Facebook Says Conservative Radio Host’s Ads Were Denied ‘In Error’

Facebook Says Conservative Radio Host Mike Gallaghers Book Ads Were Denied In ErrorFacebook said Monday that advertisements for conservative radio host Mike Gallagher’s latest book were denied “in error” and are now live on the social networking site, though did not provide details about why the ads were initially refused.

Gallagher said on Fox News last week that Facebook “rejected” an ad for his book “50 Things Liberals Love to Hate” because it contained the word “hate” in the title.

“The ads were declined in error and are now live. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” Facebook spokesman Andrew Noyes said in an email to TheBlaze Monday night.

Noyes did not immediately respond to a follow-up inquiry about the type of error that occurred, whether it was related to the title or what prompted reversing the decision.

A representative from Gallagher publisher Simon & Schuster did not immediately return a request for comment.

I guess that since the word “hate” was in the ads that the ads for “Personal trainers HATE him!”, “Language Professors HATE him!”, “Dermatologists HATE her!”, “Power companies HATE this!” will soon be pulled from nearly every webpage I see…
How stupid do they think we are?

damn right it was an error the the stock holder need to sue someone ass off till they fire some people. When you sell stock you sell yourself, and you better do everything to can to return your investors, investment. You want to put politics first don’t go public, it’s not your company anymore it’s not your money anymore. Which is a very good reason never to go public with company.

This is not surprising. It seems the Liberal social media sites have a convenient way of accidentally denying ad or other reason. I’ve been suspended by Liberals five times on Twitter. They start losing the argument and pointing out their flaws in thinking and they can’t handle it. So they get there little Liberal cowards to spam block you. Next thing you know you are suspended. As soon as that happens I win. They point themselves out as the coward.

Perhaps they realized that most of their investors are conservative/ conservative leaning and or the share holders said ” Hey, your stock is in the tank, and you are refusing money?!”
FB shares dropped $2.07 .maybe they took notice.

I have to agree with the huntress, they shouldn’t have to take any advertising they don’t want to. Glenn is very careful who advertises on his show. Not saying FB has any real standards, but let ‘em turn down the money, lord only knows why anybody on the right would do anything to give those POS money.

If FB is a private company, wouldn’t they have the option to reject any material or ads that are placed on it? I’m not saying it is okay but I do like to let the market do it’s thing. I’m curious if there is another similar site out there that has much of the same offerings as FB which if people began to switch it would give FB a run for it’s money. I just don’t want any court or lawyers getting involved and telling a company how they can run their company. I have a small gaming forum and I don’t want people placing inappropriate comments there. Yes, what I deem appropriate because I feel like you are coming into my home and it would be rude to tell me what I should allow said in my home. Just wondering what other’s might think and I am a conservative libertarian who believes in free speech. It might be I’m misunderstanding since FB is publicly traded now and there may be different rules that apply.

Good question. I would think that since they are a public company now it might make a difference. (As long as the ad did not violate social norms) I mean, what if the guy that wanted to place the ad was a stock holder. It’s literally his company too.

Good question and I don’t have an answer.

Of course they can, Huntress. But all they have to sell is advertising and the privacy of their membership, so if they get caught in a vortex of controversy, their bottom line could very well be affected.

I think this had more to do with the fact that Face Book shares have plunged in value. They are trying to save themselves from more controversy. Their share holders could stand to lose more money because of this.
