Conservative author and historian David Barton joined Glenn Beck on his show on TheBlazeTV Friday to discuss the role of fasting and faith in American society today.
Barton explained that there are different kinds of fasting; it’s not just about going without food for long periods of time.
“Well there’s different kinds of fasts in the Bible. There’s what’s called a Daniel fast… it’s kind of what happens at Lent, you give up something really special to you for 40 days,” Barton said.
Barton used the example of someone giving up Coke for Lent, saying each time that person desires what they are giving up, they are supposed to pray and use the urge as a time of “replacement.”

Sep. 30, 2012 at 11:29am(cont) The Church – Catholic and later Protestant – turned aggressively on the two most clearly monotheistic religions in view – Judaism and Islam – and persecuted them as heathen or pagan. The external history of Christianity consists largely of accusations that other religions rely on the worship of more than one god and therefore not the true God. These pagans must therefore be converted, conquered and/or killed for their own good in order that they benefit from the singularity of the Holy Trinity, plus appendages.” — The Doubter’s Companion (John Ralston Saul) http://www.sullivan-county.com/identity/trinity.htm
There’s where your trinity came from, it’s not in the bible.
I’m surprised that many of you fall for what your churches tell you, what’s been implanted into your psyche by tradition. There is but one God, he doesn’t know of any before him or after him. He had Moses build a temple, if you study that temple and the adornments of it, you see it is his dwelling place and it is a picture of Yeshua, it’s where he dwells upon the earth. But all of the temple (body of flesh) could not contail all of God, his glory is there. Yeshua is Emmanuel, God with us, God wanted to dwell among us like he did Adam, he also needed the blood sacrifice (God purchased the church with his own blood) meaning he bled as a man (lamb, Yeshua). Yeshua breathed on his Apostles, the Holy Spirit entered them. Wake up, so many of you are misled into paganism and don’t know it.

Sep. 30, 2012 at 11:52amJuniemoon, you said “(God purchased the church with his own blood) meaning he bled as a man (lamb, Yeshua).”
Acts 20:28 says – Pay attention to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the holy spirit has appointed YOU overseers, to shepherd the congregation of God, which he purchased with the blood of his own [Son]
Jesus, God’s Son, was the sacrificial Lamb.
And they sing a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, because you were slaughtered and with your blood you bought persons for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,10and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth.” Revelation 5:9-10
God is a Spirit. He cannot bleed. His Son, while on earth was a man, so he was the one who sacrificed his life to accomplish his Fathers will.

Yes, yes, we all know what John 1:1 says in many Bible translations. We also know that many other translations, they indicate that Jesus is “a god”. So which is it?
All of us have to do the research to make sure which translation is correct. We need to know how the Greek word for “GOD” and “god” differs from each other. If we are too lazy to find out, then we will remain as we are, confused and argumentative with each other. Remember Jesus’ words; “the truth will set you free”. Free from erroneous teachings.

Funny thing is Jesus hated churches and likely never wanted anyone to donate $ much less 10% of their efforts. Its common sense people.

I’m not concerned at all about my own salvation, and I’m surprised that you don’t know we should be concerned about others.
I have been a faithful Beck viewer for at least 5 years, and I now support him with a Plus membership. I hated his delivery when I first heard him on radio, but I could not ignore the truth in his message. And now I am addicted to his show, but entirely baffled at his ignorance of the truth concerning Mormonism. Why is he so good at ferreting out the truth when it comes to politics, but can’t see through the Mormon deception when it is so blatantly obvious to myself and many others.
I don’t relish the idea of my money supporting Mormonism, and since Glenn says he tithes at least 10%, that’s where some of it is going. Since I can’t go on Glenn’s show and discuss Mormonism with him, nor do I want to, that’s not why I pay to watch, this is the only way for me to offer a rebuttal. He won’t engage me in email, I have tried. I even offered my phone number.
There is nothing vindictive in my reason for pointing out what I believe is heresy in the church. Glenn claims to be a Christian and he had a captive audience, at my expense, when he promoted what I believe to be a distorted vision of Mormonism. Don’t you think it’s fair that I should have a say also?

Mormons admittedly preach a different Jesus, a different god, and a different gospel than traditional Christianity teaches. So different, that they really have nothing to do with each other besides the fact that they use the same words, but to describe entirely different things.
See for yourself. The following is copied directly from the official LDS.org web site.
http://tinyurl.com/8o2uzzl
“Though most people who believe the Bible accept the idea of a Godhead composed of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, Joseph Smith revealed an understanding of the Godhead that differed from the views found in the creeds of his day. The main Christian sects of the nineteenth century taught of “one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity, neither confounding the persons: nor dividing the Substance” and of “one only living and true God, … a most pure spirit, invisible, without body, parts, or passions, immutable, immense, eternal, incomprehensible.” 4 Although other churches and individuals held that the Father and the Son are separate entities, 5 Joseph Smith uniquely taught that the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are three distinct personages, with the Father and the Son having bodies of “flesh and bones as tangible as man’s,” and with the Holy Ghost being a “personage of Spirit.” (D&C 130:22.)”

You are correct for once. We do reject the creeds of “learned” men that gathered in nicea and Constantinople.
We proclaim the same Jesus who, after risen from death, visited disciples with his resurrected body of FLESH and BONE, had them feel the prints in His body to show them he was tangible, and ate with them. This is the Christ we proclaim, not an invisible spirit of nothingness. We were created in His image.

However, it needs to be said that his being a Mormon, according to Gods, word Beck is not saved. While I can agree with Beck on almost all of his political and moral beliefs I have to part ways when He attempts to share his religeous practices with me and my family. It is Becks relegious duty to convert anyone outside his faith to Mormoinism. It is the mandate of Christianity to spread the gospel as well. Christianity and Mormonism are diametrically opposed to each other. Beck is forced and duty bound to spread his false gospel. His gospel does not save. Only Christ Jesus saves. 1 Faith, 1 Baptism, 1 Triune God. Beck has and is using his conservative beliefs, star staus, as a launching pad to spread Moromonism. I as well spread my belief, but only in the begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. That is my mandate as well. Differance between Christianity and Mormonism is Christianity Saves through Jesus Christ the living Son of God. Moromonism does not acknowlege Jesus, Christ as the only begotten Son of God. From that point on there is no discussion, debate, or conessions, no quarter given to a false doctrine called Mormonism.

Tim 3:14But you remain in the things which you have learned and have been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them. 15From infancy, you have known the holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus. 16Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, 17that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

“and everything anyone needs to know for salvation, had already been given and was already in place when Jesus and the Apostles lived.”
That is a great point that I can agree with. When Jesus left Peter with the power to bind things both in heaven and on earth, He also left the foundation of Apostles and Prophets, Jesus being the chief cornerstone.
Ephesians 4 tells us that Jesus gave apostles and prophets for the perfecting of the saints and the unifying of the body of Christ “Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive”
This tells me Jesus won’t step giving us apostles and prophets “TILL” or until we come in the unity of faith. Are you telling me that Constantine brought this unity of the faith so Apostles and prophets weren’t needed? There were prophets that came after Jesus died (Agabus) and another apostle was called to replace Judas, but from the readings of Paul, the church began to be corrupted from within and the Apostles were killed off.
The only copying and pasting I did there was to put the scripture up. Try to reply with your own words now. What do you think of prophets after Jesus and Judas being replaced?

Sep. 30, 2012 at 1:25amRespectfully, I don’t believe this was an appropriate forum for you to preach from. Glenn Beck spent 11 minutes interviewing David Barton, an American evangelical Christian minister. I would not have known from that interview that Beck was a Mormon if I had not already known. A few days ago Beck hosted an online event with 140,000 conservative Catholics. He’s interviewed Jews, Muslims even.
Beck has offered a forum for a variety of conservative faiths without the distorting effect of having to collect money to pay for it. That is more than can be said for much of what passes for Christian broadcasting today, where the Gospel might get tweaked to cover the nut, and then some. Regarding your particular statement of belief, I know of conservative evangelical Christians who read the Bible line, by line, by line, who after all that do not find where baptism is necessary. They baptize as an outward celebration only. You, the Catholics, and Mormons, may strongly disagree with them. But what we all have in common is the desire to practice our personal faiths without state coercion. That is what this election is unfortunately coming to, and what I believe Glenn Beck, David Barton, and for that matter, Romney/Ryan all support. I for one do not want to live in a world where our religious beliefs are censored, or coerced into a common faith, or into no faith at all (atheism). That should be our common ground going into this election.

Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be satisfied. Jesus will reveal Himself to those who seek God with all their heart. Sound doctrine is good but doctrine and church membership in itself doesn’t save. I have no interest in Joseph Smith and never will. I also have no interest in those the so called protestant churches that embrace perversion when they reject the Creator and worship the creation.
It is those who are lead by the Spirit of God who are the children of God. Anybody who loves Jesus by knowing Him through His Word is correctable and will spiritually grow. Abraham was chosen from a tribe of star worshippers. He was correctable by faith in Gods Word, His promises.
Glenn acknowledges Jesus as Lord and Saviour, he knows that Jesus has been raised from the dead so he is born again. Glen loves the Word of God. As with any of us, to the extent the Glenn chooses to know God and who he is in Christ, he will overcome the world that Jesus already overcame for us.
The church of Jesus is His body. His body of believers are those who choose the revelation knowledge of God as revealed by His Holy Spirit. They will grow in stature and grace as the Holy Spirit reveals His Holy Spirit inspired written Word. Only then will His own leave off the religious traditions of man that are powerless to save.

I don’t think that just because Glenn acknowledges “a” Jesus as Lord and Savior or that he knows that Jesus has been raised from the dead, even the Jesus of the Bible, that he is born again. I have to ask, which Jesus does Glenn believe in?
Just because Glenn claims to love the Word of God, doesn’t mean he’s saved any more than any other Mormon. Which Word? Which God?
If Glenn believes in the Mormon God and Jesus, he is not saved. If he believes in the God of the Bible, why does he embrace Mormonism?

So, according to you, there are thousands of different Jesus’ around the world. Each “Christian” faith has its own take on Jesus. Some believe Calvin’s “perseverance of the saints” and some the more non-traditional “free grace” theology and some “lordship salvation” with its “irresistible faith”, while others believe James that “faith without works is dead”. Some churches believe in the trinity, some like the Presbyterian church are flexible and, according to a USA article I read “allow experimenting with alternatives to ‘Father, Son and Holy Spirit’.
Do you believe you are alone in thinking that you have the correct definition and interpretation? Also, you don’t want to say which church you belong to, but will you admit that all of us have different ideas of who Jesus is? What makes you right? The Bible? Because we read it too, so do most “Christian” denominations.
God will judge our hearts. He alone knows how sincere we are. I don’t claim to know who will be saved and who won’t, but I believe God is merciful and forgiving, and will judge us on our intents as well.

I been up so long that I am not the coherent blogger I should be.
I trust God to be the Author and Finisher of the faith of those who want to proceed with Him. My disappointment with church doctrines extends beyond the Mormon church to all who expect little from God. As I recall, Jesus said, If you will not take Me at My Word, at least believe Me for the works I do. These works include healing the sick, raising the dead, controlling the weather, and so on. I am more interested in the Word of God which is the power of God for Salvation than denominational doctrines that exhibit a form of godliness but deny the power thereof.
Those who are really growing in the knowledge of Christ will be exalted by God at the end of this church age. It doesn’t glorify God to remain like the world. For many this will mean leaving a denomination or church body that is out of Gods will and joining a body of believers that God wills. The time is near, and it is a waste of time to critique others who want Christ. Critiquing others does not elevate me. Those who are His are His church and that which is not of God will be removed from them.
Good night!

I spoke of concern for “who” Jesus is, in another thread so I won’t repeat myself here, but that essentially is the issue. When someone claims to believe in Jesus, shouldn’t we ask, who is this Jesus that you have faith in?
Mark 8: 27Jesus went out, with his disciples, into the villages of Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked his disciples, “Who do men say that I am?” 28They told him, “John the Baptizer, and others say Elijah, but others: one of the prophets.” 29He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ.” 30He commanded them that they should tell no one about him.
31He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. 32He spoke to them openly. Peter took him, and began to rebuke him. 33But he, turning around, and seeing his disciples, rebuked Peter, and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you have in mind not the things of God, but the things of men.”

The trinity, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. All three are God.
Jesus and the Holy Spirit were with God when he created earth, when he created man.
All scripture relating to this refer to God in the plural sense.
The word is God and God is the word, as Jesus was God in the flesh when he walked the earth.

“God can in no way be described.” — Plato (Father of the pagan Trinity)
In the preface to Edward Gibbon’s History of Christianity, we read: “If Paganism was conquered by Christianity, it is equally true that Christianity was corrupted by Paganism. The pure Deism of the first Christians . . . was changed, by the Church of Rome, into the incomprehensible dogma of the trinity. Many of the pagan tenets, invented by the Egyptians and idealized by Plato, were retained as being worthy of belief.”
“Christendom has done away with Christianity without being quite aware of it” (Soren Kierkegaard, cited in Time magazine, Dec. 16, 1946, p. 64).
Click here for an updated version of this page.
“The three-in-one/one-in-three mystery of Father, Son and Holy Ghost made tritheism official. The subsequent almost-deification of the Virgin Mary made it quatrotheism . . . Finally, cart-loads of saints raised to quarter-deification turned Christianity into plain old-fashioned polytheism. By the time of the Crusades, it was the most polytheistic religion to ever have existed, with the possible exception of Hinduism. This untenable contradiction between the assertion of monotheism and the reality of polytheism was dealt with by accusing other religions of the Christian fault.

Sep. 29, 2012 at 4:38pmGETMEOUT, Let’s do a little arm chair exegesis
Mark 9:38John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone who doesn’t follow us casting out demons in your name; and we forbade him, because he doesn’t follow us.”
Notice they were casting out demons in Jesus’ name, and the only Jesus around at that time was Jesus Christ Himself. Not Jesus Weinberger, or Jesus Schwartzman or Jesus Goldberg.
.
39But Jesus said, “Don’t forbid him, for there is no one who will do a mighty work in my name, and be able quickly to speak evil of me.
This clarifies the fact that it was “this” particular Jesus, who’s Name was being invoked to cast out demons. Not just “any” Jesus, but that One True Jesus Christ.
40For whoever is not against us is on our side. 41For whoever will give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because you are Christ’s, most certainly I tell you, he will in no way lose his reward.
For one to “be Christ’s,” one first must believe in Christ. Not just any Christ, and one must have achieved the reward, for to lose it. The reward is achieved by having faith in Jesus Christ, and again, not just any Jesus Christ.
I agree with all the good things said about Beck, but either knowingly or not, he has aligned himself with the Mormon God and Mormon Jesus, and they are clearly not the same Jesus and God described in the Bible. That doesn’t make him a bad person or evil, he’s either confused, indifferent, or in denial.

These are all at odds with each other. One Jesus says “as long as you accept me once, nothing you can do after will change your salvation“ while another says ”you don’t have a choice in the matter, I’m choosing you to be able to accept me“ while James says ”faith without works is dead”. These are all at odds with each other and sound like different Jesus’ to me. Which one is the right Biblical Jesus?

“If anyone teaches a different doctrine…”
So what if they teach the same doctrine? You look at that scripture as only saying “If an angel teaches ANYTHING, its wrong” when in reality it is saying if an angel teaches a DIFFERENT gospel, then let them be accursed. You error in the same way you read Jesus warning of false prophets. Jesus doesnt say “beware of anyone claiming to be a prophet”. If that’s what he mean, he wouldve said it that way. He tells us how to tell true prophets, “by their fruits ye shall know them”.

We must round up ALL MUSLIMS (like they did with Japanese and contained them in CA, because they didn’t know who was good or bad)… (use the FEMA Camps to hold them in – that’s what they are supposedly for (although we know better…). Sep. 29, 2012 at 1:48pmA few points:
The Bible says you shall know a man by his fruit. In other words, you know a man by not just the words that come from his mouth, BUT WHAT HE ACTUALLY DOES with the talents he has been given.
I was skeptical of Glenn when I first learned he was mormon, but the man has proved himself. He truly seeks God’s wisdom and his heart. There is ultimately truth is his message that the only way to win this twisted and mostly evil political process is with love and seeking God. Glenn has put his ass on the line many a time — both in his reporting and in where he puts his wealth (who do you know who shells out millions on renting Dallas Cowboys Stadium with no guarantee of reimbursement?). He gives generously of himself to the cause of liberty and awakening people to the spiritual foundation of this incredible country, which the great majority of us, apparently, have totally forsaken and forgotten.
Glenn has taken enormous risks getting his message out, and there is blessing that comes with that. As a mormon, Glenn has done immensely more with his talents than many so-called leaders of the faith I follow, some of whom don’t have a fraction of the courage and tenacity that Glenn has. God works in mysterious ways, folks. If you discount Mr. Beck based strictly on the fact that he is mormon, then you do so at your own peril, because this is a man who is committed to finding and shining light on the truth for the rest of us — something truly rare in journalism now.

The christ of mormonism is not the christ of the bible. If Glenn Beck were earnestly seeking God then it would not be through mormonism.
Take note how well mormons and chocaholics are embracing one another. Each is a cult with extra biblical writings that each cult gives equal or greater authority to those writings over that of the Scriptures.

John 1:1 saying “the Word was God” should be translated “the Word was a god.” This has to be, because the entire rest of the book of John indicates Jesus is the Son of our God Jehovah.- Psalms 83:18 (KJV)
Serious research into the proper translation of John 1:1 into English will help in understanding this important point.

Jesus’ early followers did not view him as being equal to Almighty God. For example, the apostle Paul wrote that after Jesus was resurrected, God “”exalted him [Jesus] to a superior position.”” Obviously, Paul did not believe that Jesus was Almighty God. Otherwise, how could God exalt Jesus to a superior position? —Philippians 2:9.

I can assure you that the rendering which the Jehovah’s Witnesses give John 1:1 is not held by any reputable Greek scholar. -Charles L. Feinberg (authority on the Jewish history, languages and customs of the Old Testament and Biblical prophecies June 12, 1909 – August 22, 1995)
If John merely wanted to say that Jesus was divine, he would have used the preferred common adjective in the Greek language, which would have clearly communicated this idea. Or, he would not have used one of the strongest Greek words for absolute deity (theos).

Sep. 29, 2012 at 5:13pmRapture – I’m not arguing that mormonism isn’t a form of a cult. I actually agree that it is. I’m only saying Glenn is genuine and sincere in what he believes, and God still uses people like that and He still chases after them. Ultimately, The Deity decides what to do with all of us, and only He can judge the soul. As the good book says, it comes down to what you do with Christ, and whether you acknowledge his sacrifice for the sin of all men.
Mormons by and large are good, decent, kind, and moral people, and they still reap the blessings of choosing to live a moral life. Just look at how much the Mormon church is worth! The laws of God’s blessings, and obeying his commandments aren’t for believers only. They apply to everyone who puts them in practice, even those of us who may have a misguided view of who Christ really was.
Glenn may have an incorrect interpretation of Christ’s true identity, but it doesn’t make him a devil. It may make him deceived by the likes of Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, etc. but certainly not “Satanic.” Glenn is a genuine fellow. There is nothing artificial or selfish in what he does. He truly wants to use the life and talents he’s been given to make the world better, and preserve what America truly stands for, and I applaud him for taking that huge risk, which does not come without some suffering, and even the threat of death. I believe that in Glenn’s quest for truth, he will eventually find that truth in the person of Christ also.

For everyone else… The WTS argues taht since the second occurrence of theos (God) in John 1:1 has no definite article (the), it thus refers to a lesser deity who simply has godlike qualities.
For WHITEFANG: The Greek English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature by William F. Arndt and F. Wilbur Gingrich says that the word theos is used “quite predominantly of the true God, sometimes with, sometimes without the article.”
Example: Luke 20:38 “He is a God, not of the dead, but of the living” NWT
Jehova’s Witnesses cannot say Jesus is not God Almighty on the basis that the second theos in John 1:1 lacks a definite article.

When we read the scriptures, we are obliged to consider the context of the surrounding text. This is necessary to understand the true meaning of a statement. We cannot insist the “the Word was God” when the entire book of John contradicts that translation of John 1:1
How can we establish the true meaning of John 1:14, 18, and 17:1-26, 20:31 when we are holding to the idea that Jesus is God? In fact, all the Holy Scriptures do not support the idea that the Messiah Jesus is God the Father.

For starters, words such as I Am, God, Alpha and Omega, Lord, Savior, King, Judge, Light, Rock, Redeemer, Our Righteousness, Husband, Shepherd, Creator, Giver of Life, Forgiver of Sin, Lord our Healer, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent, Preexistent, Eternal, Immutable, Receiver of Worship, Speaker With Divine Authority, ….are all used to describe both Yahweh and Jesus in the Bible. You see, that is the problem, most do not want to find out what the scriptures actually say, they want someone to tell them what they mean, to interpret them to coincide with their pre-conceived doctrines. The Berians were not like that were they? They were willing to search the scriptures to make sure of what they said. If we want to know the truth, we will be motivated to make sure of why we believe as we do. If someone is too lazy to find out, then they cannot be enlightened by anyone.

Why do you have to complicate the Bible so much? You don’t need a million scriptures to show that Jesus Christ is Jehovah, Lord and God.
John 20:27-29 “Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
That shows the error of believing Jesus isn’t God. Where you error is earlier in the chapter when Jesus is speaking with Mary and refers to God the Father ” I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.”
Our God is Jesus’ God, His Father is our Father.

clearly, white fang is not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints, sounds more like a Jehovah’s Witness. Mormons believe Jesus to be Jehovah of the Old Testament. I’m in no position to tell Jehovah’s Witnesses what they believe but I’ll let Whitefang explain if he wants to.
Another verse giving us more insight into God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ, is right in the beginning of the Bible. Gen 1:26 “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness”. Mormons believe Jesus Christ created the earth under the direction of His Father and our Father, His God and our God.
An explanation of the oneness of The Father and the Son is in John 17:21-23 as Jesus prays to His Father “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me
Jesus prays that His followers might be one, as Jesus and His Father our one. I don’t think Jesus was praying for His followers to become one in the same substance as Trinitarianism believes, but one in purpose.

Mormons do not teach that Jesus is the Jehovah of the OT. They teach that their version of Christ is a created spirit being and not God the Father is spite of what Isaiah 9:6 says and most of the other cults follow along these same lines.
Of this I am certain because that is what I do, I take on cults head to head and have done so for few years.
I study them in order to counter them and there is no reasoning with a wolf in sheep’s clothing. There is only EXPOSING them in warning to others.

You are perceptive. I am one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
This matter being discussed is difficult for many to understand due to the traditional apostate teaching of the Trinity. It is important to understand the true nature of our Lord Jesus Christ and not to fall into ascribing to him what he is not.
The following needs to be read slowly, carefully and with a desire to understand it’s great importance:
For God loved the world so much that he gave his only‐begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.17For God sent forth his Son into the world, not for him to judge the world, but for the world to be saved through him.18He that exercises faith in him is not to be judged. He that does not exercise faith has been judged already, because he has not exercised faith in the name of the only‐begotten Son of God.19Now this is the basis for judgment, that the light has come into the world but men have loved the darkness rather than the light, for their works were wicked.20For he that practices vile things hates the light and does not come to the light, in order that his works may not be reproved.21But he that does what is true comes to the light, in order that his works may be made manifest as having been worked in harmony with God.” John 3:16-21

I think we both agree that The Father and the Son are separate beings, but I refer back to Thomas’ interaction with the risen Lord. He referred to Jesus as “my Lord and my God”. We would assume that if Thomas was attributing too much to Jesus, Jesus would have corrected him as he had done in the past as in John 7:16-18
“16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.”
If Thomas would have inappropriately referred to Christ as “his God”, then from earlier instances, Jesus would have rebuked him because “he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him”

Sep. 29, 2012 at 10:43pmJoey8,
John 20:28 says; In answer Thomas said to him: “My Lord and my God!”
Thomas said to Jesus “My Lord”, and then “my God!” as an exuberant exclamation.
Why do some think or imply he meant that Jesus was God the Father? He did not say that, he simply said ‘My Lord and…. my God!’
And we have no problem referring to the King James Version, or any other translation for that matter. We are students of God’s Word and by referring to various translation we get a rounded out understanding God’s Word. We use the New World Translation as our primary Bible as it is accurate and easy to read.

I would agree with you if it said “My Lord, My God” but that is not what it says. I’ll quote it again. This is the KJV, no special changes or translations.
“And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God”. All of the other translations say it that way too.
The straight greek translation is “answered Thomas and said to him, the Lord of me and the God of me!”
Pretty cool, check it out. http://biblos.com/john/20-28.htm

Sep. 29, 2012 at 11:17pmQuite frankly, Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses can believe anything they want. But they are not Christians. Mormons because their own doctrine denounces all other churches and teaches that they are not Christians, and Jehovah’s Witnesses because the deny the Father and the Son.
1 John 2:18Little children, these are the end times, and as you heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen. By this we know that it is the final hour. 19They went out from us, but they didn’t belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have continued with us. But they left, that they might be revealed that none of them belong to us. 20You have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all have knowledge. 21I have not written to you because you don’t know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth. 22Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. 23Whoever denies the Son, the same doesn’t have the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also. 24Therefore, as for you, let that remain in you which you heard from the beginning. If that which you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son, and in the Father.

Compare that with 2 John 24 and all we have to do is look, and we can plainly see that your “latter day” gospels are false.

If the Father is Elohim and Jesus is Jehovah (as Mormons teach), how does a Mormon explain Deuteronomy 6:4, which in the Hebrew says, “Hear, O Israel: Jehovah our Elohim is one Jehovah”? Also, if the designation LORD God (Jehovah Elohim) is a reference to two individuals, why are singular pronouns used in Deuteronomy 6:13?

Which view of Jesus is the right one? I’ve asked you 3 times now and you refuse to answer, you seem to be “ashamed of the gospel”. Man up and tell us what you believe, quit hiding behind the “Im a Bible Christian”. Do you follow Calvin’s “perseverance of the saints” like your bereancall website does or do you follow the more non-traditional “free grace” theology or the “lordship salvation” with its “irresistible faith”? These are all at odds with each other. One Jesus says “as long as you accept me once, nothing you can do after will change your salvation“ while another says ”you don’t have a choice in the matter, I’m choosing you to be able to accept me“ while James says ”faith without works is dead”. These are all at odds with each other and sound like different Jesus’ to me. Which one is the right Biblical Jesus?

Sep. 30, 2012 at 12:23amSo, Joey8, what exactly is your point here? Are you suggesting Jesus is his Father Jehovah? That they are the same personage? Are you suggesting Thomas had a wrong or right understanding of Jesus’ true nature? Was he confused?
Either Jehovah is the Father, the Almighty God and Creator or he isn’t. (Psalms 83:18 KJV)
Either Jesus is God’s Son or he isn’t. (John 3:16-17)
This Trinity Doctrine is one of the stupidest, most confusing lie ever concocted.
It has completely confused all of Christendom as to the true nature of our God and His Son. Suggesting they are some mysterious three-in-one god.
Since Trinitarians insist on misrepresenting our God and His Son, who then is the real Anti-Christ? It is the one who lies about Jehovah God and His Son Jesus, the Christ, the Messiah, the anointed sacrificial Lamb of God.
Above, I have given scriptural reasons for understanding this issue but I guess it was to no avail.
I will not mis-represent my God Jehovah, nor will I mis-represent my saviour Jesus Christ, God’s Son.

“What do you think that says about Christ’s nature when it is declared that the “full measure,“ ”completeness,“ ”totality,“ ”sum total” of deity dwells in Him?”
Like I said before, it describes Jesus as the great Jehovah, King if Kings. As the Book of Mormon teachs:
” …I would that ye should understand thataGod himself shall come down among the children of men, and shall redeem his people.
And because he dwelleth in flesh he shall be called the Son of God, and having subjected the flesh to the will of the Father, being the Father and the Son”
My belief can reconcile the scripture you quoted with John 14:28
“Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I”
I can say Jesus is the Great Jehovah and at the same time, understand when He says that His Father is greater than He. Also, when He says in John 7:16
“Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.”
Jesus always gave glory to the Father for His Father was greater than He, they are NOT equal and to say so is not only unbiblical but blasphemous. So between Jesus saying “…my God and your God” and His Father is greater than He is, I can see where you run into problems

Those are the right questions to ask. How can Jesus, the Son of God be called “Lord and God” by His apostle but at the same time, say that his God is our God, his Father our Father? It is because they are two seperate beings with glorified bodies of flesh and bone. Jesus Christ, Jehovah, under the direction of His Father, Elohim, created this earth. Jesus was the God of the Old Testament and spoke in behalf of His Father because of their oneness in purpose (not in physical substance). I don’t want to sound if I’m demeaning their roles, but I think of our life experience as a construction site, Jesus being the lead foreman and the Father being the architect/main investor. The Father engineered the plan and Jesus carries it out. They are on the same page in everything and their main goal and purpose is us. The only time the Father has ever interacted with man was to introduce His Son, Jesus as He did at Jesus’ baptism and Jesus’ transfiguration and their visit to the young boy Joseph Smith.

And I agree that the trinitarian doctrine is not Biblical and was mean to completely confuse followers of Jesus so that only their “educated” leaders could explain it to them. John 17:3 states:
“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
eternal life is knowing God and His Son, so it would make sense that Satan would attempt to make God this unknowable, unthinkable 3 in 1, present everywhere and nowhere, mysterious being.

Sep. 30, 2012 at 1:01amOops, I forgot the Mormons.
Some of the following is shamelessly paraphrased or copied and pasted from utlm.org
Mormon contradictions and confusion concerning latter day prophets:
LDS Apostle B. H. Roberts wrote, “Saddening as the thought may seem, the Church founded by the labors of Jesus and His Apostles was destroyed from the earth; the Gospel was perverted; its ordinances were changed; its laws were transgressed; its covenant was, on the part of man, broken; and the world was left to flounder in the darkness of a long period of apostasy from God… a universal apostasy from the Christian doctrine and the Christian Church took place” (D.H.C., Vol. I, Introduction, pp. 39 and 41).
The Bible disagrees: “other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ” (I Cor. 3:11). Since Jesus Christ is the Foundation of the church, could that church “collapse” or become extinct when the omnipotent Christ is the Foundation of it? Is it possible for Christ to lose “the church of God which He hath purchased with His own blood” (Acts 20:28; Eph. 5:25)? Christ is called the “Good Shepherd” in John 10:11. But, any shepherd who loses all his sheep is not a very good shepherd.

Even Mormon scripture denies a total or universal apostasy. The B. of M. III Nephi 28 and the D. & C., Section 7, tell the story of the Apostle John and three “Nephite” apostles who were to remain alive on the earth until the second coming of the Lord! If four apostles have been on earth since the time of Christ, a universal apostasy could not have taken place during that time according to President Joseph Fielding Smith, the 10th Prophet, Seer and Revelator of the LDS Church. He said, “As long as one elder remains on earth today he would have the priesthood and could organize the church even though all of the apostles and first presidency, etc., were killed off” (Latter Day Prophets Speak by David H. Ludlow, p. 213). Can that be true of the LDS Church today and not have been true for the original church after which the LDS Church claims to be patterned? Thus, even if a universal apostasy took place, the four Apostles who never died could have restored the church without Smith’s help!

You need to be careful there. That is a bad argument to try and work through. Did Jesus error in selecting Judas as an Apostle? Don’t try to go down that road. We all have our agency and God will never take that away from us.
Also, your argument works for Roman Catholics as they believe Peter was in a sense the first Pope.
Take the time to read through the epistles of Paul to the galatian church, thesselonican church, and colossian church. Problems ranged from divisions and abusing the Lords supper to false teachers. Just reading the Epistles, you get an idea of the trouble the Apostles had, no phones or airplanes or cars to correct false teachings right away.
In Paul’s second epistle to church in thessalonia, he had to teach them about the second coming of Christ. They became so zealous for Christ’s glorious second coming that they abandoned the responsibilities of living for Christ in this life. Read what Paul said 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3
“Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition”

Why does that seem so silly to you? What was one of the things Jesus did when after he was risen and resurrected and visited his disciples? He ate with them, had them feel the prints in his hands and feet and side. Do you not believe that part of the Bible? Did the disciples feel his body and the prints in his hands? Did Jesus just get rid of that body after visiting his disciples? That sounds silly to me, especially if you believe that Jesus will come again and the prophecies of the Old Testament will be fullfilled, including Zech 13:6
“And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.”
It’s absurd to think that Jesus had a body of flesh and bone with the scars in his hands, feet, and side, but that he got rid of it or put it in the closet until his second coming when he visits the Jews and they ask Him “what are those wounds in your hands?”
What sounds absurd here?

LOL do you not read my answers to your questions? I thought you were an honest truth seeker, but you don’t seem interested in the answers, only on how many questions you can cut and paste.
So, you are arguing that Jesus’ church that he set up with Apostles and Prophets never fell away? Won’t you be held accountable for not being Roman Catholic then? Wouldn’t that mean that churches that broke away or “protested” the Catholic church are apostates?
As for the 3 Nephite Apostles, they were given a specific mission, to go “unto all nations, kindreds, tongues and people, and … bring out of them unto Jesus many souls, that their desire may be fulfilled”. The church organization both in the Book of Mormon and New Testament was destroyed not because of a lack of Apostles, but because of corruptness and doctrinal changes. God is in charge of calling prophets and you can’t deny that if He wants to send a prophet, he can and will, but from you Old Testament reading, you know that when the people reject prophets and kill them, they lose that gift from God
Question for you, can there be a falling away even with Prophets and Apostles around? Think back on your Old Testament reading

Sep. 30, 2012 at 8:42amI have been snookered. I thought Joey8 was one who had some scriptural understanding but it turns out, according to his 12:41am comment, he is a Mormon trying to bring the Bible into a conversation that cannot coalesce with the Book of Mormon. The two cannot be combined to create a accurate understanding of who the true God is. The Bible is God’s Word to mankind and to bring in a new, different approach to the Bible’s clear message can only result in confusion. This is evident from Joey8′s 12:41am comment.
God is a Spirit and we must worship him with spirit and truth, not with inaccuracies, false ideas, and slick words meant to confuse and deceive.
Jehovah God is one God, not three. Jesus is the Christ, God’s Son. Father and Son, yes it is that simple. Not hard to understand.
The Mormons do not believe in the Trinity but it is not for the same reason that Jehovah’s Witnesses reject it. Although there is respect between us, there is no connection or agreement as to theology. The Book of Mormon cannot be incorporated with the Bible, it does not work. Trying to use the Book of Mormon along with the Bible only results in confusion and I can not participate in that course.

The Holy Scriptures tell the truth, religious ideologies do not.
For even though there are those who are called “gods,” whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many “gods” and many “lords,”6 there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him; and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are, and we through him.

You summed up JOEY8′s motives when you noted: “inaccuracies, false ideas, and slick words meant to confuse and deceive.”
Isn’t it sad?
And you are certainly right that the Book of Mormon and the Bible are totally incompatible. ADMITTEDLY Mormons teach different doctrines with a different god, a different Jesus and an entirely different gospel than that of Christianity, then they try and sell themselves as Christians. But calling themselves Christian is just a ploy, used to get close to Christians, and then sway them AWAY from Christianity and the true Jesus, and ultimately their salvation.
Engaging JOEY8 has exposed to others how the Mormon Church indoctrinates their youth. Once they have it ingrained in their thinking that the Holy Spirit has led them to the truth, it’s hard to reason with them that a “burning in the bosom” is not sufficient evidence to accept lies and blatant deceptions.
They give these kids an important sounding name, “missionary,” then toss these naive children to the wolves, sending them out knocking on doors to sell the Mormon snake oil. They have stuffed their empty little mush brains with Mormon doctrines and taught them how to lie and wrangle around the tough issues. We can see this demonstrated in JOEY8 and how angry and desperate these kids become when the truth threatens their frail belief systems.
Mormonism is the skin of a reason stuffed with lie. But it’s just a big fat sausage once you cook it.

I didn’t realize we were ever “engaged” in any type of discussion. It has been you copying someone elses questions and me answering them. You refuse to answer any question I ask, to declare your faith, or to discuss any of the answers I give you. When I answer something, you just move to the next question on the website you’re copying from. I’m not surprised because that has been my experience with people that have an agenda against my faith.
I like that your only explanation is that I’ve been indoctrinated but at the same time, you dismiss the Holy Ghost as the teacher of truth. Remember previously when we talked about Jesus asking Peter who he thinks Jesus is? Peter says “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.”
If you rely on the Bible to “prove” to you that Jesus is the Son of God, then you are missing everything that Jesus taught which is where I think you misunderstand what the Bereans were really about. You are counting on “flesh and blood” to reveal it, rather than you “Father which is in heaven”.
Don’t be so quick to dismiss the Holy Ghost.

Oct. 1, 2012 at 11:27amL.B.Stephens asked: “How and why did the Trinity Doctrine develop?”
The doctrine was developed sometime after the Council of Nicaea in 325 C.E when Constantine summoned all Bishops to decide the Nature of Christ. They asserted that Jesus is of the same substance as God, but the doctrine of the Trinity came later after the Holy Spirit was also considered.
The doctrine teaches that there is only one God, but three persons, manifest in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you”
The Holy Ghost will teach all things. Christ never promised to send the Bible to teach us all things. We also read in 1 Cor 12:
“Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost”
You are so quick to dismiss my faith because we rely on the Holy Ghost to teach and confirm truths, and you seem to think that the only way to gain a witness of Jesus Christ is by reading the Bible. That is a good starting point, but the Holy Ghost is the witness, and we are told in James:
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.”
Wow, we’ve been indoctrinated to trust what the Holy Ghost teaches us rather than what we can teach ourselves. What a terrible religion.

One more thing I have to comment on that you said that just wasn’t correct.
“it was the Holy Spirit who brought me to the knowledge of the truth, through the Gospel as I read the Bible. This is the same method all Christians use for discernment”
What about the early Christians who didn’t have the Bible? They were able to gain a witness of Jesus Christ by listening to Apostles. So reading the Bible wasn’t the method those Christians used for discernment. Makes me feel fortunate to know that there are Apostles and Prophets on the earth right now in addition to the words of old Prophets. Again, you speak for all Christians when you really are in no position to.

I’m probably not going to solve it for you in a few words. It took many years for me to finally understand.
True, the Bible does not use the word Trinity. However, words such as I Am, God, Alpha and Omega, Lord, Savior, King, Judge, Light, Rock, Redeemer, Our Righteousness, Husband, Shepherd, Creator, Giver of Life, Forgiver of Sin, Lord our Healer, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent, Preexistent, Eternal, Immutable, Receiver of Worship, Speaker With Divine Authority, ….are all used to describe both Yahweh and Jesus in the Bible.
The Trinity is revealed in the text in this manner, but I don’t think there is any doubt that the Apostles understood that Jesus Christ and the Father are of the same substance.
The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son. John 15:26 “When the Counselor has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me.
Jesus claimed to be equal with the Father in substance, John 5:37The Father himself, who sent me, has testified about me.” and John 8:2323He said to them, “You are from beneath. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world.John 12:49For I spoke not from myself, but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
Keep studying. You’ll figure it out.

Thank you for your reply. I have heard from many people with similar explanations.
But what about those other Bible translations (see Whitefang at September 29, 2012 at 5:15pm) that render John 1:1 differently than the King James Version? To me this is a very important matter because the true identity of Jesus Christ is involved.

Jehovah’s Witnesses read the Scriptures and interpret doctrine through the false prophet, the Watchtower Society. The WTS has been wrong many times in its future predictions. The New World Testament is the Bible Jehovah’s Witnesses use, and they do not list their scholars.
Scroll back through this thread and you will see a couple of my other comments along this line. I stated earlier: “I can assure you that the rendering which the Jehovah’s Witnesses give John 1:1 is not held by any reputable Greek scholar.” -Charles L.

Oct. 2, 2012 at 12:05pmThe trinity doctrine is confusing because it was meant to be. While I don’t agree with Jehovah’s witnesses on their belief that Jesus wasn’t the Great Jehovah, we do agree that the Father and the Son are not of the same substance. Their oneness is about their work and purpose. Trinitarian believers can never explain John 14:28 “Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I”
Jesus always gave glory to His Father and His God. Doctrines concocted by the learned men hundreds of years after Jesus and His Apostles died are not inspired by God and only serve to confuse (hence, thousands of Christian denominations).
You can read the Bible all you want, but the only way to learn truth is by asking God, James 1:5-6.
Amos 3:7, Ephesians 4, Ephesians 2:20. Men called of God are the answer, Prophets and Apostles. Jesus taught how to find true prophets, Matthew 7:16 “by their fruits”. Ask God in prayer, don’t reject the Holy Ghost just because others teach to.

I never said, and It doesn’t mean that, I don’t like “Jehovah’s Witnesses” just because I point out error in their doctrines. Don’t we have enough straw men arguments from the 14 yr old Mormon troll who keeps following me around trying to hump my leg?
The only problem that matters, for both Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses is that their “prophets” are false prophets. It only takes one false prophecy and we are not to listen to them because they don’t speak for God. Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses will wrangle all day with you, leading you down endless rabbit trails. But in the long run, nothing else really matters beyond that one simple fact, that their prophets are false prophets. Because of that, both religions fit the definition of “cults of Christianity,” and are blatant frauds.
What baffles me is that people will continue to live the lie, even after they have seen the truth. It just goes to show you that most people believe what makes them feel good rather than the truth. Even when it’s staring them right in the face.

A 1969 issue of the Watchtower magazine insisted that God’s faithful and discreet slave, is God’s sole “channel of communication” to His people. We are told that we cannot find the Scriptural guidance we need outside of the faithful and discreet slave “organization.”
Kinda sounds like Mormons and Catholics too, no?
But did you know that early WT literature claimed that Charles Taze Russel was God’s faithful and discreet slave? How do you explain the change in position on this very important issue?

Is the Father greater than Jesus? What happened to Jesus’ resurrected body of flesh and bone? What does “as a man speaketh with his friends” mean?is faith in Jesus Christ all you need or do you need the Bible in addition to that? Is the Father Jesus’ God and Father?

You stated that we should do as the Bereans, so do you believe we should follow the instructions in 1 Thessalonians 5:21 to test all things?
And should we also obey 2 Corinthians 13:5 and test whether we are “in the faith?”
The WTS teaches that 2 Peter 1:20 says that one must “not” come up with his own interpretation of Scripture, but instead to give heed to and rely on the meaning set forth by the WTS.
If God commands us to test all things by Scripture, and since The WT magazine invites critical examination of itself in the light of Scripture, are you willing to examine the teachings of the WTS in the light of Scripture “alone?”
What will you do if you find that certain teachings of the WTS go against what Scripture says?

To you, testing the scriptures means reading it really really hard and seeing if it means what you want LOL! I don’t have a copyright on James 1:5-6 so feel free to use that one too. Ask and ye shall receive, if any of you lack wisdom, ask of God, the Holy Ghost will teach you all things.
I’ve brought it up a few times before, did flesh and blood reveal to Peter that Jesus was the Christ, or was it His Father in heaven that revealed it?
We have so much confidence in God and his promise of answering prayers that we don’t need to convince people of the truth, we invite them to pray and ask God about it. You feel you need to “prove” it with your supposed intellect. Not how God works, even this 14 yr old knows that.

This forum is not the place to accomplish an in depth education of the Bible, but maybe when you are visited by Jehovah’s Witnesses, you could ask them a question or two.
The internet is proving itself to be an ineffective tool for speaking with people about belief and faith. There are too many opportunities for misunderstanding and too few people able to communicate in clear and concise sentences which promote their opinions.

The truth is only harsh when you discover that it is not what you had been lead to believe.
What would you have preferred that Jesus said in the face of heresy, instead of the following?
Matt 23: 13″Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and as a pretense you make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation. 14″But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you shut up the Kingdom of Heaven against men; for you don’t enter in yourselves, neither do you allow those who are entering in to enter.
15Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel around by sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much of a son of Gehenna as yourselves.
16″Woe to you, you blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.’ 17You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold? 18′Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obligated?’ 19You blind fools! For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift? 20He therefore who swears by the altar, swears by it, and by everything on it. 21He who swears by the temple, swears by it, and by him who was living in it. 22He who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by him who sits on it.

I don’t play the game, that’s what you see.
If the Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses would stop knocking on my door with their false gospels, I would stop knocking on your doors here. If Beck would stop spending so much time promoting the false Jesus of Mormonism that he believes in, I wouldn’t waste my time here correcting his errors. I’m a customer of Becks, and I’m concerned where my money goes and I really have better things to do than baby sit people who are too lazy to read and study the Bible for themselves..
I’m a man of principle, just like Beck, and I think it’s important to stand for the truth and point out error. Why do you have a problem, with that?
If I seem harsh its because of all the wrangling I’ve had to do with Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses over the years, so I just cut to the chase now. I don’t have to sell snake oil as they do, I have the truth. It’s not as pretty as your method, but much more efficient. I’ve spent many years chasing down theological rabbit trails, trying to pin them down on the issues, and that is impossible because they have their own set of rules.
The bottom line is, both of these religions are based on false prophecy, and the Bible teaches that false prophets are to be ignored. This has been true since 1400 BC and there is absolutely nothing more to discuss beyond those facts. You can beat around the bush and talk nice to people if you like, but it doesn’t make me wrong just because I do

Before you start crying about your character, grab a tissue, internet forums can be a tough place.
Let’s summarize the Jesus you say we should believe in:
1. He never spoke with Moses “face to face”
2. He doesn’t want you to pray for truth, he wants you to argue for it
3. He wasn’t resurrected with a body of flesh and bone that disciples felt
4. Faith in Him isn’t all you need
5. He didn’t let His church fall away, so the Catholic Church is still His authority
6. He changes, doesn’t speak to prophets anymore
7. He doesn’t have a God “my Father and your Father, my God and your God”
8. The Father isn’t greater than Him
9. He came to do His own will (since h sent himself)
10.He is a great mystery that only wise men as yourself can comprehend but refuse to share with us
Miss anything? You are right when you say we believe in a different Jesus than you

Thank you. Apology accepted.
And I admit my approach is pretty much “in your face,” but that’s the only way to compete against the very evil, deceitful and dishonest tactics these cults have actually been coached and trained to use to deceive people.
Such as the 10 blatantly dishonest straw men arguments set up in the message above. None of that is true, but some will still be deceived, and that is the goal. Deception is their modus operandi.
That’s why I don’t engage those people. They keep you busy chasing them down rabbit trails with distractions designed to disguise the truth. Spirituality to these heathens is nothing more than a game.
The cults don’t show up at your door telling you up front about the lies and false prophecies, instead they have been trained to ask leading questions that most Christians have no idea how to answer. And that is their edge. I have the 228 page Mormon missionary training manual which even describes how to speak in tongues. The “mission” of these cults is to tickle people’s ears so as to drag them away from the Jesus and teachings of the Bible and convert them to their restored gospel.
The only training manual a Christian needs are the 66 books of the Bible, but be forewarned. Unless you are fully prepared to defend Christianity and the Gospel, (and sadly most Christians simple are not) they will eat you alive.

Sep. 28, 2012 at 10:47pmDavid Barton showed us the many Proclamations for these prayer vigils calling for humiliation, fasting and prayer. The humiliation part was news to me. I had never heard of that before. It is a humbling of yourself before God. Admitting to yourself that you are not perfect but a flawed human being. Like all of us are.
This conversation between Beck and Barton where they talked about Barton’s new book called “The Founders Bible” was very interesting. David Barton said it was the most important book that he has ever written, and might be his last. I hope to read it soon.
They talked specifically about fasting. It can be just taking away something that you enjoy eating, like ice cream.
Anyway, the one thing I took from this show was the significance that these days of prayer had for many of the Founders and former Presidents as a way to remind themselves to take off their “cloaks” so to speak and accept the fact that they are all mortal and subject to human failings and that, like, them, no matter what our station in life we all need to get down on our knees on occasion and ask for Gods guidance because we don’t have all the answers. And never will.
Thanks for a great inspirational show. And for reminding us that only God’s Divine Providence can combat evil, and we need it more now than we ever have.
