United Nations Leaders Call for International Blasphemy Laws to Stop Violence, Incitement of Muslims

The wave of anti-Western violence that has swept the Middle East for the past several weeks has prompted renewed calls for anti-blasphemy laws from radical clerics in Egypt to imams in New Jersey.

Now, however, world leaders at the United Nations are adding their voices to the choir.

Supposedly provoked by an anti-Islam YouTube video, the prevailing train of thought seems to be that if people refrain from offending Islam or Muhammad, the rioting mobs are more likely to be peaceful.

The Pakistani president Asif Ali Zardari took the podium at U.N. headquarters on Tuesday and said: “The international community must not become silent [observers], and should criminalize such acts that destroy the peace of the world.”

The Indonesian president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono agreed, adding: “I call for an international instrument to effectively prevent incitement of hostility or violence based on religions or beliefs.”

Al Jazeera noted that the issue was supposedly put to bed last year when U.N. member countries agreed to focus on “education, dialogue, and debate” rather than perceived offenses, but Ekmeleddin Ihsangoglu of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation said the approved resolution also calls for protecting Islam.

“[It] calls for adopting measures to criminalize incitement to imminent violence based on religion or belief,” he specified, “So we have the mandate to that, but we have to adopt measures.”

The Organization for Islamic Cooperation, it should be noted, represents 57 countries and about 1.5 billion Muslims.

So how are those in the West, who have been accustomed to free speech for hundreds of years, reacting?

The response can only be described as “mixed.”

An article published Tuesday in Slate Magazine claims “the world doesn’t love the first amendment,” and that we should appease the extremists by taking down the YouTube video that is supposedly prompting all the violence.

The article’s author Eric Posner writes:

Muslims need to grow a thick skin, the thinking goes, as believers in the West have done over the centuries. Perhaps they will even learn what it means to live in a free society, and adopt something like the First Amendment in their own countries.

But there is another possible response. This is that Americans need to learn that the rest of the world—and not just Muslims—see no sense in the First Amendment…

In his view, Americans should remember that freedom of speech is not “universal,” and is really just a set of “cobbled-together compromises among political and ideological factions responding to localized events.”

A human rights activist, on the other hand, maintained: “However disrespectful or hateful or offensive we find some comments on religion, we don’t believe that criminal defamation laws are the solution. It is a very slippery slope…”

  This is a good idea. However, the intransigent nature of Islamic culture dictates that the muslims are to ascend over all the Earth. They will never willingly leave American soil, for it is their holy obligation to spread the worship of the Allah deity through deception, lies, and murder.
  
  The Jihad for America will be mitigated in only one way; reduce the number of muslims encamped on our soil through the following pragmatic and non-violent process:
  
  1) Outlaw Islam
  2) Close the Mosques
  3) Deport the Muslims
  
  There is, sadly, no other way. And soon, more and more Americans will agree that we have literally invited a muslim army onto our soil. The muslims move among our American children just waiting until they can do another Beslan-style, blood-sacrifice of children to the Allah deity.

If ever there were a time to pull this it is when our society has been stripped of its words to debate through political correctness, stripped of its power to organize at grass roots through a Stasi police state, stripped of our awareness with piles of iCrap, stripped of our ambition and work ethic through government dependency, stripped of our hope for the future through massive debt and huge government.

Islam is now dictating how Americans and the rest of the world speaks and Obama concurs.

Christians and Jews will soon be subject to even more persecution because there is no way we can ever stop speaking out about the evil that Islam is and the evil it promotes.

With every new day, with every new demand Islam makes and the world gives in to I see Biblical prophecy being fulfilled. If Obama remains in office as I believe he will he will issue a new EO declaring insult of Islam against the law in America. He will no longer have to pretend he is Christian and the real Obama will show his true self to the point that maybe even some of the blind might be able to see.

  It is most interesting to compare the times we are living in to Bible prophecy. Whether or not it coincides with God’s timing, the world powers sure want us to believe these are the end times.   That would take a politician with some Large Brass Danglers, and we all know that won’t happen as long as every politician is worried about please EVERY base of voter…
  
  GIVE UP PEOPLE!! You can’t win over EVERY group… You have to pick sides… The only question is who’s side will you pick?? So far, we haven’t had an American politician yet who has sided with our own people (and by that I mean looks out for the American rights, while saying “I don’t care what the rest of the world says, this is what AMERICAN’S want, so THAT is what we will do”…
  
  Heck, I would run for office myself if it wasn’t for the fact that I have little to no REAL accomplishments (besides being a hard-working, fairly educated blue-collar middle-class person), so I would be the equivalent of a right-wing Obama (since he had no real experience doing anything either.)… And this country doesn’t need anymore of that…

That’s why the Christians in Egypt are Crucified, their homes and churches burned. Their belief in something other than Islam IS an affront to the Prophet.
