Netanyahu Blasts Iran & al-Qaeda in U.N. Speech: ‘The Medieval Forces of Radical Islam…Want to End the Modern World’
This afternoon, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu addressed the United Nations General Assembly, spending the bulk of his time warning the world against a nuclear-equipped Iran. He challenged global powers to draw a “red line…before Iran completes the second stage of nuclear enrichment to make a nuclear bomb,” and spoke fervently against radical Islam.
While Iran was the overarching focus, Netanyahu opened the speech by proclaiming that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel — a fact that the Obama administration has come under fire by critics for continuously failing to acknowledge. But rather than poking at his Western ally, Netanyahu used the opportunity to deride the Iranian regime, which has repeatedly called for Israel’s destruction.

“I say that to all those who proclaim that the Jewish state has no roots in our region and that it will soon disappear,” he said of the Jerusalem mention, going on to herald his nation’s ability to survive the odds. ”The people of Israel live on.”
The prime minister staked claim to Israel’s placement in the Middle East and said that “the Jewish people have come home” and that they “will never be uprooted again.” Similar to what Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad did with his own country on Wednesday, Netanyahu praised Israel’s successes in technology, medicine, agriculture and other spheres, while taking aim at more draconian nations.
“In Israel, we walk the same paths tread by our patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, but we blaze new trails in science, technology, medicine, agriculture,” he said. “Well, unfortunately, that’s not the case in many other countries.”
In these unnamed “other” nations, Netanyahu said that there is a “battle between [the] modern and [the] medieval.” He juxtaposed his nation, which he claims embraces peace and cherishes life, with Iran and others who he believes do not. The Middle Eastern leader also addressed Palestine in his critiques, claiming that its leaders must come to recognize the “one and only Jewish state.”

At the heart of the address was the notion that radical Islam, whether it comes from Iranian leaders or the al-Qaeda and other radical groups, must be combated. Terrorist ideologies, Netanyahu contended, are a threat not just to Israel, but also to every nation on earth.
“The medieval forces of radical Islam…seek supremacy over all Muslims…they want to extinguish freedom,” he continued. “They want to end the modern world.”
Netanyahu drew no distinctions between Iran and al-Qaeda, claiming that “despite their differences, they are all rooted in the same bitter soil of intolerance.” Their angst and violence, the leader said, are aimed at Muslims, Jews, Christians, Hindus — essentially anyone who doesn’t submit to their will.
“Ultimately, they will fail. Ultimately, light will penetrate the darkness,” Netanyahu continued.
In recalling memories from the not-so-distant past, the Israeli prime minister mentioned the lessons that the world learned from the Holocaust. While the international community sat and waited to address Adolf Hitler’s “fanatical ideology,” millions of people perished. Netanyahu urged the world not to let this happen again and claimed that the Iranian threat creates a parallel worth paying attention to.

“To understand what the world would be like with a nuclear-armed Iran, just imagine the world with a nuclear armed al-Qaeda,” he continued, at one point holding up an image of a bomb to illustrate that the problem must be stopped before it’s too late. ”Given this record of Iranian aggression without nuclear weapons, just imagine Iranian agression with nuclear weapons.”
Netanyahu also addressed Israel’s relationship with the U.S., at some points thanking Obama for his cooperation in terms of speaking out against Iran and supporting crippling sanctions. But while the Iranian economy has been hard-hit, Netanyahu said that the actions have failed to halt nuclear ambitions.
“We share the goal of stopping Iran’s nuclear weapons program,” he said of the U.S. and Israel’s joint concern. “Israel is in discussions with the United States on this issue and I am confident that we can chart a path…together.”

Posted on September 27, 2012 at 3:07pmMedieval….perfect description. Take all of the stolen toyotas out of Afghanistan and you’d swear you were living in the 10th century. Leave the cities in Iraq or any other place on the planet CONQUERED by islam and you find the same thing abject poverty and people living as if it were 800AD. Any place where Islam is the predominant or singular religion, progress is generally stagnant. That is especially true for the poor, women, education, infrastructure etc. Fanatical islam forbids focus on anything but religious study. Bottom line there can be no freedom in a place that defines justice through sharia.
Bibi is the man…there aren’t many leaders like him left in the world. Face it sometimes you just gotta put it out there and get busy. Bibi has the stones to do it…I for one have no doubt that he will do the right thing. Israel is fortunate to have him at this time in history.

Posted on September 27, 2012 at 4:20pmKinda sad when you think about it…the Arab world used to be the center of mathematics and science for almost 1000 years…even more than the Greeks and Romans…the Arab nations encouraged education among all levels of people….knowledge and wisdom and acceptance of all thought was the grandest ideal….
then came Islam….it took them about 400-500 years…but once the Middle East and northern Africa began a caliphate…it was over….with the Ottoman Empire being established in the 1400′s all progress and learning in the Arab world stopped…their culture, their wisdom, their knowledge, their scientific and mathematic superiority died…as if a veil of darkness descended on their leaders and from there to the people….
while Europe was in the thralls of the Renaissance…started by trade and visitations to Arab nations…the Arab world stood still… when Europe was colonizing the “new world”, Arab nations isolated themselves…when Europe and Asia industrialized..the Arab world retreated and closed off completely…
if not for the discovery of oil in that region of the world, they would still be a nomadic, tribal society believing in “might makes right, especially in the name of Allah”
sad..truly sad….if they had joined us instead of shunning the West…think of the advancements the world could have made….

With exception of Hadramaut based Sabeans that were actually an ethnic mix with Jewish gene pool. there was no such a thing you speak about. Even Malek (called by Greeks the Hyksos) who invaded Egypt at the time of Hebrew exodus and ruled Egypt for several hundred years ushered a period of stagnation.
The 11th century Arab advances (ibn Rushd and ibn Sina) were not due to Islam, but were despite of it, and because of the heritage still preserved at the time form earlier civilizations, through Christian or Jewish slaves or second class citizens. After that period, all innovation in religion has been choked off and forbidden, and with it came the end of science, because the concept of causality was doctrinally contradicting the sunna.

Warmonger? He wants to AVOID war. He wants to live in peace. When another country says they will destroy you, arent THEY the aggressors, and Israel simply responding to a stated existential objective?
And then, of course, the backhanded slur: A JEW. A Zionist. Could your irrational, and emotional, position be any clearer?

But if there were, I’d not be cool with it. That being said, if two countries want to fight each other then sooner or later they will. Iran says Israel should not exist. Israel feels Iran is a threat to survival. I don’t care who attacks who, but this doesn’t end with a handshake…either now or 20 years from now.

Speak only about what you know. Judaism isn’t as simple as you made it out to be. For example, literal application of biblical law would allow Jews to eat cheeseburgers so long as the milk for the cheese wasn’t from the mother of the cow the meat came from. The five books are the basis for much of Jewish law, but there is much that was only written down during the time of the Mishna.

I have yet to see any evidence of the Liberty being a false flag attack. If your so convinced you must have proof of this. Explain to me why Israel would attack the Liberty intentionally to bring the US into a war that even US officials believed Israel would likely win even if Egypt had struck first. Explain how it is that at no point did anyone, Israeli or otherwise, ever accused Egypt of being behind the attack. If Israel’s goal was to blame Egypt, why was their first response to claim that they had mistakenly attacked the Liberty?
Personally, I find it curious that the Liberty was deployed so close to an active war zone. You’d think having Israeli planes flying overhead might be a clue to put some distance behind you. What was the Liberty doing anyways? Why did our own government call off planes that were sent to assist it? Sounds to me that whatever the Liberty was doing the higher ups wanted to keep it quiet and so chose to not escalate the situation.

Based on the captain’s words you cited, I am now even more convinced that the Liberty was up to something which may have provoked an Israeli attack. The captain himself said that Israel claimed responsibility (blowing your false flag theory sky high). Moreover, the peculiarities surrounding the incident are primarily in how the US responded, not Israel.
What would you say if I told you that I have it on high authority from someone whose company sells to the Navy that the Liberty was attacked because they were passing Israeli troop movement info to the Saudis who then blabbed to Egypt? Would that not explain the incident?

This is all about WWIII to deal with the coming financial cliff and the threat to dollar hegemony. The “Iran has nukes”card has been played before:
1992: Israeli member of parliament Binyamin Netanyahu predicts that Iran was “3 to 5 years” from having a nuclear weapon.
1992: Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres predicts an Iranian nuclear warhead by 1999 to French TV.
1995: The New York Times quotes US and Israeli officials saying that Iran would have the bomb by 2000.
1998: Donald Rumsfeld tells Congress that Iran could have an intercontinental ballistic missile that could hit the US by 2003.
Don’t fall for this crap. Our sons and daughters don’t need to go and spill blood there. Look at what it got us in Iraq. How’d it work in Afghanistan. How about Libya (there were no casualties that were reported in the military ops supporting that revolution). We don’t need to spend our grandchildren’s futures and send our children to die for this game.
If Israel wants to or needs to? Fine. God is on their side. As for us? Why? We fight Iran to get what? Another Egypt? Libya? Iraq? If people want to do that then go join the IDF. As for sending our blood and treasure for this charade again? No thanks.

Why is it so hard to understand that nuclear material in the hands of fanatics directly threatens the U.S. Have you forgotten 9/11 already? The USS Cole? The 1st World Trade Center attack. The Marine Barracks attack and on and on? The attack on 9/11 WAS state sponsored terrorism and, because they welcome death, no thought was given to a U.S. retaliation. Or perhaps they create some plausible deniability and one of their many surrogates plants dirty bombs in a dozen or more of our cities? This is about us, not just Israel. If there were no Israel, the threat would still be as dangerous. These people want us dead or converted. Which do you choose? The points being made about our country being exhausted from war is true. It is also true that it is probably the reason they think nothing of provoking us. We don’t get to choose when we are attacked. But we can choose when to defend ourselves.

Posted on September 27, 2012 at 4:19pmI’m with you Invictus. I agree with your premise. I think that the trap here is this false dichotomy that if you accept the premise then you must also accept the “solution”. Somehow we’ve been convinced that obliterating millions is morally superior to the crime of being politically incorrect. What I mean by that is that if we accept the premise then all we have to do is send everyone from these countries home. Gone. Then we have to not let anyone in from these countries. Then we simply let them rot. We pull our support and stop sending them money and stop buying their oil (we drill our own).
We kill nobody, we don’t lose a single American life, we save a ton of money (we don’t have) and we become more independent from an energy standpoint. This scenario seems unthinkable but sending our kids to die for an unachievable objective (ending jihad) seems reasonable.(?)
No. I think not.

Personal attacks aside, I disagree. For example, the Russians replaced their reactor some time ago with one that would not yield weapons grade material. Either the Russians lied and are helping the Iranians or they didn’t lie in which case there wouldn’t be a weapon.

He made Ahmadoinahandjob look like a knuckle -dragging imbecile, and simultaneously accurately described their pagan, heathenish, Medieval religious approach to life.

Is the problem getting better or worse?

The problem isn’t that we went, the problem is that we went in without the intent to actually win.
This strategy of “winning hearts and minds” is utter PC bull****.

I’m not entirely sure that genocide is the answer. Either you do what we did (nation build) or you kill everyone. Of course there is option 3, which is stay home and let these animals kill each other and keep them out of our country.

While I have you here, how’d your QE3 prediction work out? Funny, I didn’t see you around during that time. Must of gotten busy at the counter. I guess if you’re going to miss you might as well miss in epic fashion eh? Not only did it happen it is now going without an end date! I should make sure to have you cash your McDonalds checks on some lotto tickets. Clearly channeling Keynes seems to be working well for you.
As for taking what I said out of context…congrats. Slow down and read. Wait. Tell the person reading to you to slow down.

The mistake you make is your apparent thinking that these Muslim tools appreciate life. They don’t. They don’t think like most normal people. They can’t bring the end times to the planet fast enough. Our mistake was not letting Schwarzkopf continue all the way to Baghdad and snuff out the higher leadership when we had the chance.
The same mistake will be made by our administration with regards to Iran. They are going to fiddle-fart around until Israel is forced to either make a move or get vaporized.
“Staying home” and letting things be left to themselves is a Murphy’s law moment just begging to happen, by that I mean this; Murphy’s law: “Things left to themselves usually go from bad to worse.”

Posted on September 27, 2012 at 3:25pmI agree with you….he is working to protect all the citizens of Israel. Unlike our commander-in-chief who thinks it more important to act like a Hollywood star hob-knobbing around versus being at the WH to get updates and direct communication with our brave Intelligence community as to what really happened. Oh but I forgot….he reads the updates the following morning vs. meetings with top officials. AND he’s the one who has it right! Good luck with that if you want 4 more years of the same with this incompetent administration!!!! You could tell Hillary was lying about the whole affair….look at the video, she has a really sheepish look on her face and I don’t think it was from grief.

bad example,, that was a prediction, future events are never “fact”
future events carry a risk variable,, ie future variables known and unknown impact the prediction
Maybe Iran would have had “it” but some future variable changed it,, maybe not, maybe BiBi wanted the Global community to act early to stop them…

Posted on September 27, 2012 at 2:53pmthere is no doubt iran would use a nuc on isreal, does anyone really doubt this?
and we know what would happen if that does happen, all hell would break loose. millions upon millions all over the middle east will be killed.
The U.S. would respond and I hope they would respond with great force and carpet bombing raids of Iran
If Iran is going ot revert back to a WW2 weapon then the U.S. should revert back to WW2 carpet bombing of the entire country.

Posted on September 27, 2012 at 3:43pmLandon, I don’t think Iran will use a nuke on Israel. They want their land and resources. They would, however, use a nuke (or 5 or 10 or 50) on the U.S. in a heartbeat. Afterall, we are the GREAT satan. jihadists’ goals are to rule the world and spread sharia law. What better way to rule the world than to take us out first…? Just thinkin’ out loud here.

However, I must fault him on one point, he said:
“The medieval forces of radical Islam…seek supremacy over all Muslims…they want to extinguish freedom,” he continued. “They want to end the modern world.”
He forgot to add Obama.
