Egyptian President: U.S. Must Respect Arab History and Culture, Even if It Conflicts With Western Values
Newly-elected Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi granted a 90-minute interview to the New York Times ahead of his first presidential visit to the United States this week, laying out the changing face of U.S.-Arab relations.
Egypt’s first democratically-elected president, Morsi has been affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood for decades. In fact, according to the New York Times, Morsi even spent time in jail during Mubarak’s reign for his affiliation with the then-suppressed group.
“I grew up with the Muslim Brotherhood,” Morsi reportedly explained proudly. “I learned my principles in the Muslim Brotherhood. I learned how to love my country with the Muslim Brotherhood. I learned politics with the Brotherhood. I was a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood.”

The New York Times has more on how Morsi says U.S.-Arab relations must change:
He said it was up to Washington to repair relations with the Arab world and to revitalize the alliance with Egypt, long a cornerstone of regional stability.
If Washington is asking Egypt to honor its treaty with Israel, he said, Washington should also live up to its own Camp David commitment to Palestinian self-rule. He said the United States must respect the Arab world’s history and culture, even when that conflicts with Western values.
[...]
“If you want to judge the performance of the Egyptian people by the standards of German or Chinese or American culture, then there is no room for judgment,” he said. “When the Egyptians decide something, probably it is not appropriate for the U.S. When the Americans decide something, this, of course, is not appropriate for Egypt.”
He suggested that Egypt would not be hostile to the West, but would not be as compliant as Mr. Mubarak either.
“Successive American administrations essentially purchased with American taxpayer money the dislike, if not the hatred, of the peoples of the region,” he said, by backing dictatorial governments over popular opposition and supporting Israel over the Palestinians. [Emphasis added]
When confronted about essentially removing any counterweight to his absolute authority by replacing the military leaders with men of his choosing, Morsi responded: “We are behaving according to the Egyptian people’s choice and will, nothing else — is it clear?”
Morsi also praised President Obama’s decision to act “decisively and quickly” in support of the so-called “Arab Spring” revolutions throughout the region, according to the New York Times. Apparently, Egyptians just want “the right…to enjoy the same freedoms that Americans have.”
One of the major topics of discussion seemed to be the Camp David Accords, and how Morsi believes the United States is not holding up its end of the bargain. Responsible for decades of peace between Egypt and Israel, Morsi claimed the treaty is “unfulfilled” because Palestinians have not yet achieved statehood.
“As long as peace and justice are not fulfilled for the Palestinians, then the treaty remains unfulfilled,” he stated, though he did not clarify what that means in terms of actual policy changes.
Morsi also discussed his time in California as a graduate student, reportedly saying “Go Trojans!” with a smile.
Apparently the Egyptian president praised American work ethic, punctuality, and time management. When the translator went so far as to relate that Morsi “learned a lot” in the States, however, the president was quick to clarify. Morsi interjected, saying he learned a lot “scientifically,” before lamenting loose Western morals and “naked restaurants” like Hooters.

Posted on September 22, 2012 at 10:12pmIt is rediculous that the president of Egypt met with obama, but the primeminister of Isreal was not met. We do not need to have Egypt as an ally and let Iseral fall by the wayside. We need to be an ally with Isreal and have a strong relationship with them. We also do not need a pus like Obama as our president. I’m sick and tired of him and Hillary constantly appoligizeing for our great nation. Obama will destroy this country. When he was elected I said he is an undercover muslim and will destroy America from the inside out. And he has so far. We need his sorry butt out of office. We need a president with a backbone. We need to get God back in this country and back in our government. With out God this country we will fail.

Posted on September 22, 2012 at 10:09pmEgyptians can go pound sand! Anybody in our gov’t who tries to force Americans to bow down to these demons are in for a rude awakening. I will never respect psychos who disrespect the religions of Christians, Jews, or any other that does not kowtow to a phoney prophet and corrupt koran. These despicable humans have no hesitation or shame in murdering those who will not conform to their pathetic demonic culture. The day will come when they will be wiped off the face of this earth by a two-edge sword when the true and only Lord God returns. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.

Tell that jerk not to hold his breath. We have had it with that phony in our White House and are seething about all this going on. When America breaks bad as Americans together, after realizing what these phonys are doing, it will be something to behold.

We have nothing to do with his half-wit. Most of us do not like him nor Obama nor the horses they rode in on.

Do not tell me who to respect. When the Brotherhood acts respectful, they will get respect. I respect the Arab culture, but I do not respect you or your friends.

Posted on September 22, 2012 at 9:55pmRespect is a two-way street. It is not something presidents can demand but the hearts of the people who want do do it. No one but God will ever demand I respect anyone who does not deserve it. Even God Almighty will not be a respector of persons. President Obama and Corsi can kiss my whatever.

Posted on September 22, 2012 at 9:51pmThis fellow has made it abundantly clear that his views are thoroughly moslem brotherhood. ( I refuse to capitalize the “m” or the “b.”) He sets the condition of respect for arab history and culture, even if it conflicts with Western values. Horse feathers. Respect must be earned. He hasn’t earned it yet. Probably never will. He may try to sugarcoat what he is and represents by saying “Go Trojans,” but I’m not buying his statements. I suggest that he needs to show respect for our history and culture. Elect Romney.

Posted on September 22, 2012 at 9:50pmWell if that isn’t the tail wagging the dog. I trust that Americans will not listen to the garbage lies of this man who despises Israel and America. This Brotherhood radical wants our money, our freedom of speech and religion. And for all of the Liberal/Democrats; Forget about woman and gay rights. They don’t stand a chance in Egypt. Mr Brotherhood should worry about his own countrymen and teach them to show respect to America . But buy his comments alone I would say it will only go down hill from here. In closing I would say this respectfully to the Newly-elected Egyptian radical: How many Muslims does it take to change a light bulb? None, they prefer to sit in the dark and blame it on the Jews.

Posted on September 22, 2012 at 9:38pmIt is beginning to appear that the world has failed to once again respect US sovereignty and the freedom of others. Many decades ago we showed the world’s whack jobs we were willing to do what was necessary. They were called Hiroshima and Nagasaki, we changed the game for a generation.
Now it’s time for America to say to these bastards…..”say hello to my little friend, it has multiple warheads and will wipe out not only your BS but entire generational genetic codes for arabs.” Then we need to go ahead and set one off preferably somewhere for maximum collateral damage for max effect. It is not as if these rabs haven’t given us plenty of targets of opportunity. If the globalists are trying to takeover and the world population is too large then really… this shouldn’t be all that difficult to accomplish.

Your dino thinking is long past, the America you speak of does not exist, we do not have the political will power any longer to support the American value system so we are turning it over to the muslims.

Posted on September 22, 2012 at 10:08pmThere is something bigger going on here than a mere muslim leader spouting off so arrogantly about what America should do or not do, Egypt is rife with problems of its own, that leader must confront those issues first before criticizing this country but he is not, so why not? These words are part and parcel for how the world of nations and our own government is unraveling American power in the world. When we go down then the world goes dark. Many here don’t see the forrest for the trees, our national sovergnty is at stake. The world is pushing in from all sides and we stand with no allies to our name because even they can’t stand to work with us anymore. If muslims can have this much control, then its over, they can riot at will and hold the free nations of the world hostage. They cannot be bargained with, placated, cajoled…zero nothing. They demand more and more until it is they who sit in seats of power over the rest of us. Their political power rests on the shoulders of the zealot who will do what he is told to destabilize western culture and society. The only way this could ever trully be stopped is to….i hate to say it, but they must be rounded up and deported, those who fight our police in the streets must be neutralized. This of course will not happen, so the inevitable will follow suit.
