During a Thursday broadcast of CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” legendary hedge funder Raymond Dalio voiced a concern that both TheBlaze and Zero Hedge have raised in the past, namely, that global economic instability and desperation may lead to the rise of very frightening regimes.
“I don’t know whether we’re beyond the point of being able to successfully manage this,” the Bridgewater Associates founder said, referring to the global economic crisis.
“When people get at each other’s throat, the rich and the poor and the left and the right and so on, and you have a basic breakdown, that becomes very threatening,” he continued.
“For example, Hitler came to power in 1933, which was the depth of the Great Depression, because of the social tension between the factions. So I think it very much is dependent on how the people work this through together and worry about the social elements,” he added.
As reported yesterday on TheBlaze, some of what Dalio mentioned is already taking place. Consider, for example, the fact that Greece’s neo-Nazi party, Golden Dawn, has risen 10 points in popularity since May:
“[T]he popularity of Golden Dawn’s leader Nikos Mihalolioakos has risen ten points since May to an incredible 22%. More than 1 in 5 Greeks now support the neo-nazi party as the general disillusionment with mainstream political parties — who are seen as lying to get votes — grows stronger,” writers at Zero Hedge note.
Record high unemployment rates, crushing debt, revolving leadership — is it a surprise the Greek people have become desperate enough to give a radical party a second look?

Sep. 21, 2012 at 4:32pmAmericans think “It can’t happen here.” Even though it has already happened.
The powers that be have built a government AROUND the old US government (FYI: They don’t have to take down the old one first to get the job done.). We’re but one event/crisis away from flipping the switch on the ‘new’ one.
99% of Americans have absolutely no idea that this is taking place. Sure, they feel the inevitable pain that results from bringing collectivism into fruition, but they have no concept of WHY it is happening or WHO is causing it, let alone HOW to stop it.
Collectivism is the ‘easy’ choice right now, but just you wait until your new masters hand you the bill.
Oh, and it will cost you far more than money.

Sep. 21, 2012 at 4:03pmReparations exacerbated matters but Hitler was a minor/declining player when boom times ruled in the twenties. It was the “success” of the leftists who advocated the same lame liberal ideas O and the EU does now whose policies created a long-lasting depression that was the primary key to Hitlers meteoric rise in the thirties.

Sep. 21, 2012 at 4:02pmThere came a time in Germany’s history where the Nazi party and Hitler lost favor with the public and was almost finished as a party. The corrupt German Chancellor (Hindenberg) and Prime Minister needed a young charismatic person to fill the number two spot behind Hindenberg. They made the mistake of appointing Hitler to this position. The Nazi party sprung back to life over night. When Hindenburg died (he was pretty old) Hitler automatically took the top spot. It was then that Hitler had some of his SS set fire to the Reictstagg (sp) building and blamed it on foreign terrorists. He then brought the German parliament together and said he needed temporarily needed unlimited power including control over the military to fight the terrorism problem and that he would give the assumed powers back to parliament when it was safe again. He told the parliament just before the vote that anyone not voting for this transfer of power would be considered as supporting the terrorists and would be dealt with. The result being that he received a unanimous vote to transfer full government power to himself.
This was sort of wag-the-dog politics. We see some of that today on a lesser scale? I don’t know for sure but there seems like a lot of lies, deception and manipulation of the American public.

Sep. 21, 2012 at 2:04pmThe first thing Hitler did in his rise to power was to subdue the Bible believing Christian churches in Germany. Before the rise of Nazi Germany, the Christian Church in Germany was strong. There were some courageous Christians who did stand up against Hitler and the Nazi party; but it was too few too late.. Hitler and his regime didn’t make their changes to Germany over night. These changes were made incrementally. Here are some things that Hitler implemented to pave the way for the dismantling of the Christian Church in Germany:
While prayer in school had been obligatory the people allowed Hitler to make it optional. Prayer was removed from America’s public schools in 1962. Festivals that had previously been identified as Christian holidays were reclassified with secular names. This has been accomplished all over America. They took very aggressive steps to control and intimidate “Pastors” to incorporate and encourage various seemingly harmless pagan worship while discouraging churches from preaching the true Gospel message. Most American churches have already voluntarily surrendered many of their rights by unnecessarily embracing 501 C3 registration.
They supported and promoted Darwinian Evolution to justify the purging of the species. In many schools and universities in america, Christian creation is not even allowed to be taught in our schools. The Christian cross symbol was outlawed and replaced with the German swastika.

Sep. 21, 2012 at 2:57pmAlthough the destruction of the German nation by the parasites did play a role in Hitler’s rise to power, why is it so imperative for the Jewish Media to make it appear that the only reason Hitler was so popular was because the economy was so bad?
Did he not have any good ideas? Not one? What about the notion of the German people ruling in Germany? Boy I like that one… I only wish Europeans/Caucasians ruled in America again and maybe we could slow the complete degeneration of our Western culture down just a little.
Otherwise get ready for complete chaos! Of course the US Gov’t under both GWB and Obama are preparing.. While we talk about tax rates for the rich our very Liberties and Bill of Rights are being nullified before our very eyes.. lol

Sep. 21, 2012 at 1:48pm. In the early 20th century we saw the rise of mechanistic materialism and existential atheism which resulted in two major philosophies: nature vs. nurture both of which tended to see human nature as essentially good. Those that favored the nature argument believed that through eugenics and breeding, guided by the state, a better society could be created by a superior race (Nazis/race warfare). Those that favored the nurture argument believed a better society could be created by a superior environment attained through social engineering guided by the state (Communism/class warfare). Then there is the other dichotomy of Nationalism vs. Internationalism. Both the Nazis and Commies were socialists but the Nazis were National socialists favoring their Nations over all others and the Communists were international socialists seeking to eliminate all national borders and export Communism globally. Lastly we have the socialism vs. limited government dichotomy. As far as I can tell America is one of the only nations on earth to choose a constitutional republic founded on limited government nationalism. I don’t know that it’s even possible for any country to aspire to limited government internationalism. The Tea party movement is a manifestation of our uniquely American anti-socialist nationalism founded under God by Judeo-Christian principles that man is essentially sinful and therefore should be limited in the amount of power held by any individual or group.

They did to have a majority. They didn’t need it. They had a plurality & they maneuvered during 1 year & get absolute power.
A dictator does not have to get a majority vote (51% or more) to get elected & seize power.
So yes, I’m scared.

Sep. 21, 2012 at 11:35amit is interesting that Hitler is held as the standard of evil, when far more people were murdered by Communists. Not that I would say anything good about Hitler. The same conditions bring rise to both fascism and communism or more directly the control of dictators. The overlying philosophies are less important than the fact people willingly give up control of their own lives by giving power to kings, dictators, and Caesars.

Sep. 21, 2012 at 11:23amThank God that a senior citizen knows his history. I’m sure none of high school grads know this, about Hitler. Federalist Papers #57 by James Madison::::::The House of Representatives…..Can make no law which will not have it’s full operation on themselves and their friends, as well as the great mass of society. This has always been deemed one of the strongest bonds by which human policy can connect the RULER and THE PEOPLE together. It creates between them that communion of interest and sympathy of sentiments, of which every government DEGENERATES into tyranny. Few governments have furnished examples, but without which nothing shall be exempt. Every past or new policy, law and regulation is to be reviewed. If they ””DEEM”” NOT”” to make it applicable to the government ITSELF–i. e. THEMSELVES, then it is repealed for all of us……

Sep. 21, 2012 at 11:16amHow does it compare to Hitler’s rise to power. what happened after WW1 is that the victors broke Germany financially.
The only one’s breaking Europe financially are the globalist makers of the EU and their global supporters.
What I read in this story is the beginnings of a setup, to CREATE a singular leader of the EU – which is just what Soros and his ilk have been clamoring for, for decades.

Sep. 21, 2012 at 11:58amYou have no idea whats actually coming. The “talking heads” have pronounced on deflation, stagflation, hyperinflation, along with “what problem” or “we’ve got 23-30 years”. Either they are deliberately being obtuse, or they really have no clue.
The hedge fund advisor is correct, as far as he goes. But he is seeing only a party of the story because he is a specialist. There will be an abrupt change of government and it has nothing to do with the coming election.
First: look at Dear leaders executive orders; http://beforeitsnews.com/obama/2012/06/obama-has-signed-923-executive-orders-in-40-months-video-2221614.html
See what they are actually capable of doing? Now look at Europe. Yep, it’s toast! Now understand this NEVER IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD HAS AN UNBACKED PAPER CURRENCY SURVIVED!
It’s simple as that. The worldwide currency collapse is imminent which is why the Republican Elites could care less about this election all they want is to be let into the restocked survival shelters.
There is an excellent e-book available that starts with the worldwide currency collapse and goes on from there. It’s Hales “Death of Civilization; the Apocalypse Begins”. Look at the authors Preface, it reads like Dear Leaders executive orders. https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/gunny

History is circular, always has been. People are the same as they were since Adam and Eve left the garden. The only “evolution” of man has been technology and weaponry. We still fight over the same themes, we still run from freedom into the arms of dictators. You are right, the world condition is exactly the same as those preceding both world wars. The result will be more atrocity. But, maybe that is the way nature regulates mankind’s numbers. Medical science has been keeping us around for longer than is natural, so wars and natural disasters are the only relief valve…
