U.S. Army Brigadier General Arrested on a Litany of Sex Charges

Brigadier General Jeffrey A. Sinclair Faces Sex Charges, Sent Home From Afghanistan

(Photo via The Fayetteville Observer)

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (TheBlaze/AP) — An Army brigadier general has been charged with forcible sodomy and other offenses after being sent home from Afghanistan.

The Fayetteville Observer was the first to report Wednesday that Brig. Gen. Jeffrey A. Sinclair faces possible courts martial on charges that include forced sex, possessing pornography and alcohol while deployed, engaging in inappropriate relationships and misusing a government travel charge card.

Other possible charges, the Observer reports, could include mistreatment of subordinates, conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman, filing fraudulent claims, and engaging in conduct “prejudicial to good order and discipline, or of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces.”

Sinclair, who served as deputy commander in charge of logistics and support for the 82nd Airborne Division in Afghanistan, was sent home in May because of the allegations, the officials said. He had arrived in Afghanistan for his deployment in September 2011, but had been serving as the division’s deputy commander since July 2010.

Fort Bragg spokesman Col. Kevin Arata confirmed that the charges were filed Wednesday morning.

“The purpose of the hearing is to determine the merits and seriousness of the charges, so as to make recommendations on whether the matter should proceed to trial or not,” he reportedly commented.

Sinclair, who has been in the Army for 27 years, was serving his third deployment to Afghanistan. He had also served one tour in Iraq, as well as tours in the first Gulf war.

Army officials have scheduled a news conference for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

If it is true: What has Washington done to our military? Our military is supposed to be the pride of America. Someone needs to step up, make some changes, and kick some ass. The military is not an experiment for culture training. We need the return of strong leadership, no compromise discipline, and the training of our young people to be physically, mentally and morally strong. .

The military is nothing but a bunch of trained thugs, mercienaries, fighting for oil and wold dominance killing over a million plus in Iraq. Many killed were babies, children, and women. I hate Islam, but the military is not fighting for freedom. The US military is the arm of the UN and the globalists. The biggest battle is right here in America. A battle for the Constitution. The marxist leader Obummer appears to be winning with 1 in 3 getting free gov. assistance. Bought and paid for votes no less. Obummer drones and kills weekly. Obummer should be tried in a world court for murder along with Bush and Cheney.

You can also back up those claims that the US military killed women and children or STFU. PROSECUTE is claiming our military are nothing but thugs and mercenaries. i guess you are an America-hater, too, or you are both conspiracy-minded Paul-bots.
I DO agree we are in a battle for the Constitution, but don’t blame it on the military. I think we are just wasting money and lives in Afghanistan and we need to bring our military home, but NONE of that makes our military a bunch of thugs and mercenaries. My father was in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. He fixed jets. He was NOT a thug, nor a mercenary. You two sound like conspiracy idiots and I wouldn’t be surprised if you were the same person or knew each other.

      @ Anonymous

While I admit it’s unfair to paint every single person in the military with the “thug and mercenary” brush, there are a lot of people in the military who are. The US Military definitely HAS killed women and children in the past. The My Lai Massacre is my go-to example. It’s sort of a bittersweet one because while pretty much every single soldier involved acted shamefully, one person actually tried to stop it. His actions don’t manage to make up for anything though, and this is definitely a case where the US Military themselves killed women and children. The “Haditha killings” was one of the first examples in Iraq I found after a quick Google search.

I say this as someone whose boyfriend was a Marine–is a Marine? I don’t know. I’ve heard the whole, “Once a Marine, always a Marine” thing a lot–and personally intends to join the Air Force. While I think implying that EVERYONE in the military is a violent sociopath went a little bit too far, I don’t think that anyone can really argue that some are or that the military has done some pretty obscene and/or unjustifiable things for less-than-honorable reasons.

Patriotism is great and all, but it shouldn’t go so far that you blindly dismiss or justify everything the military does, even if it’s terrible. I don’t know if you were just personally insulted, but for the record, I don’t think anyone was directly attacking your father. I have no problem believing your father was a fine, patriotic gent

That was my first thought. A person doesn’t get promoted to General easily. I may be wrong, but a person who does the things he is charged with usually has been doing them for a long time and should have been found out a long time ago. What made him start doing these things now, if he is doing them at all? KIX-A, I think you have a reasonable point to consider.

I’m relieved that a few people on here had the same initial reaction as me. This has been a long time tactic of the socialist agenda. There is no crime more embarrassing to a man like this then what he is being accused of. My first thought in any story like this is “what was he getting ready to do that Obama and his thugs couldn’t allow to happen?” I’m not declaring his innocence, but until he’s proven otherwise I would make that assumption, wouldn’t you? Wouldn’t you expect the same if you were wrongfully accused? The fact that this story is front page on CNN sends up signal flares for me.

It’s been a while since I have read an up to date UCMJ. The one in my bookshelf was signed by Nixon, but you would surprised how long that one was considered up to date. Regardless, it may be called forcible sodomy because I don’t think that the application of rape in the UCMJ applies to male on male sexual assault. Yep, just looked it up, and Article 120 UCMJ, Rape, specifies female. It is online if anybody wants to look it up. So, it seems that he may well be gay or bisexual.

So why do they call it “forcible sodomy”? I know based on another’s comment that rape involves a female. But forcible is another term for rape right? Did a male come forward and accuse this general of rape? Is that what it sounds like to everyone else? Because consensual gay sex wouldn’t be a crime right (well a legal crime that is)?
