CBS Omits Clip From Broadcast of Obama Admitting His Campaign Has Gone ‘Overboard’ & Made Campaign Ad ‘Mistakes’

It’s an undisputed fact that the American people have a high level of distrust for the mainstream media — just look at the startling Gallup numbers released last week. A recent decision by CBS News to omit a portion of an interview with President Barack Obama in which he admitted mistakes and blunders in campaign ads is likely to add to the lack of public confidence in mainstream outlets.

In an interview for “60 Minutes,” Obama surprisingly contended that some of his campaign ads and contentions “go overboard” and have errors, but these admissions were omitted from the final interview that aired.

While the network left this portion of the president’s dialogue with Steve Kroft out, CBS did post it on its web site. Still, conservative critics are wondering why such a noteworthy admission was left out of the final interview.

After all, a candidate’s claim that he has put out misleading campaign advertisements that have “gone overboard” is certainly not something that would generally be cut from a broadcast interview — particularly when it’s a candidate who has prided himself on truth and transparency.

Titled, “False Advertising in the Presidential Race,” the clip appears on the CBS web site with an intriguing description: ”President Obama says some of his campaign ads might ‘go overboard’ or contain mistakes, but most of them simply highlight the differences between him and Gov. Romney.”

In this portion of the interview, Kroft tells Obama that fact-checkers have taken issue with both candidates’ ads. When explaining that some of Obama’s ads are misleading, the journalist also questioned whether these false statements to the American people are disturbing to the president. The response was fascinating.

“Do we see sometimes us going overboard in our campaign, are there mistakes that are made, areas where there is no doubt somebody could dispute how we are presenting things?,” Obama asked. “You know, that happens in politics.”

“Aren’t the American entitled to the truth? Or a better version of it?,” Kroft countered.

Perhaps realizing he had gone a bit too far in his admission, Obama steered away from the subject of campaign lies and turned the conversation back to a discussion about America’s future.

“The truth of the matter is, most of the time we’re having a vigorous debate about a vision for the country and, you know, there’s a lot at stake in this election,” Obama explained. “So is it going to be sharp sometimes? Absolutely. But will the American people ultimately have a good sense of where I want to take the country and where Gov. Romney takes the country? I think they will.”

Watch the un-aired clip, below:

UPDATE: CBS has essentially dismissed critiques, claiming that quite a bit of content was covered in the interview and that it couldn’t all be included in the network broadcast.

“We covered a lot of ground with both men and we’re happy to be able to put some of that material on our popular Web cast 60MinutesOvertime,” “60 Minutes” spokesperson told POLITICO.

The Fall season for CBS begins tonight. Boycott watching their programs. No audience, no Ad revenue, no business.

If you watch any of their programs this season, you are funding CBS’s campaign to mislead the public.

I’ll tell you exactly what we need to do. We need to make comments (tweets, etc) on their own territory, in a way that will break down barriers instead of leaving them defensive. This means no name-calling. The best way is to undermine the media (ala Andrew Breitbart) but pointing out discrepancies and omission in coverage, to get them to check out the conservative point of view insetad of taking media’s word for it that the GOP is a bunch of hateful losers. Say, for example:

Don’t take the media at face value. They reference polls weighted unrealistically towards Democrats – above even 2008 levels. And how many anti-Obama headlines have you seen compared to anti-Romney ones? This doesn’t say as much about the two men as it does about the bias of those who write about them. Read both sides for balanced coverage because it doesn’t exist in one place and both sides leave stuff out. How can you make an informed opinion on any topic if you consider only one point of view? You can’t. Thanks for listening.
      http://www.conservativemormonmom.blogspot.com
(I give you permission to copy this exact blurb if you want to use it; insert your own favorite conservative website. It is time. We NEED to get out there and counterbalance the bias in media)

      Excellent question!

OBAMA WAS his typical hot-shot self last night on 60 min. and compared to the Thoughtful, mature, dedicated responses of MITT ROMNEY he looked like a typical twerp. Obama would be okay in most circles UNTIL compared with a REAL PATRIOT, then he falls apart. SO, MAYBE there can be a comparison of the answers to one question by both. That question would be WHAT BIG THING (like a man on the moon) do you hope to accomplish. I hope BLAZE will give us that clip – edited for copy/send. The comparison is stunning. ROMNEY SAID simply: FREEDOM and then about that. Whereas dope-in-chief just meandered about not knowing what to say.
Obama doesn’t know what to say because he doesn’t give a damn about AMERICA, we are only people for his Muslims to Conquer and to bring down so our money can be given out by him in his quest to rule the world. It’s quiet clear on that broadcast. Those who have eyes will see; those who have ears will hear. I hope BLAZE does this for us. In fact, carry that idea out further: It might be nice to see FB versions that we can “share” to FB. I’m sure they can come up with versions of things that we can pass around easily. Great idea! I’ll check back and hope to see it!

The clip was removed because it doesn’t fit in with the Marxist agenda of the “chosen people” controlled media. If Republicans had the media on their side like the Democrats (Communists) there would never be a Democratic ever elected. I wonder how Republicans ever win any elections considering the uphill battle they have against the “chosen people” controlled Marxist Media.

I find it amazing that liberals that are supposed to be thinking after all refuse to acknowledge the lies and misdirection of this president. When I was younger we tore into both parties for not telling the truth even in ads. Today the liberal/progressives seem to be addicted to purposeful ignorance. With all of the information available concerning Obama and that is not even counting the birther issues I am surprised that Obama is not challenged even more. The Washington Examiner has run a series on Obama’s earlier life leading to the presidency with references and not rumors. When everything goes to pot liberals will not have plausible deniability as too much is known.

In fact….. if Romney had said this, CBS would have omitted the REST of the interview and just aired the admission. That’s okay. The people are no longer fooled.

I find it astounding! If Romney had made a statement REMOTELY similar to this. The mass-media would be declaring Romney “an admitted liar” and be asking the American people if we can trust ANYTHING he says. They would then declare the election “lost to Romney.” Unbelievable!

The biggest failure in the history of the United States presidency. A complete, utter failure. An administration totally void of any redeeming qualities. A disaster with no equal. Liberals can chew on Romney’s ankles all day long…but it will never change those facts. Failure.

Evil, you are dead right. What I find interesting is the fact that people seem to forget that we are not communist and what has been done in the past war’s ect has been to keep them at bay.

Diversity of body is fine but diversity of mind is not. The last time we had this much diversity of thought we had a revolution and we are very close to that now. In our finest hours we were all Americans defending our Constitution and way of life. But we have allowed the Commie Prosocialist’s to creep into our country and to subvert all that we have cherished in the past. I frankly do not know why we are still accepting this why are we letting 10 people run us into the ground and make decisions that we disagree with it is past time to stand up. So I say I will never abide by any UN agreements made by these people, or any other agreement that reduces my rights as an American as far as I am concerned we have no president and have not had one for some time. The bad part of being conservative is that we for the most part are peaceable because we have fought for our country and have seen the horror of War but if we do not take a stand now and through Obama and Obiden out and tell the UN to shove it the bullets will fly.
