President Obama was skewered by Univision reporters on Thursday for breaking his promise to enact lasting immigration reform during his first term in the White House.
“But it was a promise, Mr. President,” Univision reporter Jorge Ramos said. “This is very important, I don’t want it to get lost in translation. You promised that, and a promise is a promise and with all due respect, you didn’t keep that promise.”
Obama’s only response was that he does not have the power as president to accomplish everything he wants to, saying it requires cooperation within the other branches of government.
“I am happy to take responsibility for the fact that we didn’t get it done but I did not make a promise that I would get everything done, 100 percent when I was elected as president.”
At another point in the interview, Ramos called on Obama to “acknowledge that you did not keep your promise.” Find out if he did by watching the following videos:
In another exchange, a woman capitalized on Ramos’ remarks and told Obama that he has offered “many excuses” for his broken promises on immigration.
“With many excuses…you actually broke your promise,” a woman identified as Maria Elena Salinas told the President.
“What I’ll say is this, I haven’t gotten everything done that I wanted to get done. That’s why I’m running for a second term,” Obama replied.

Sep. 21, 2012 at 1:42pmEveryone is talking about the horrible job Obama did on Univision but the media doesn’t want to mention anything about Romney and the excellent job he did. He had the most enthusiastic support you could see from Latinos that attended and on all but one question he seemed to be talking to a friend with the Latino Hosts. THAT WAS ONE OF HIS BEST FORUMS, especially in front of a huge Latino viewership.

Sep. 20, 2012 at 6:46pmThey seem wise enough already. An election cycle ago this man promised to do something they wanted, that they should vote for him; we conservatives certainly believed he meant to do it. Only when he had both houses of congress filibuster proof, he spent all his time and political capital getting government control of the health care industry, something he didn’t run on. The Hispanic community expected results, and there’s a convincing interpretation that they didn’t get them solely because Obama wasn’t interesting in devoting any time and effort whatsoever in fulfilling the promises he made to get their votes, that the fact of the promise itself was and is good enough to ensure their loyalty to him. He basically treated them as if they were the African American community, and seems that was a mistake on his part.

Sep. 21, 2012 at 11:33amThe problem with fixing the problem is that there is no more problem. How do you buy their votes after you give them what they want. It is difficult to control the people you don’t have control over. Not all of them want to come here for a free ride. It doesn’t hurt, but the goal is to gain wealth and go back home, or gain wealth and stay here, and be able to live the way the Obama’s live.

Sep. 20, 2012 at 6:15pmOf course we all know that the reason he did not fulfill his promise while he had a supermajority in congress was that he wanted to save it for an election issue.
He doesn’t want amnesty….he wants the hipanic vote…and the best way to get that is to save this issue for this election and every election after this.
He believes that hispanics are gullible and they will vote for him if he says he wants amnesty while he is campaigning….when he had the chance to do it uncontested by the Republicans…. he didn’t.

Sep. 21, 2012 at 9:31amPROGRESSIVEPETE, You obviously did not live through those times with you eyes and ears open. I retired during Clinton’s second term. He was dragged kicking and screaming to the desk where he signed those bills that eventually straightened out a formerly run away budget. The very first bill he signed was a tax increase that was back dated to 1 Oct 93, the start date of the government’s fiscal year 1993. This was either late Jan or early Feb ’93. Another result of this law, he began collecting taxes on elderly’s Social Security benefits. Then there was a spending spree until the people of this nation gave him a Republican Congress in ’94 for the first time in 45 years.
I’ll laugh about it all that I wish you little twink. Clinton would not be known for any successes other than starting to over tax this nation, had it not been for the Republicans yanking his ass back into reality. Yeah, he generally gets the credit for it, and that always seems to happen regardless who is in office. Then comes along your little dumbass who has no real idea of what happened then. Yeah, tell me all about it.

Sep. 21, 2012 at 9:44amPROGRESSIVEPETE, Surplus my ass. That is a total myth. Back in his first term he was so busy spending down our treasury that I believe it was sometime in ’94 that he and his Secretary of the Treasury “found” an unspent trillion dollars. That he spent. If I recall correctly that was about the final straw that broke the camel’s back causing the Nov 94 win of the Republicans. Clinton then set about to do two things that is still effecting the nation today. By executive order he sealed our fate with this real estate collapse. The thought was that everybody had a right to own a home, so all lenders were required to lend to virtually anybody trying to buy a house. Sub Prime loans were one result and we are still paying for this mess and Freddie, and Fannie are still in a financial crater. Our nation is also in that financial crater at the hand of Clinton. Clinton did some finagling with CEO pay keeping that down to one million a year for a while. The then thriving Dot Com Bubble couldn’t pay enough to attract new CEOs and had to make stock options and other benefits to attract qualified CEOs. These Dot Coms started to wobble and the stock options the CEOs had were sold off, dumping them into a then fragile market. Then so many of those Dot Coms really started to collapse. The end of the Clinton Administration started to spiral us into another recession then. Bush didn’t start it, but had to take the blame for it. It was already upon us before he came into office.

Godfather is a perfect example of the liberal mind-set. No logic, or critical thinking skills, just pure emotion.
The question Godfather needs to ask himself is why Obama who had 2 full years with both the Senate and the House couldn’t pass these promised reforms. And then the next question is why is it that other Democrats, and Republicans who did not have both houses of the congress could still get things done?
Hmmm? Could it be that Obama who blames everyone else for every problem, might be the problem?
Critical thinking is a good thing Godfather. You might want to take a few classes, maybe read a few books.
