As tensions escalate throughout the Middle East, President Obama is reiterating his commitment to preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. However, he is also seemingly brushing off pressure to identify a clear “line” the country cannot cross as “noise” that he is going to “block out.”

That pressure is largely coming from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has for weeks been attempting to elicit a clear response on exactly what point it is acceptable to act to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

President Obama was asked on 60 Minutes Sunday: “You’re saying you don’t feel any pressure from Prime Minister Netanyahu in the middle of a campaign, to try to get you to change your policy and draw a line in the sand…?”

The president responded:

“When it comes to our national security decisions—any pressure that I feel is simply to do what’s right for the American people. And I am going to block out any noise that’s out there. Now I feel an obligation, not pressure but obligation, to make sure that we’re in close consultation with the Israelis—on these issues because it affects them deeply. They’re one of our closest allies in the region. And we’ve got an Iranian regime that has said horrible things that directly threaten Israel’s existence.” [Emphasis added]

Obama also responded to Mitt Romney’s criticism of his foreign policy as “a policy of paralysis,” saying: “If Gov. Romney is suggesting that we should start another war, he should say so.”

Mitt Romney, who was also interviewed on CBS Sunday, said Obama’s decision not to meet with Netanyahu “is a mistake, and sends a message throughout the Middle East that somehow we distance ourselves from our friends…”

Romney Press Secretary Andrea Saul added:

“Tonight on 60 Minutes, President Obama called Israel’s legitimate concern about the impact of an Iran armed with nuclear weapons ‘noise’ and referred to Israel as merely ‘one of our closest allies in the region.’ This is just the latest evidence of his chronic disregard for the security of our closest ally in the Middle East… As president, Governor Romney will restore and protect the close alliance between our nation and the state of Israel.” [Emphasis added]

In another clip from the interview, Obama says he knew there would be “bumps in the road” in the transition to democracy for so-called Arab Spring countries, but that we made the right decision to ally ourselves with those supporting “universal rights”:

Israel is not the only target for the Iranian regime, if the country’s leaders are to be taken at their word. In the last few days, they have demonstrated a willingness to pull the entire world into conflict.

Iran has issued multiple threats against the United States in particular, saying they will attack our bases, close the straight of Hormuz, and even start World War III if they believe Israel is preparing to strike.

In their estimation, the actions of the United States and Israel are inseparable, and Israel would never attack without U.S. consent.

“Nothing is predictable… and it will turn into World War III,” a senior commander of the country’s Revolutionary Guard reportedly warned.

Unfortunately for the GOP…Obama’s Israel / Iran position is the winning position politically. Most Americans are very leery about getting into another war. I think after the election…Obama will go ahead and commit us to yet another unnecessary war….he’ll do what the powers that be want…and they want the Iranian regime toppled.

  I’m a Registered Democrat of almost 20 years and i’m disgusted with how President Obama treats Ben Netanyahu and i’m sure i’m not the only Democrat who is not voting for President Obama over his Anti Views over Israel.   You are right to feel disturbed about Mr Obama’s statements and reactions regarding Israel. He has actually all but guaranteed war in the middle east with his appeasement and mixed messages.
  
  War between Islam and Israel is now inevitable, I believe.
  
  What people do not realise is that regaining land that was was once under Islamic rule is a Koranic imperitive. Muslims are REQUIRED by the Koran to recapture the land lost, and this includes a lot more than just Israel, so don’t expect this to end any time soon.
  
  The only defence is a resolute and combined ultimatum from western nations. Islam understands nothing else.
  
  The west has been suckered by the repeated statements that Islam is the “religion of peace”. It absolutely is not, as its entire history clearly shows. Tragically, it will now take a war to wake everybody up.

  Let me explain some things to you about Reagan. He bailed out Harley Davidson and the cold war was ended by financial collapse of the Soviet Union, nothing more. Reagan also increased spending to the Dept. of Ed.(something he claimed as a mistake). Reagan was probably the slowest president, in terms of progressives, but we still made baby steps in the wrong direction.
  
  What stopped countries, say like Lybia, is by being the big boy on the schoolyard. If you can learn how to think the way men in this country used to think; you take the first shot on the chin then you decimate. You never hit first, but you make sure you hit hardest and last. Then, others know not to mess with you.

  Wrong. Prime Minister Netanyahu has a point that the United States could possibly have avoided war with Iraq had a “red line been drawn” with a strong warning to Saddam not to attack Kuwait. Iran should be told there is a consequence if they cross the line and build an atomic bomb; otherwise, they will just do it.

November 6, we will block out the “noise” called Barack Hussein Obama.

I’m voting on one of the early voting dates. The lines may be shorter and move faster, plus if the voting machines break down, I can choose to leave and come back another day.

In 2008, I waited until election day to vote against Obama. I waited in line four hours.
One hour of it was standing in line in the parking lot, in the rain.
Two hours was standing inside the building in roped off zigzagging lines, that covered every square inch of floor space.
The fourth hour was standing in front of the voting machines that had broken down, while a repair crew made repairs.
The machines all went down, just as I was about to cast my vote.
It was worth every hour. Obama did not win in my county.

  I was saying, don’t wait until November 6, the last available date to vote or you may be forced to stand in line for four hours like I did.
  
  My county offers several days you can vote early. On the first date, if the lines are too long or the machines break down, I can choose to leave and come back to vote on the next early voting date.

The guy we have in the white house right now will never let it down! His agenda includes even going to the U.N. and beyond when it comes to subjugating his policies of socialistic reform, even if he leaves the presidency! What you have here is a power hungry lawyer who believes his mission is to serve his fathers ambitions! Let’s say anti-colonialism at it’s best in driving down the free market while distributing the wealth to poorer nations!

He doesn’t want us to drill for oil or even use any of our own resources, but it’s fine when other poorer nations do such! He doesn’t want the American public to have any say at all, given the debt that he has brought upon the People of the United States! Another four more years and you can bet even more chains will bind us without any way out what so ever!

When are we going to see someone who really understands our situation (the reality) and turn the ship around before it hits the iceberg and sinks??? Let there be no mistake that history repeats itself, but this time far worse! Let us pray that God sets the standards once again and brings the slaves of debt stricken out of poverty! There is no way nor hope without such!

We will enter another world war and you think the last one was scarey??? Like none other will always become even more worse than before, until he comes!

The truth of Obamas insanity and narcissism are fully revealed and made manifest when he refers to the calls of Israel as ‘noise.’

All that he sees, all that his insanity will allow him to see, is “success” in the Middle East for his efforts to reset relations with the Arab nations. He cannot hear Israel anymore, as it would interfere with the illusions of his minds false perceptions; he refuses to accept the responsibility for his failures and the policies that triggered off the embassy attacks, and whatever else is being covered up by his office staff and the administration.

Anymore I have a feeling we are seeing a case where Obama is only partially functional as a leader and his own cabinet is running the show behind his back; just as with the Wilson administration for a time.

Obama is unfit for his office, and the truth here needs to come out.

Does that refer to this; Israel has exchanged POWs with its Arab neighbors, and has released about 7,000 Palestinian prisoners to secure freedom for 19 Israelis and to retrieve the bodies of eight others.

How does releasing 7,000 prisoners help their security? Suppose we help them attack Iran and Iran captures some of their soldiers, what’s to guarantee they won’t give in to Arab demands which may harm our soldiers to get a release of their soldiers?

He wants, no needs, Israel to go to war with Iran. OWS isn’t working for martial law. Obama is pushing Israel to do something before Nov 6th or Jan 20th. He’ll do anything tho stay in the WH.

Just look at all he is saying, doing and not doing. Seems to all point in one direction.

I wonder if any of his EO’s say that during a time of a “new war” or “ones that involve nukes” or a “war with another Nation” (not the Taliban or Al-Qaeda) retracts any election or a new POTUS from taking office?

Did you hear him admit that the leaders in place now are a Democracy and that he is pleased, yet he heard noise from Israel. Again, the media was much harder on Romney than obama. They talked about Romney’s taxes and problems working with a Democratic Congress, nothing was asked obama about his two years when he had control of everything and couldn’t get things done. This was so soft on and pro obama, you blew it 60 min.

  Did you also catch the other thing he said? He said ” but that we made the right decision to ally ourselves with those supporting “universal rights”. Another example how Obama has made our Constitution irrelevant by replacing it with Universal Rights. He needs to be removed in Nov and just hope and pray that all the damage he has done van be reversed.

  Rights are universal. The Constitution doesn’t give them to us, it just promises not to deprive us of them. Supporting universal rights just means encouraging the other countries of the world to make the same kind of commitment to their own people. Why would you be against that?

Noise?!?!? We have a US ally being threatened by a historically hostile nation that has been the center of terrorist support and supply and our President says this is noise…

I suppose if one of our BMEWS were to receive an incoming Soviet or Chinese missile launch warning with an expected impact of 24 mins from launch, he’d just consider that noise too, huh?!?!?

This President is DANGEROUS to our allies, our nation and this entire world. How many days left before he’s voted out?!?!

  Israel is a representative democracy w/freedom for all its citizens. Arabs who stayed are Israeli citizens who are not obligated to serve in the IDF. They have representatives to the Knesset (Israel’s Congress). Israel is a first-world country amid the morass of muslim poverty, when it reaches out to those is slapped in the face. Israel would love nothing better than to be left to live and is not aggressive unless provoked.
  
  Arabs, on the other hand, oppress their own, kill or drive out non-muslims. They shell and rocket Israel DAILY, hoping to either kill a Jew for Mohammad or just terrorize others. They have no free economy, having destroyed Jewish-build greenhouses rather than use them to grow flowers for export.
