‘It’s Not a Lynch!’ Fiery TX Man Takes Down Hanging Empty Chair Representing Obama in Front of News Crew

The Austin, Texas man who hung an empty chair representing President Barack Obama from a tree in his front yard took it down Thursday in front of a news crew, but insisted the display was not a lynching nor racial in any way.

Swearing repeatedly at the KEYE-TV crew and warning them not to set foot on his property as he fumbled with the rope holding the chair up, Bud Johnson reaffirmed it was related to Clint Eastwood’s empty chair routine from the Republican National Convention.

“No it has no other meaning,” Johnson said when asked about the racial connotations of his display. “I’m not a racist, I don’t dislike any race….it’s not a lynch.”

By the time he took the chair down, Johnson had added a small American flag to the display. No flag was present when a photo of the chair was first published on the Texas political blog Burnt Orange Report.

Asked by KEYE why the chair was hanging from a tree, Johnson responded, “because it’s the only place I had to put the damn thing” and said he couldn’t put it on the ground because he likes to keep his grass cut.

“It has nothing to do with race,” he repeated.

Later in the day, Johnson told a columnist from the Austin American-Statesmanwhy he chose to take the chair down: “I decided to make the change because some people are stupid.”

Asked whether he planned to put the chair up again, Johnson replied, “Not unless I want to.”

Johnson previously told TheBlaze that he is a Republican and put the chair up to express his feelings about the president.

“I don’t support Obama and the empty chair and that’s why,” he said.

On Wednesday, Johnson told Burnt Orange Report that he didn’t “really give a damn whether it disturbs you or not.”

“You can take [your concerns] and go straight to hell and take Obama with you,” he said. “I don’t give a sh-t. If you don’t like it, don’t come down my street.”

JCROOK, THE THIRD ARCHON, Unfortunately racism still exists in this day and age. And, just as unfortunately it will remain with us for years to come. I’ve had the chance to see racism first hand starting with the likes of LBJ, one of your liberal Demi-Gods. You know, the Democrat President who said in the Oval Office shortly after signing the Civil Rights Bill, “I’ll have those n*****s voting Democrat for the next 200 years.” Keep worshiping him now, as I often see here on The Blaze. Not necessarily with your two names attached, but too many other well known libs here.
As for your attempts to falsely label conservatives as racists the libs would call me racist because I used to laugh at Sanford and Son when I lived in Florida. After all, that is the south. Should I go to Montgomery, AL and be overheard mentioning the word “bus” in a statement, some lib would scream “racist.” You guys have watered down the word racist to the point that you are absolutely vacant. This absurdity on your part allows the true racists to actually slip under radar and continue to do their dastardly deeds….practically unnoticed. You go about performing the wannabe victim hunt for those oh so coded words and messages to the point that tin foil hats come to mind. Stop watering yourselves down, and take the opportunity to see real racism. 1) I don’t really like LBJ, and he was a piss poor Leftist (kept us in Vietnam, which sucked up all the money for his so-called “Great Society” which turned out to be a “great hullabaloo about nothing done”) other than he was the critical cause of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 being passed, and yes, he did do it, like MOST politicians, for self-serving political reasons; but that doesn’t change the value of the law.
      2) I don’t, and have never said, all modern conservatives, or conservatives writ large, are racist. What IS true is that the modern Republican party, the more politically more conservative OF the 1.5 modern American political parties, IS the racist’s party of choice. And what is FURTHERMORE true, is that there is a REASON why almost all racial minorities vote Democrat, and it has everything to do with the policies of Republicans, which racial minorities don’t see as having their interests in mind. You can argue with that assessment, but they can argue with YOUR assessment of the value of their policies right back–ultimately, their politics is a subjective value judgment just like yours. And it really says something when VIRTUALLY NO racial minorities vote for your policies, if NOTHING else about the perception the policies send.

THE THIRD ARCHON, First, I have to say that I have far more respect for you than that idiot muck slinging JCROOK. I guess that I couldn’t help tying the two of you together considering your agreement above. But, I really shouldn’t have.
I have to agree with much of what you said. Since the passing of Reagan, the Great Communicator, too many on the right fail to actually convince minorities that the Republican Party is truly open to all. While wondering around here in town I do see an awful lot of 0bama bumper stickers, and those wearing his T shirts. They are almost all African-Americans. I’ve talked with a few, and for the most part they say they are voting for 0bama for a singular reason. That he is black. If I said that I was voting for Romney only because he is white, guess what I would be rightfully called? I was at the Mariel Boat Lift as I’m sure you have seen my mentions in the past. That resulted in a lot of future Cuban Republican voters. Having lived in Tampa for a number of years I also knew a number of Cubans who were almost entirely conservative. Granted, this is a minority within the Hispanic minority. But, you can’t paint them all into your corner.
You cannot with any honesty say that no racial minorities vote for conservative policies. But, only a precious few do.
I do understand your disdain with LBJ then. Even while in grammar school, then Jr High while he was in office, I had sense enough not to trust that man.

And you my friend are of that lower IQ that the NWO, the ellites, and the powers that be are targeting. IF you would take a larger look you would see that there hasn’t been anything that we could call “conservative” for years–otherwise we wouldn’t be looking at trillions of dollars in debt and if you would take another look in your own coveted party you would notice people such as: Senator Robert Byrd, Earnest Hollings, Cragg Hines, etc. etc.
The Democrat National Convention of 1924 was host to one of the largest Klan gatherings in American history. If you would STOP to look outside the box and stop believing in your left wing sound bites and propaganda you would see that your party has instituted some of the most damaging policies to minorities that were designed to keep them from succeeding in this economy. But, what are parties anyway? You really believe there’s a difference between the political parties??? And that “your’s” is the best! You are like Archie Bunker rooting for your bowling team! Unfortunately, racism is behind much of the ill-informed anti-Obama sentiment in this country and has been from the start. The Republican Party has consistently attempted to channel such ignorance to favor their side. They unleashed the celebration of ignorance with the nomination of Palin; they continue to fuel it with tacit support for every ignorant kook’s idea; from Birthers, to those who think Obama is a Muslim, to those who foment ridiculous views about Obama’s father and attitudes about America, to the dime store ideas of intellectual hacks such as Gingrich. They’ve expanded this practice now to propagate ridiculous lies, half-truths, and deliberate mis-interpretations about vital policy debates. They are walking a dangerous line. The wealthy interests pursued similar strategies in Germany in the 1930s and the result was the rise of Nazism. So far, despite those policies that I disagree with him about, Obama has proven to be the most calm, mature, principled, and intelligent we’ve had. The Republicans look like foolish pre-teens playing with dangerous weapons.
This doesn’t make me pro Obama…I’m absolutely not voting for him. The Dems don’t appear any brighter than the GOP. They just seem to peddle a LOT less fear…

If you spent more than 5 minutes on this site, you would see the love and adoration that conservatives have for blacks such as Thomas Sowell, Allen West, Tim Scott, J.C Watts, to name a few. @ WINEDUDE: NO, you’re probably one of the dopes who is voting for Gary Johnson or maybe ROSEANNE BARR ? Sounds about your speed.

      YOU never read Sarah Palin’s Books. You never figured out that SARAH PALIN is STILL the only person to take on BIG OIL and win;

as far as RACIST on that dope in the WH: WHICH RACE? HE’s BLACK AND WHITE …so which one?? Maybe it’s the Dismantling of AMERICA we PATRIOTS disagree with…ya think? OR The all-out effort to destroy America, our Economy, our Military?

BIRTHER? I don’t give a damn where this SOB was born, he did NOT grow up in AMERICA and all the people around him from his Mom to his Grandparents were COMMUNISTS as was his closest mentor, Frank DAVIS.

HE’S a gutless wonder who hides behind RACISM because he cannot explain his ‘gutting of America’…

As far as being a MUSLIM: HE talks like one, walks like one, went to school as one and knows -0- about Christianity. MUSLIMS are taught to LIE to get to their goal..total world domination.

SO you go on, little boy and knock the PATRIOTS and DECENT people of this country…Lucky for you we’re going to save this country so you’ll benefit…but other than that…you are a sad example of an American. YOU COULD NEVER speak for anyone I know.

Winedude make too much sense for most of you on this site so naturally you turn on him, much like you do with anybody that doesn’t 100% agree with you (compromise = defeat right?)

The worst thing that happened to the party of Reagan is the takeover of the party by the ultra-right wing faction. You have Romney twisting himself into a pretzel trying to please all the warring factions of his party – and the result is most of the people in the county have no idea what he actually stands for or would actually do as President. Not only is his numbers dropping virtually daily but the effect down ticket on key races in the Senate and House may very well result in losing a fair number of seats in both.

Nice job TP’ers, you couldn’t be doing a better job of tearing down the Party if Soros was paying you.

I can understand his frustration, the media has taught us that kids go in droves throughout our public property and destroy it all to voice their opinion and if anyone opposes it, the opposers are quickly reminded of civil and legal rights to gather and speak their minds? So disgusting and threatening behavior is dismissed and no one is ever named.

But he might not have done it for the hangings sake, but instead for reasons of presentations (no one who sees an empty chair just sitting in a yard is going to recognize it as political satire).

Now I COMPLETELY understand how this COULD be interpreted as racist–my only point is that’s not the ONLY way it could be interpreted, and while in poor taste for the ambiguity about which any reasonable and informed person should have been aware, if the homeowner’s own words are truthful then he can reasonably said not to have INTENDED the racist interpretation of it, but rather a politically satirical interpretation, when he hung up the chair.

“You can take [your concerns] and go straight to hell and take Obama with you,” he said. “I don’t give a sh-t. If you don’t like it, don’t come down my street.”

Well I don’t necessarily condone it either, but when you start down the slippery slope of banning free speech,it’ll only gain momentum and pretty soon your protected rights are gone. The man made the choice to take the chair down because of the negative publicity and attention and that’s the way it should be.Not because its illegal.
