Beck Speaks to 143,000 Catholics About Voting & Politics During Tele-Townhall: ‘God Will Not Hold Us Guiltless’
On Tuesday night, Glenn Beck hosted a tele-townhall for CatholicVote.org on the importance of Catholic voters in the 2012 presidential election. The event, which was moderated by Rachel Campos-Duffy, was held via telephone, with a startling 143,000 people dialing in to participate. During the discussion, Beck discussed everything from personal responsibility at the polls and social justice to the value of human life.
Beck began with the rise of anti-Semitism and anti-Catholicism that has developed of late, while highlighting the fact that these are both issues he’s warned about in the past. He then moved on to one of the central tenets of the Catholic faith that has been manipulated by the left — social justice.
“What has happened over the last 100 years in the social justice movement…there’s a fundamental misunderstanding of what social justice is,” Beck explained. “Social justice, as the pontiff would [see] it, is your responsibility as an individual to listen to the gospel and then act — go and serve.”
However, this is radically different from the worldview that liberals generally embrace. The radio and television host contended that the version of social justice that many progressives tout is incorrectly based on the government acting “on your behalf.”

Rather than allowing these values to consume the Catholic Church, Beck encouraged believers to stand up for their values. “The Catholic Church is a force for good,” Beck proclaimed.
Later in the discussion, a listener asked, through Campos-Duffy, what she, as a mother, could do to help the current sociopolitical situation. Beck delved into the importance of mothers in paving the way toward a more viable future.
“It is mothers that have raised the sons and the women that have changed the world,” Beck told the Catholic audience, highlighting the notion that this is the most important role a person can fulfill.
In addition to mothers, the popular commentator encouraged every individual to get involved and to speak up for their Catholic faith. The responsibility for everyone, he said, is a great burden.
“God will not hold us guiltless. If you look at what is happening in the Middle East — there is a clear vision of good and a clear vision of evil,” he proclaimed. “You weren’t born at this time for no reason.”
Beck also went on to discuss wealth and his views on why so many mistakingly assume that the Republican Party is merely a political movement exclusively for the rich.
“Nothing on earth will turn this election except for the American people turning to God with all of your hope, all of your strength, everything you have,” he said toward the end of the discussion.

Posted on September 26, 2012 at 7:26pmThe “get away from me people”, actually, failed in the area of “doing unto the least of these”
Matt 25:45 ….”‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
Catholics tend to be pretty good about covering these especially through financing nuns and priests, except that in the USA they have allowed the government through taxes and welfare. The failure here is to believe it is a “Christian act” However, it is not done in the name of Jesus or through generosity of heart but through compulsion of taxes.
All Christians: As the government has taken over more of what the church use to do; such as educating the children, holding man accountable for supporting their wives and children, sexual immorality, opportunities for real home visits and fellowship, medicine, generosity, employment (prospering the honest). Uncle Sam is now the provider–father and husband to many, and scapegoat to the perpetual man-child who won’t be responsible.. Morality is no longer being based on scripture but on voting those who support and approve of sexual sin, laziness, femine rebellion, and abandonment of our created purpose for the power, esteem, applause, possessions, pleasures, lusts, and filthy $$$. We have become a nation doing what is “right in our own eyes”. We are filled with lustful eyes/ flesh, & PRIDE.

What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,” but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead. Indeed someone might say, “You have faith and I have works.” Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works.

Posted on September 26, 2012 at 4:57pmAs a Catholic Republican, when I talk to Catholic Democrats who are concerned about the Obama administration’s threat to religious liberty (or “war on religious liberty”), I say this: If you’re a Democrat who can’t vote for a Republican, then just do a “write-in” vote. When you go to vote, just write in “Hillary Clinton.” She would have made a much better president than Obama, anyway. Here’s Hillary Clinton on July 30, 2012: “Religious freedom is also about the right of people to think what they want, say what they think, and come together in fellowship without the state looking over their shoulder. That’s why the free exercise of religion is the first freedom enshrined in our First Amendment along with the freedoms to speak and associate, because where religious freedom exists so do the others.”

First, democratic catholics need to stop support being democrates and then, be particially practicing catholics who ignore or are in rebellion to the Bible and churches teaching on the 3 major thrusts of the democratic party 1. abortion or the killing of the unborn, infanticide, genocide, or the shedding of innocent blood (yes, fetuses all have blood inside which gets literally shredded) 2. any and all sexual activity outside the holy marriage bed which includes those outlined in Leviticus 18 and Romans 1 (to support and approve of homosexuality is to have had your conscience seared) 3. for supporting the welfare state rather than forcing those in need to have to go to the church for counsel, accountability, and true needs.
RR,
No, believers are not to call people “teacher” (Holy Spirit is our teacher) or “father” (God, the Father), yet, there is a unique relationship between Paul and Timothy Link:
http://www.navigators.org/us/staff/whitney/resources/Timothy.pdf
The “Hail Mary” comes from the beautiful words written in Luke 1:26-56 based on words from Gabriel, Martha while filled with the Holy Spirit and in Mary’s song of praise. Please pay close attention to v48
“For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant;
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.”
BTW I was raised Catholic but chose to submit to my husband’s faith of Protestant Christian.

I’m sure you’re not against using your brain, so lets just walk through this evolution.
Prior to the election, I certainly support your right and responsibility to do all you can to speak in behalf of what you feel is best for YOUR country, as it is as much yours as mine.
On election day, take a minute before you cast your vote and think through the following:
1) Is there ANY chance that any of Obama’s followers will leave Obama and vote with the 3rd party Johnson, do any of them support any of his platform no matter how much they might be disenfranchised with Obama?
2) How close might this election be? At best, is there ANY data that supports Johnson could get 50% of the vote or even 45%?
3) Is Johnson then actually running to beat Obama, or only to beat Romney?
4) Assuming everything goes as well as it possibly could for Johnson, will then the only accomplishment be that Obama wins just to make a point to the GOP that they are not right as you wish on all issues?
5) How are you going to like the next four years under Obama?
6) What are you going to do in 2016 when you live under sharia law, elections are symbolic only, you are homeless and jobless and possibly in prison and can only wish SOME of the Constitution was still in effect?
Now, feel free to pull that lever however you see best fellow citizen.
Remember the words “United we Stand, divided we fall.”

So the only reason i should vote for Romney is because you believe in some sort of counterfactual sharia law scenario? Please. If the republicans wanted the libertarian vote, they would have done things differently. The objective of the Romney campaign was to win over the moderates – Romney said exactly that in his 47% speech. Dont blame us just because your strategy is falling apart
Doing the right thing is never wrong. Either the republican party dissolves and becomes the Tea Party or else this country goes bankrupt. This country will not survive with the current republican and democrat parties in control

Love enough to make amends

That we could start again
Hello God, we’ve learned our lesson
Dear God, don’t let us go

Hello God, hello, hello
Hello God, we really need you
We can’t make it without you

The so called White Horse Prophecy contains elements of this but this prophecy is not LDS doctrine by any means. The main point is that Joseph Smith spoke about Americans along with members of the LDS church and folks of all faiths will arise to save the US Constitution which is inspired by God and a great gift of His to humanity. One day humanity will embrace the US Constitution and live as a world wide Republic with it as its foundation in the last days when Jesus returns.

Catholic values are NON-NEGOTIABLE.
Not just my words…
“[I]t must be noted also that a well-formed Christian conscience does not permit one to vote for a political program or an individual law which contradicts the fundamental contents of faith and morals… When political activity comes up against moral principles that do not admit of exception, compromise or derogation, the Catholic commitment becomes more evident and laden with responsibility… This is the case with laws concerning abortion and euthanasia… respect and protect the rights of the human embryo… the family needs to be safeguarded and promoted, based on monogamous marriage between a man and a woman… in no way can other forms of cohabitation be placed on the same level as marriage, nor can they receive legal recognition as such.”

Posted on September 26, 2012 at 4:08pmYou haven’t been to church much have you? As far as social justice when we give to the church or other organizations it is through our own personal giving unlike if it would be for the government they would be collecting other peoples money to give and use as they see fit which is not near as good. A good example of government is in the healthcare long they can say who gets care and who doesn’t. The older people will be in jeopardy if they have anything serious. Yes, someday you will be old.
God will judge if there is evil in our souls.

Posted on September 26, 2012 at 4:13pmThe doctrine of social justice comes from Catholic teachings about good works. Beck the Mormon is attempting to argue against Catholic teachings for his own political gain. Pope John Paul the II was critical of capitalism, where capitalism served only to make the few wealthy and further impoverish the third world.

What do you think Christ will say to you when you flippantly answer back to him, “Well, I paid my taxes, so there, I did my part for my fellow man! <>
Don’t be deceived. Transferring money is the least of the gifts God expects us to bless others with. What about your time, your personal interest, and the human connection that people desperately need? You think a few bucks opts you out of making a personal difference in the strangers life?

Posted on September 26, 2012 at 4:56pmSo Mr, Ziegiestbuster, You think the government helping people is wrong because no one can’t claim the brownie points as their own for getting into heaven?
Your argument is why do any good work unless you get something back in return?
Or is it the FEAR that
maybe, just maybe, we the people could make is so everyone’s wants and needs were fulfilled then there wouldn’t be any charity to do at all and no one would get into heaven?
A world like that sounds like Kingdom living.
There’s nothing about supporting government assistance programs for the needy that makes people not also want to give of their time. It’s not either or.

Posted on September 26, 2012 at 5:16pmMarybeth,
The government is out of its area of competency when it comes to “helping” people.
If society has broken down to the point where families will not help their own, where churches will not help the needy, where the children of the “values free” educational system feel no responsibility to skim off the success of their businesses and contribute to the good of our society in creative ways, then a government program to shift money around will not fix the festering and rotting corpse of such a society. Government ITSELF has created many of the problems it is allegedy trying to fix!
There is one thing a government program will NEVER be able to do: To know WHEN to cut off a recipient of aid for their own good.
If birds were on welfare, they would never leave the nest. They would never take the risk of leaping from the nest, and thus, they would never know the thrill and joy found in spreading your wings and flying.

Mr Beck was raised Catholic. He made a choice to become Mormon. He abandoned his Catholic faith.
He now says he’s a Mormon.
I haven’t seen Mr. Beck’s financial records so I don’t know how much money Mr. Beck gives to charity. His “educating” is mostly misinformation and persuasion. There are very, very few facts. Mr. Beck can’t be proved wrong if all he presents is his opinion, but it’s pretty easy to point out incidences of deception in every show he does.
What did James say about deceivers?

But I don’t think it’s just for Catholics… it’s for anyone who believes in humanity – the morality of human life as we know it is crushing into non-existence, and very insulting and humiliating for loving people with traditional family values. It’s nice and sweet for Glenn to get together with the crowd in this manner. Glenn is such a hero… standing up for humanity, speaking out in all ways possible to help people open up their eyes and ears with knowledge whether through books, t.v., internet, radio…. to get the entire world on the right track… although these train tracks are really rusty and bent up…. he still tries… unlike the other media outlets in America and creepy puppet celebrities…. Romney’s and the GOP’s position on immergration and the dream act. There is little in the GOP platform that the Catholic Church agrees with.
Indeed, there is a risk that a radical capitalistic ideology could spread which refuses even to consider these problems [the poor and needy], in the a priori belief that any attempt to solve them is doomed to failure, and which blindly entrusts their solution to the free development of market forces. Posted on September 27, 2012 at 11:31am@Ross You are misinformed! first the stupid comment about Catholics dont need to listen to the Holy See anymore is foolish, you are just as bad as the libs that pick and choose, If the Holy Father makes a statement and it is ex cathadra it must be adheared to and one cannot call themselves Catholic if they refuse to listen. Social justice has leg room in it in its application, its not really spelled out because there are many ways to bring about social justice (in the correct sense). Systems like socialism have been definativly defined via the ordinary magestarium thus they must be adheared to because they take away from the very being of man and what he was created for.
@Encinom
Capitalism is indeed condemned if it is capitalism without morals. A capitalist system with basic morals is not condemned because it promotes the owrth of each person who thereby benefits society with their abilitys (both solidarity and subsidiarity) so go back to the chalkboard and try harder in confusing people with your take on social justice and not the Holy sees take
