Chicago Asks Twitter Users How to Get Guns Off the Streets Using #whatifchicago

(TheBlaze/AP) — The city of Chicago is asking residents with ideas on how to get illegal guns off the streets to share their thoughts – in 140 characters or fewer on Twitter.

The initiative is part of Chicago Ideas Week, an annual forum for innovators, artists, scientists and others to share ideas and inspire action.

Those who think they know how to cut off the flow of illegal guns into Chicago– which has strict gun control laws– are being asked to tweet suggestions with the hashtag #whatifchicago.

The best submitted ideas will be debated at an Oct. 11 panel discussion.

  If all guns vanished, murderous intent would still remain and another tool would take the gun’s place. What next then? Do like the UK and ban knives? When all sharp pointy objects are banned, do we move on to baseball bats, clubs, or any other object that is used to kill? Vehicles? I find idiot logic pathetically amusing.

  Arrest all of the tea partiers in fly over country that are causing all of the problems in Chicago. You are talking about a city run by democrats and populated by mostly life long democrats. There is no way that any thing wrong in that city is cause by its liberal government or its liberal people. It has to be the fault of the farmers living in Idaho.

  I agree completely!!!! I don’t understand why the people of Chicago and IL keep electing people who do not allow you to defend yourselves. Part of the blame rests with you, Elect some pro 2nd. amendment leaders and you may not be sitting ducks forever.

  Have a special offer on free cell phones to under 25 year old male “youths of color” that Taze the user every time time they use the phone, that way the gang-bangers flopping around on the sidewalk will be easier to spot, disarm and haul off to jail.
  
  The unarmed ones will come around in a few minutes and go about their business all that much safer for their minor inconvenience; some of them, the ones not a product of Chicago public schools, may even figure out not to use the phone again.

Here in Oklahoma come Nov. 1 st our new open carry law goes into effect. I will still carry my double barreled darringer in my boot like I do now. Chicago was already on my no fly list so no big deal. When self and wife travel, I research and only visit states that recognize our carry permits. Those idiots have some funny solutions. i gusess the rest of us will pay for the stupid heat sensors and sonic boom listeners. To defeat the heat sensors carry gun in a bag of ice and as far as sonic devices the police will hear all the folks that f_art.

There was that story of a off duty cop who kill a kids father after he hit the kid crossing the street. Well as no follow up the race of the cop was not white and the Union and Rahm would not let a black cop be charged with murder.

IMO the Gospel is the catalyst that can change the human heart. Guns are the deterent for criminals who opt out of all other paths. Therefore:

1. Encourage spiritual renewl and revival in the Windy City. Let the leaders invoke the name of Jesus and call openly for city-wide prayer and repentence. If Chicago lacks truth-speaking bold preachers, invite them in from other places stoke the flames of faith. Ninevah was spared from God’s wrath through repentence, should Chicago be any different?

2. Encourage all law-abiding citizens to own and carry firearms. Minimize laws restricting their use and carry.

3. Deport illegal aliens.

  I wish Texas would opt AZ type gun laws. Too many liberals in Austin though. I miss Arizona. I don’t think you need the Chicago thug crowd in AZ though. Just go the the area in Phoenix south of Van Buren and you’ll be in what was a combat zone less than a decade ago. We heard some one empty a pistol magazine from my house as we were loading the moving van.

  @ Bodybag. Wow…does that take me back. In 1973 I was friends with a lakoda Sioux named Betty, a waitress at Charlie’s Cafe in Mpls. One day she came over to my house and before I knew it I had a pow wow in my basement, Russel Means, Dennis Banks…I can’t remember all their names…it was just before Wounded Knee. I was a housewife with 2 small girls at that time in a nice neighborhood and I was pretty freaked out when they all showed up. Maybe it’s time I pay them a visit, sounds like they have a plan.

  the Lakota are a quiet, dignified people who just plain do not want any govt messing with them. they work from within to solve their problems and know all too well the destructive games of govt. lived in SD a number of years ago; have to stay here where I am due to family responsibilities but how I would love to move back there now, especially, cold winters and all. Yesterday, I came across a disturbing article about East St. Louis Mayor Alvin Parks abruptly creating and imposing a set of very severe restrictions on young citizens’ liberties, including a daytime curfew, amounting to nothing less than military-like law in East St. Louis.

He commented that kids are “shooting each other for no reason.” That doesn’t really make sense, unless you think about a possible larger, hidden agenda….

VIOLENT CRIME has prompted Mayor Parks to announce a curfew and mandatory parental supervision for youths, as well as his clothing ban.

So how many by guns, four? What a bogus stat. I agree with the guy that said abolish the gun laws then criminals will think twice about who they shoot. Of course Rahm and Russell Simmons will ignore that suggestion, it makes too much sense and doesn’t allow for government control.

  Lower the state’s outrageous business taxes, Abolish all but the most important state regulations which cost businesses millions, pass legislation to make Illinois a RIGHT TO WORK STATE, encourage plants and businesses to move to Chicago and allow the populace to have plenty of jobs using generous tax credits, have the Senators and House members from Illinois work for much lower national corporate income taxes and keep Federal agencies from harassing businesses nationwide.

Rahm Emanuel is the face of failure.

His corrupt chicago machine will not solve the grave problems of that city or region. They will posture and blame and fiddle with inconsequential fixes but they are incapable of true solution.

The fools that ultimately vote for them will also suffer for their allegiance to such corrupt leaders.
