Why Was Paul Ryan Booed at AARP? One Word: ‘Obamacare’

Rep. Paul Ryan during a speech before members of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) on Friday was booed when he mentioned repealing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (i.e. “Obamacare”).

“The first step to a stronger Medicare,” the Wisconsin congressman said, “is to repeal Obamacare.”

Boos and cheers followed.

“I had a feeling there’d be mixed reaction, so let me get into it,” a smiling Ryan followed up. “It weakens Medicare for today’s seniors and puts it at risk for the next generation.”

Final Thought: Although we’re fairly certain those were “boos” springing from the crowd, there’s a distinct possibility they were actually yelling “Yooooook!”

A few elderly folks I know, cancelled their AARP memberships after Obama was elected.
They no longer trust AARP, because they are in bed with Obama.

  They lost 6 members from my family. It was clear that the ‘support’ only came from AARP officers too young to be members and in it only for the cash-cow the supplement insurance is for their bonuses.

  Most “elderly” folks I know are democrats. And most seem to love the great one also known as BHO. There’s a part of me that hopes they get there wish for another Obama term. Then they can see how absolutely wrong and stupid they were. And then there’s the other part of me that knows, beyond any shadow of a doubt, what an Obama win means to this great country. And sadly, I get this sinking feeling he’s gonna win again. There’s just too many stupid Americans out there who haven’t a clue what’s transpired the last 4 years.   Pay close attention to the toss up states. Obama gained 10 electoral votes since a week ago, he only needs 28, according to this map, of reaching the required 270. Real Clear Politics have been right on in the past elections and they are right on in this one.   I cancelled my AARP membership as soon as I saw they were in bed with Obamacare. AARP was there to enrich it’s organization at the expense of it’s members and I have been doing my best to pass this on to all the people I know who still have memberships. So far I have been able to sway 20 -30 people to drop AARP and join Generation America. Check it out.

  Such organizations taking advantage of our elderly Americans because of their gradually increasing impairments and thinking only from their memories of a better America of their youth. Many don’t use computers, Internet, e-mails, or social networks.
  
  It is OUR responsibility to enlighten them in person, by mail, with printed paper of the information they NEED to keep them safe from these wolves.

AARP is liberal lobbying group that finances its activities though endorsing (selling ) insurance to old people. It will make millions off Obamacare as Obamacare is not designed to fix healthcare but to channel money to the friends of Obama.

  I won’t quibble with any of your assertions. Governor Romneys’ only chance at this point is a sterling performance in the two debates next month. I don’t know that he will be able to pull that off. His performance in the R primary debates was tepid but they were so watered down because of the number of participants. It’s hard to know how he will do one on one. But that is his only chance.

The simplest and most effective way of dealing with the AARP is to discontinue membership and if you already paid, demand a refund. AARP is not a seniors group it is an insurance company that stands to make billions off of supplemental medicare insurance. You will need supplemental insurance because ObamaCare won’t pay for anywhere near the cost of treatment. Wait until 2014 when the monthly medicare deduction doubles and 50% of services are dropped. Then listen for the Yeah ObamaCare shouts. Then is too late. Vote Obama out now!

  I had a better way of dealing with their unwanted letters, I wrote across the form not interested in anything AARP has to offer then I stuffed it in their prepaid envelope and mail it back to them, it took several times of doing it but they finally got the message and stopped sending me stuff. I cancelled my AAPR membership as soon as they endorsed Obamacare and demanded my money back, I was born and raised in England and don’t want any part of socialized medicine.

I am also a senior. I have sent a letter to AARP stopping my membership and telling them why. It’s all about the money to them. It’s not at all about their members. Social Security is what I am entitled to. 45 plus years of paying into the system for my later years. It’s been destroyed by government stealing from the fund and by people on disability who do not deserve it. We need to get together as seniors and stop the robbing of Social Security.
I am also upset about Medicare. I called Medicare when I found that someone was using my social security money in Florida for treatment I never got. I have not been to Florida for 35 years. Medicare told me I had to investigate it, call the doctor who was using my number and get them to stop. They ripped off Medicare more than $25,000. Talk about waste and theivery. I also get breathing treatment supplies sent to me. It’s a $4 prescription at Walmart. Medicare is billed $498 each month for the medicine and supplies. When will someone stop this waste and thievery? It is disgusting and no one cares about it.

Break a hip? Too bad – that proceedure is going to a twenty-year-old who needs to repair a knee he twisted falling off a deck at a party. Need that medication? Sorry – you are no longer a productive member of the “collective”, so resources are not to be wasted on the likes of you.

Seniors should be absolutely petrified by the thought of Obamacare.

Congressman Ryan made us all proud. He is such an amazing, intelligent MAN that has no problem telling it like it is and won’t back down. Sometimes I think he welcomes the boos because he certainly turns it right back around on the idiots. aarp is and always has been in the tank for barry boy. Wait til these people get their new premium amount and the new co-pay on drugs etc then maybe just maybe more of them will wake up.

  I am an older citizen close to social security retirement. I also have a young daughter. I want the system to work for her when she becomes an adult in 10 years. I believe we need to reform the social security system so those who come after and have to either pay to the government or a hybrid system have something to fall back on. Older people are only worried that they get something for the forced payments they made to the current system. The problem is the current system money was stolen and spent by prior Congress/Presidents.

  My experience is AARP and its United Health Care unit is sending its money supporting the democrat party. Not sharing money with the Republican Party is the only reason I shopped for other medical gap providers and landed on Mutual of Omaha.
  
  I have experienced wonderful results with Mutual of Omaha GAP selecting the zero deductable “F” plan choice for the last two years.

  Pot- meet kettle. What is R and R’s position on. . . .anything? I would love to vote for Romney after 4 years of Obama, unfortunately I have no idea what he would do as president since all he has given so far are talking points and vague statements.

OK..all the patriots here

Can we agree that if there are enough ignorant people in this country who will actually elect this moron again, the Republic is finished?…that we will gradually become a European style socialist country?

If so, we need a plan, right?

I will refuse to continue to work in the private sector to fund the progressive takeover, I will refuse to work to PAY THEIR TAXES….I personally know several business owners who will layoff all workers and close their doors.

If business owners of all sizes quickly come together to show a united front against the war on capitalism, immediately move millions of Americans onto the progressive government entitlement programs, and leave practically NO REVENUE BASE their “policies” will QUICKLY be seen for what they are…

I say, why go at it SLOWLY, if we are going to become Greece….LETS DO IT AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. Let’s force their hand, let’s take the lead in exposing their “FUNDAMENTAL TRANSFORMATION”

I’m a firm believer in ripping the band-aid off as quickly as possible….sure, it stings, but it’s nothing like the slow pain of tugging at it slowly.

If half of this great Republic wants socialism, LET’S GIVE IT TO THEM IN SPADES!

  I live in a small town and so far, I’ve only seen one person brave (or stupid) enough to put an Obama/Biden sign in their front yard. I’ll bet it gets ripped, burned, stomped, or run over by election yime.

  Look, I’ve pledged allegiance to this country since I was 5 years old and I still pledge my life, my fortune, and my sacred honor to the cause of liberty, BUT if more than 50% of the people can’t see the trajectory that we are on, then the Republic is already lost…..I refuse to become a quiet victim of the uneducated. I would never suggest such a thing as I did above without having given it a lot of thought. IF WE ARE GOING DOWN, THEN I’M GOING DOWN SWINGING!….

  bravo well said they think all there medical will be coverd well wait till you see how many dr’s close there doors there handleing all the patients they can now they do medicare too help the older one’s not because the goverment pays minimum wage.

Ive seen the effect already where I live..I have a friend whose 86 yr old father needs heart surgery and now BEFORE he can have it he has to be assessed by a panel of Drs to see if he is worth the money!!!! Yea!!! Its called quality of life – they do that with peoples old pets at veterinary clinics!
