Racist Photos Sent to GOP Rising Star Mia Love: ‘They Can Bring It’

Police have launched an investigation after a “packet of information” that local city officials described as racist was sent to Utah Republican congressional candidate Mia Love’s office in Saratoga Springs, The Deseret News reports.

Love made a splash with her rousing address at the Republican National Convention last month, cementing her place as a rising star in the GOP. She is also trying to become the first black GOP congresswoman in U.S. history.

Unfortunately, her new-found fame has also made her a target.

An unknown suspect reportedly sent an envelope full of pictures to her office, including photos of aborted fetuses, a photo of Love and her husband Jason and a photo of a Ku Klux Klan member wearing a hood, The Deseret News reports.

When asked about the envelope filled with hate, Love provided a confident and firm response:

“I want you to know, I want everyone to know I am comfortable in my skin. I’m comfortable and proud of my heritage. I’m proud of who I am. I know where I’m going and I know what we need to do to get this country back in order again. There isn’t anything that anyone can send me that will distract me from that so they can bring it,” she said.

Saratoga Springs City Manager Mark Christensen said the pictures were “disturbing” and “pretty creepy.”

“I couldn’t tell if it was threatening or anything. It kind of shocked me, what I saw,” he added.

Love called herself a “tough cookie” and said she will do anything to protect herself and her family from threats. That being said, she is confident the police can handle the matter.

Love also told The Deseret News that she is being targeting because she is a threat to the current policies of President Barack Obama. She also said the threatening messages are meant to distract her from tackling the real issues in the congressional race.

“I knew that people would come after me,” Love said. “I knew that people would try to change and distort information so I’m going to focus on things that are really important.”

According to Politico:

Love’s campaign released an internal poll Tuesday showing her with a 51 percent to 36 percent lead over incumbent Democratic Rep. Jim Matheson. The last public, independent poll of the race, released in June, showed Matheson leading, 53 percent to 38 percent.

This is not the first time that Love has been targeted because she is black. Following her RNC speech, people on Twitter attacked her for being a black Republican woman, calling her a “GOP token” and even changed her Wikipedia page to call her a “house n**ger.”

  Did not know about her until I saw her convention speech. I asked my daughters to watch her speech on YT and they also loved her. I have really checked her out since then and have been very pleased .
  I think she will go far with and keep her integrity.
  
  Mia if you read this hold your head high and fight like hell!! Your parents obviously did a wonderful job raising an intelligent, productive American. Made God bless and watch over you through your journey.

  Now if she recieved in that envelope a copy of a Ron Paul Newsletter we’d have our ideological culprit. I wouldn’t be so sure this was a leftist of the Obama / Dem Party stripe.   @TURKEY13 – Fortunately she won’t have to worry about the DOJ looking into it. The locals will probably handle it, which means in all likelihood it will get solved. Most REAL cops think the current incarnation of the DOJ, under Holder, is a joke. That said, when the cops do solve it, the FBI will roll in, have a press conference and grab the credit.   Your comment reminds me of that movie ‘Fried Green Tomatos” where these young girls in a convertable (couple of smart @sses) jump into a parking space at a grocery store ahead of the character played by Kathy Bates, When Bates states that she was obviously waiting on that parking spot and her directional on… this one girl looks at her and says laughingly…” too bad… we’re younger and we’re faster.”
  
  After a few minutes, Bates throws here car into gear and starts to smash into the rear end of the girl’s car repeatedly. When the girls come back out of the store and see the damage… the driver starts to scream at Bates about WTH she’s doing. Bates just looks at her and says… “I’m older… and have better insurance” and drives off laughing hysterically.
  
  Don’t know you from Adams, but I’ll bet I’m older (much older) and in a much better position to weather the Obama storm.   Matheson was my congressman for 6 years and what an idiot and lair and twister of words he is. He was given permission by Nancy to not vote for the health-uncare law as it would hurt him back home, but, it was his vote that brought it out of comitee. Love is a strong woman, but since they have split up our district I get the honor of voting for Chris Stewart. God will win this election for good and honorable people.
