan). Blacks are worse off than they have ever been since slavery. Yes, it looks materially better for them now in many respects (as wealth is redistributed to them), but in reality, their’s is a morally hollow existence. Drugs, alcohol, broken families, no education, abandoned children. You name it.

Liberal whites were slick at selling the potion. There are a lot of good black people. The courageous conservative blacks are outnumbered. Hopefully their voices will be heard. If the SHT F, blacks will not fare well (in comparison with the past when they ran farms).

  Pard, the evidence is in the fact that 1) This joker has always presented himself as a professor, which he never was, he was on the lecture board at U of Chicago, but never a professor and in fact, his fellow academicians never thought much of him due to his lack of interest in anything except getting elected to the Illinois state senate.
  2) After his first year as a lector, he was hailed as a “rock star” that everybody wanted to attends his class. After year two it was down to 70 odd %, the next years 30 odd %. To the point where he would be teaching only 13 or 14 students on any given day and those interviewed didn’t think much of his teaching methods. There’s more.
  #) While being paid to be a lector this ungrateful blowhard got elected to the Illinois senate where he commenced to vote “present” 124 times breaking an Illinois state record for incompetence.
  In closing, everything that has come out of the mouth of Barrack Hussain Obama has been a lie. All of them verifiable.
