Obama Denounces Anti-Islam Film During U.N. Speech: ‘The Future Must Not Belong to Those Who Slander the Prophet of Islam’
President Barack Obama gave his highly-anticipated speech in front of the United Nations General Assembly this morning, posing a challenge to the international community that the roots of turmoil in the Middle East be confronted.
Considering recent events, Obama discussed the ongoing anti-American turmoil unfolding across the globe. In his speech, he declared that “there are no words that excuse the killing of innocent” and that there is “no video that justifies an attack on an embassy.”

After heralding democracy and prior to delving into the importance of free speech, Obama made it known that the anti-Islam film “Innocence of Muslims” is “an insult not only to Muslims, but to America as well.”
Despite speaking out against the film and reiterating that the government wasn’t involved in its production, the president took the time to defend the freedom of speech — even thoughts and ideas that are found to be offensive to some. Here’s s a portion of Obama’s defense of the First Amendment:
“Here in the United States, countless publications provoke offense. Like me, the majority of Americans are Christian, and yet we do not ban blasphemy against our most sacred beliefs. As president of our country, and commander in chief of our military, I accept that people are going to call me awful things every day, and I will always defend their right to do so.
Americans have fought and died around the globe to protect the right of all people to express their views — even views that we profoundly disagree with. We do so not because we support hateful speech, but because our founders understood that without such protections, the capacity of each individual to express their own views and practice their own faith may be threatened.
We do so because in a diverse society, efforts to restrict speech can quickly become a tool to silence critics and oppress minorities. We do so because, given the power of faith in our lives, and the passion that religious differences can inflame, the strongest weapon against hateful speech is not repression, it is more speech — the voices of tolerance that rally against bigotry and blasphemy, and lift up the values of understanding and mutual respect.”
The president did take the time to lambaste those who decry insults against the Prophet Muhammad, but who ignore insults waged against Jesus Christ and other symbols of religious importance.
“The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam but to be credible those who condemn that slander must also condemn the hate we see in the images of Jesus Christ that are desecrated or churches destroyed or the Holocaust that is denied,” Obama proclaimed.

Obama also told the U.N. General Assembly that he wants to resolve the dispute over Iran’s nuclear program through diplomacy — but that the time to do that is not unlimited.
The president says that time after time, Iran has failed to demonstrate that its nuclear program is peaceful and has failed to meet its obligations to the United Nations. He also says the Iranian government has been propping up the dictatorship in Syria and supporting terrorist groups abroad.
The president says, quote, “the United States will do what we must to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.”
This is Obama’s final international address before the November elections — one that critics were playing close attention to. Former U.S. ambassador to the U.N., John Bolton, had some stinging words for the president on Fox News this morning. When asked to grade the speech, he gave it a C.
“It was like a great big warm fuzzy blanket. The president comes out in favor of tolerance. There’s your breaking news,” Bolton quipped. “The problem with the speech was that it was infused with the fallacy of moral equivalency — that there’s sort of extremism and intolerance everywhere and it’s all the same.”

Bolton also noted that, while Obama did an excellent job defending the First Amendment, he seemed — at least in the ambassador’s view — to tell dictators that the U.S. understands their dislike for speech freedoms. This, Bolton contended, isn’t a favorable message to be conveying (a transcript shows that Obama said that the U.S. “recognizes” different ideas on the First Amendment, not that the administration “accepts” these divergent views).

For the first film by a Coptic Christian whose people have been murdered, rape, tortured and enslaved and even children are enlaved. It is a very courage act. The filmmaker was very afraid. As he should be, unlike many Americans who have ignored the plight of Coptic Christians, America should be ashamed of it self.

Much of that film about Muhammad was true; Muhammad was a womanizer, he had sexual intercourse with his 9-year old wife, Aisha, he ordered people killed who criticized him, and he was a Warlord, not a man of peace. Muslims consider anyone who reveals these facts to be attacking Islam, while any fair-minded person considers these statements factual. However, if you actually do some research and not blindly follow what MSM and this administration tells you to, then you would see that this is one of the main goals of Islam. They have already went to the UN trying to make it against the law to speak ill of Mohammed or Islam. And if you research you will see that they and liberals do not like freedom of speech.

Oh, it will not take a great leap in logic for the lawyer caste & clamoring authoritorians (both progressives & zealots) to assert that insulting Islam fits neatly into both categories. Insulting Islam (per statements from Muslims in general) results in a state of mind that MUST have the faithful Muslim challenge & attack the source. It’s not a choice (per Muslims). So insulting Islam means “you’re asking for it” (per Muslims, their apologists & enablers). Watch & see if this is how this argument for censorship concerning Islam is approached. I can guaran-damn-tee it. It’s simple, direct & allows the Islamicists to use Westen standards against the West. I believe that’s what a gambling man might call a trifecta.
This argument is being made at the U.N. for an international law. Hell, we’ve already signed a non-binding resolution with that entity. But isn’t this how progressivism sometimes works? Baby steps… easing into the water. The end is what matters: Zero tolerance. And I have yet to meet a progressive who can resist the temptation to tell other people what they can’t do.
This nonsense should be taken deadly seriously because there are complicit parties in the U.S. who will pursue this criminalization… for our own good of course.

Okay, I have consulted the bones, spread the chicken entrails and peered into my crystal ball. Come on. Recall how Barry O. has “evolved” his position on another hot button issue. This isn’t difficult to follow how this might “progress.” This could be a gentle scolding to get those fence sitters and wilting violets pondering the idea of which is more important: Some annoying right to free speech, or their safety and a kinder, gentler (and more oppressive) world.
Now, I’m not a 100% sold that Obama is a complete nihilistic loon. But hasn’t the case always been that the true progress is made with his underlings?
We will just have to settle for waiting to see how Barry and Co.’s stance on this issue “evolves.” And what’s really sickening is a large portion of the electorate (I doubt if it’s a majority… yet) will want to consider which is more important: Free speech or safety and feelings. What nudge will be needed to allow the wilting violets and progressives to advance “safety” in response to the threat of violent, emotional tantrums from Islamicists?
Oh, hell, this may just be one more matter settled “legislatively” in the courts. If the U.N. accepts the Islamicists’ demand, who are we to resist? That’s what I’m expecting. I mean, we are becoming more and more tolerant of gubment creep. As long as gubment promises to keep us safe.

Bill Clinton exposed the GOP during his DNC speech. Even a Reagan advisor said on CNN after Clinton’s speech that the election is no longer a contest because Clinton’s speech secured Obama’s victory. If the GOP wants to win, they will have to counter every word in that speech, which they can’t

The audience gets it: You’re a big fan. However, you seem to be very selective in your assessment. I don’t believe stepping up Predator drone attacks and trumpeting the execution of Bin Laden fit neatly in your charismatic diplomacy summary. In fact, that’s pretty damn funny. Your cheering from the sidelines is even more foolish when you consider the stink Obama raised from the left and right when he decided to target U.S. expatriates. Granted, the examples we have are Islamic zealots, but this still did not set well with folks on both sides of the political aisle. Hell, I didn’t care too much if we smoked ‘em (gee, I’m just like Barry O…. in that respect), but there is a due process argument to be made.
Barry O. is charismatic. That doesn’t mean his attempts at obsequious diplomacy have been successful in advancing U.S. interests. Boots on the ground… and bodies in the ground… might take any such summary to task. Look at where trying to play nice got us in Afghanistan: Convenient targets. So much for playing nice.
Barry has a problem with public perception: It’s okay to put OTHERS in danger, but his idea of waging war is to do so remotely and without so much as a “by your leave.” Yeah, who did the U.S. inform in Pakistan that Seal Team Six was gonna come a knockin’? Oh, that’s right. The information wasn’t shared so the effort might be a success. Rules of engagement are for the little people.

The GOP on the other hand has candidates who oppose the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and have candidates such as Todd Akin who is clearly out of touch with voters. By having candidates such as Todd Akin, the GOP is marginalizing woman. This is why the Dems are likely to win the house, senate, and presidency

Clinton and Obama are dynamic speakers with engaging personalities, but they are also both accomplished liars. They prompt a phantom war on women when Bill Clinton was a one man World War 3 against women. As to equal pay, it’s just another idealist idea. I would like equal pay with an NFL player but that’s not going to happen. Judging equality of outcomes is impractical and leads to dictatorship. The Law of Supply and Demand determines wages, not sex, race or victimization. If you are a valued employee you will get rewarded in proportion to what you contribute. So get into the real world where Obama and Clinton will say anything but where that doesn’t make one thing better.

And understand, I’m not a partisan; I’m as leery of the progressives with an R behind their name as I am of any nut job leftist. The problem with progressivism is (and this is not a well kept secret) it is dependent upon an authoritarian power structure. If you look at how progressivism advances its ideals, it continuously asserts the rights of the individual are ALWAYS subject to dismissal with regards to the grand advancements of those well-intentioned(?) busybodies at the helm.
Progressivism was the guiding hand behind the 18th Amendment. How’d that end again? Oh, well. At least we got the ‘war on drugs.’ Bonus!
Who is waging the ‘war on food’? Why, I believe it’s those well-meaning progressives!
Who believes speech & action can & should be categorized with such descriptors as “hate speech” & “hate crime”? Hell, the Islamicists MAY thank you & your ilk for cracking open the door & letting them squeeze their foot in. Don’t count on it though.
Zero tolerance approaches? Oh, thank you, progressives!

My DIL is an OBGYN and she said that only something like 5% of
rapes result in pregnancy. While it does occur, it’s rare in
comparison to consentual sex, .so I guess you high minded folks
have much to learn after all.

Posted on September 26, 2012 at 10:56amForgot to mention that DIL/ObGyn said that while 5% will get pregnant from rape, it’s still considerably less who will maintain the pregnance because of spontaneous abortion (miscarriage) from the trauma/stress.
It lowers it a percentage point or so. THEN when you look at the # of requested abortions due to rape, it’s only something like 1 or 2 % of all abortions that are the result of the woman having been raped.
Amazing how this stuff is so distorted. Why are libs so up in arms over THIS, yet denying medical assistance a child who was born during a botched abortion -or even partial birth abortion-is given silent agreement? THAT is the very picture of cruel on the most innocent of us and anyone who supports it totally inhumane. I wouldnt’ trust them with the health or life of my loved ones, yet that is what is set up with gov’t healthcare.
