Screaming Apparent Obama Supporter Explains Why We Need to Re-Elect President: ‘He Gave Us a Phone, He Gonna Do More!’
Yesterday, both President Obama and Mitt Romney were in the swing state of Ohio campaigning. At one Romney event near Cleveland, a group of Obama supporters gathered to voice their dislike for Romney.

One apparent Obama supporter was caught on video seemingly giving a very clear explanation of why she is voting for the president and why she does not like Mitt Romney.
The passionate explanation for the former involves Obama giving free phones:
In case you did not hear that clearly, we will transcribe it as best we can.
“Everybody in Cleveland, low minorities, got Obama phone. Keep Obama in president, you know. He gave us a phone, he gonna do more.”
The person shooting the video asks, How did he give you a phone? To which the woman replies: “You sign up! If you on food stamps, you on social security, you got low income, you disability…”
The video includes a cut at that point and picks up with the filmer asking “What’s wrong with Romney?” Without blinking, the passionate Obama supporter says:
“Romney, he sucks! Bad.”
If this kind of thinking sounds familiar, we have heard similar comments from Obama supporters as far back as 2009.
TheBlaze has also reached out to the person who posted the video, requesting the entire, unedited clip.
For the record, government sponsored cell phones started long before President Obama took office. However, the size of the program (and its cost) have grown considerably since 2008.

Posted on September 27, 2012 at 4:01pmI don’t earn enough to pay taxes, so I’m technically in the 47%, and I am eligible for these phones, but I wouldn’t take it if you paid me. Do I need a phone to survive? No… so if I can’t afford one on my own, then I don’t need it. I have a cheap prepaid phone that costs about $50 a year to operate. Next year, when my husband is (hopefully) a lawyer, then maybe he’ll be making enough money to justify getting one of those nice phones that has internet. Until then, I will do without.
When you take from the government, you give them power over you in a way. I won’t even send my kids to public schools; I can teach them perfectly well myself. Since I can live without a phone, I’ll either have none or pay for it myself, thank you very much.

this is basically tantamount to the welfare queen argument aka Race Baiting. Come on all we have such a wealth of arguments against Obama without race baiting crazy people that support him. You can easily find a Romney supporter equally as ignorant.

She LOVES her Obama phone and her welfare check and so do her two teens who also have Obama phones. The program began under a Republican, but then it then gave USED, DONATED phones to rape and domestic abuse victims who could not afford an emergency phones and might still be at risk, the elderly who might be at risk for some reason and a few others, and were usable for emergencies only. Obama has vastly increased the program and phones are handed out like ******* jack prizes to anyone who qualifies for welfare, including their teenage children!
And the 3/5th vote thing was a DEMOCRAT idea, meant to suppress the vote of southern blacks who they feared would be able to out number the northern white vote if counted as a full vote.
Does this woman strike you as employable? These phones are very clearly being handed out as vote grabbers, nothing else. Did you know that our food stamp offices are now holding PARTIES in order to attract new applicants? Advertising on the RADIO to bring people in? Advertising through AARP to hook our elderly on handouts in order to get votes? This president is a disgrace!

The program was started under your idol Reagan.
The reason is a valid one. It was to help poor people stay in better contact with employers and emergency services since many of them didn’t have a phone at all.
The number of people with a “subsidized phone”is higher now because more people are poor (blame Obama if you want, at least that can be an argument, not an outright lie like this article)
But the biggest lie of the article is that the government pays for it. IT DOES NOT PAY. It is an independent non profit group that administers the plan.
It costs you NOTHING
Quit your moaning just because you think got something you didn’t.
Some of those people are bums and some are hard working people who just can’t find
a job or have health problems.

The money doesn’t come from a non-profit group. It comes from a fee added to everyone’s phone bill. SO yes we do pay for it to the tune of billions of dollars a year. It started out as a well-intended program,but the dems took it and started to buy votes by giving it to anybody that had govt. support. Isn’t it great to have all the drug dealers with phones so they can plan their drops. You can get a NET 10 phone for 15 bucks a month, so these people should be able to come up with that if they need a phone. ONLY give the to the truly needy people like it was intended!

I have a brother who is an Obamabot, and thinks Obama stopped the war in Iraq doesn’t mean it’s true. The program is a program started under Reagan and expanded by the telecommunications act of 1996, it uses 0 TAX PAYER DOLLARS, and is a non-profit with donations from telecommunications companies.
One woman being unemployable does not mean we should stop a PRIVATELY FUNDED program that works for thousands. Advertising on the radio to inform people that there is a program that can help them, such as EBT (another thing was USED to support) does not strike me as odd. Is the plan of food stamps to keep it a tightly hidden secret?
as for your 3/5th comment. It was a joke, I was mockingly implying that I think Nick7′s comment that some people’s votes, like this woman’s should be counted as half a vote was racist. This is NOT privately funded (even though it may appear that way). For those of us who DO PAY for a cell phone, there is a FEDERAL TAX assessed to pay for this Government program. It’s called the “Federal-Univ Serv Assess non-ld” and my state, not to be left out either, has the same TAX at the state level……. Cell Phone Companies were directed to set up this fund to help pay for the “Free” Phones….
So this is an additional TAX that we Americans have to pay, for the benefit of others…….

As such, anyone who is on public assistance, not those who are on forced government retirement and medical, I mean those on hand-outs , should NOT BE ALLOWED TO VOTE! Period, end of story, voting is not a right, it is a privilege, you used to have to own land to vote and I tell you what, if it was still that way – This Country would not be in the same mess that it is in now.
Instead of eliminating the land ownership requirement, they should have made it legal for anyone to own land but that wouldn’t have fit the ongoing agenda of those Big Government Statists who want all the power in the hands of the Federal Government.
So, those who are out there who can answer the question, how to We the People get a law on the books that says, if you are on hand-out public assistance you cannot vote in any election local, State or Federal?

This is a huge pet peeve of mine! Just because you don’t earn enough to pay income taxes (being a part of the 47%), doesn’t mean that you necessarily receive entitlements! If you are part of a family of four with a dad making $15 an hour, and a mom that is homeschooling their two children, you don’t earn enough to pay taxes, yet you wouldn’t even be ELIGIBLE for food stamps, and you probably wouldn’t be eligible for most other government programs either, except maybe some form of health care assistance (depending on your state). Not everybody in the 47% are slugs like this lady, yet many conservatives seem to lump hard-working low income people with people like this. We’re not all the same.

There is also a difference between someone who is down on their luck and needs help versus someone who just doesn’t want to work. Seriously, which category do you think this woman is in and do you think she resembles the family you described?
If the scenario you described is close to your own situation, then it would be in your best interest to support Romney since he is the better chance for you to open up more opportunities as for as employment. With Obama, you are almost guaranteed to remain the same situation with maybe the possibility of some Government assistance. Ask yourself which of the two lives you prefer.

It includes people like me, the dad earning $15 an hour with two kids and a wife, my married friends with 9 kids that work but earn less than $100k, etc. So while people might not mean to lump us all in together, when someone uses the term 47%, it automatically does, because by definition everybody that doesn’t earn enough to pay income taxes is part of that group.
Yes, I do support Romney, even though I still think of him as a RINO, because he’s the best choice that we have. If Obama gets a second term, a) the company that my husband is interning at, which provides emergency medical flights to people, will probably go out of business and he won’t get that job out of law school, b) the world will be in even worse shape than it is now, and c) I will probably become a Christian martyr when the UN makes it illegal to blaspheme Mohammad… and as a Christian I am not going to lie about my Lord Jesus Christ. So I have quite a few reasons to oppose Obama.

I went to the web site and read the disclaimer, all of it. I wouldn’t take a phone from the government if you paid me to have it. It said that the government will preprogram the phone before it comes to you, and they reserve the right to change anything on the phone, even remotely, whenever they want to. My thought was can they erase the memory of the phone? My handicapped son would need numbers put in that he could call, and I didn’t want them suddenly deciding he could only call the government. Plus, with all the GPS technology today, who is to say it’s not a way of rounding up the poor before they crash the EBT system?

You misunderstand Bloomytoad. He is quite rightly pointing out that there are (and always have been) restrictions on who can vote. Whether this is a restriction by age or property rights is irrelevant. The criterion is whether that person is able to make a reasonable decision. For example we don’t let 5 year olds vote any more than those who are certified insane. Once we’ve agreed that not everyone should automatically be allowed to vote it’s just a question of who SHOULD be included. How about we start by restricting it to only white males over the age of 30 who own property outright with no mortgage?

We give my husband’s old dress clothes to our church’s men’s home; they help people clean up, get off their addictions, and get jobs. A free phone for breathing is wrong though.

Then after Katrina the article came out about the 53 yr old grandmother who was living in a 3 bedroom apartment with hardwood floors, had a big screen plasma TV, and had been living on government welfare programs for 52 of her 53 years did they realize that I was telling them the truth. That woman not only had a lifestyle that many of us working couldn’t afford, she was complaining that people weren’t giving her as much as she wanted them to.

ANY working family of four making less than $16 an hour, working full time, is still part of the 47%. ANY working family of 11 (like some friends of mine with 9 kids) making less than $115,000 a year are also part of the 47%. We’re not all like this, and many of the working poor support Romney. Don’t lose heart, and don’t get suckered into believing that all of the 47% of Americans that don’t earn enough to pay taxes are like this!

There’s a lady I’ve known forever. She’s very sick. On top of that, she’s being abused by those to whom she has given everything….. Lies about her abound, and seem to come from all sides. Just breaks my heart. Seems there’s nothing I can do alone but maybe, if we join in and lift her up together, we can heal her. She’s well over 230 years old, but way too young to die. Her name is ‘ America ‘… And I love her and have always been proud of her. Please take time to say a prayer for her – even if it is a short, simple prayer like, “Lord, please heal
