SNL Thursday Special Mocks Obama’s Promise That Things Will Get Better: ‘I See Employed People’ Like That ‘Sixth Sense’ Movie
On Thursday, “Saturday Night Live” continued its Thursday night election-season specials, and they started things off with a blistering shot at the president’s unfulfilled promises of hope and change.
Actor Jay Pharoah played an aloof Obama at a campaign rally in Ohio. The sketch opens with the president welcoming the crowd with three words: “O. Hi. O.” That pretty much set the tone for the rest of it. Mediaite has a play-by-play of some of the best parts:
Obama was awkwardly confronted by a woman who doesnβt like Romney, but kind of expected more in the past four years. The president said that real change takes time, so itβs possible he βmight be long deadβ before anything actually changes. Obama was bullish about the economy, paraphrasing The Sixth Sense to say βI see employed people.β
Unfortunately for Obama, only one person at his rally had a real working job: a Burger King manager who used to be an executive at Bank of America. Obama tried to spin it as a βsuccess story,β but was soon faced with a man who chases raccoons out of foreclosed homes and a meth cook who Obama was pleased to see was βfired up.β
The “Sixth Sense” joke garnered the largest applause of the whole thing, playing off Obama’s tendency to blame people for just not fully understanding his message or their circumstance: “One day all of you will be Bruce Willis and you’ll realize you were employed all along.”
But that’s not all. There’s also Obama getting some math wrong and him noting his music ability. You can see the entire thing below:
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isnβt really about controlling guns at all; itβs about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

Posted on September 28, 2012 at 3:35pmcomments today are so predictable. SNL made fun of obama so it was funny.
I still like SNL. not as funny as when I was young but every generation believes that theirs was the funniest, and my generation (born 1959) is likely the most narcissistic about that.
next week if they take on Romney this board will be whinging again about how snl is not funny.

Posted on September 28, 2012 at 4:31pmThe Sarah Plain stuff from last campaign was hilarious. This year’s stuff about the Republicans was just not funny. Let’s face it, Mitt and Mitt Jr. are just not that funny. There’s way more good material on the Democrat side. They could have tons of fun with “blaming the anti-muslim video”, or Biden, or Obama golfing, or Obama snubbing Netanyahu, or “You didn’t build that”, or Obama’s Chicago Bathhouse Reunion…I could just see Obama, Ayers, Rham, and Larry in the steam room, and who stumbles in….Chris Mathews!!! Tingle-Time! Maybe a skit on Romney’s magic underwear as a super-anti-terrorist weapon would work? The team needs help, because I don’t care who you are, they’re not funny.

You will really be better 4 yrs from now if you vote for Obama again. You will then wish you could move to china or Russia. Trust me I can spot a naΓ―vetΓ© from miles. Snl is just a comedy show, don’t get too hung up, what’s a laughing stock some have become.

The “boxers or briefs” question directed at Clinton was inappropriate, as well.

Posted on September 29, 2012 at 5:28pmNot relevant huh? Lets see. In a little over five minutes the skit not only mocked Barry’s habit of blaming everyone else for the problems he created, they referenced four of the major economic consequences resulting from his intentional or incompetent interventions into our system. They referenced the terrible unemployment in the nation, chronic under-employment, the housing crisis, and the failure of small business all of which are both suffering under the Great Recession, as it is now being called, and whose continued malaise is contributing to it! Not to mention or at least imply that drug use and hunger are on the rise and even taking a shot at the lousy immigration policy of the current administration. All of this sounds extremely relevant to me because its all happening right now…and SNL was even funny when they did it!

Posted on September 28, 2012 at 10:15amI’m shocked that SNL actually made fun of the annointed one (even though it was kind of gentle). The fact is that good humour (not the ice cream) always has an element of truth.
The truth here is very sad as none of the people have decent jobs (but at least they have cell phones), yay!

They, much like Michael Moore, can see the writing on the wall. Practice saying “President Romney”.
No way would they entertain the thought of mocking their ‘annointed one’ if they thought he’d win.

Posted on September 29, 2012 at 5:46pmI agree. The skit was scary as well as funny because it was accurate! Barry does have the kind of pandering and condescending attitude presented by the comic. The problems made humorous by the skit are very real and the argument implied is that no one there was really better off than four years ago…in fact they were far worse off! The addendum that “Romney would be worse” at the end was mocking of the only remaining strategy Barry’s campaign is truly engaged in. Anyone undecided that has seen this and been awake for the last four years that does decide to vote for Barry, well let’s just say I agree with Alan West, “When I see an Obama bumper sticker on a car, I begin to worry about the gene pool.”
