Krauthammer to Fellow Panelists: I Can’t Believe You Guys Are Covering For Obama on This Libya Disaster

During a Friday broadcast of PBS’ “Inside Washington,” conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer accused members of the mainstream media of “covering” for the Obama administration over its handling of the Libya fiasco.

“I just want to respond to my liberal pals over here,” Krauthammer said, referring to NPR’s Nina Totenberg, PBS’ Mark Shields, and Politico’s Evan Thomas. “I can’t believe you guys are covering for the administration on the Susan Rice thing when they themselves said five days later it was obviously a terror attack.”

“Obviously, everybody could see it. So why for a week did the administration pretend that it was a demonstration?” he asked.

“Well, it wouldn’t be a very good plan if they were pretending and then saying something different later,” NPR’s Nina Totenberg responded.

“It’s a good plan because the longer you draw it out, the less that the media and the country will care about it. It’s an issue, you seize of the issue right away, and it’s worked. Who talks about it other than –” Krauthammer started to explain.

“Well, we’re talking about it,” PBS Host Gordon Peterson noted, apparently ignoring Krauthammer’s earlier point that the media and the White House spent days discussing an obscure YouTube video before mentioning terrorism.

“The third PBS segment of the show. Come on, give me a break,” the conservative commentator responded.

“Now you’re insulting your audience, the people who are still with us,” Peterson responded.

“No, these are the nine people in America who really care about stuff. What about all the others?” Krauthammer said.

Do you think Krauthammer is incorrect when he half-jokingly refers to the small number of people who “really care about stuff,” or do you think he’s on to something when he claims the administration purposely misled Americans because they knew the first version of events would be the thing most people remember?

  should HAUNT this administration,

  The American People are so smart,
  we do our research,
  we can take the facts & figure out the truth.
  
  Oblameo & his media can dismiss, avoid & hide the truth-
  that, in itself, gives credence to the real story.
  
  He & ObamaMedia have neglected their duty, we neglect them.
  America does NOT need them,
  they’ve allowed themselves to become dishonorable & irrelevant-

  Don’t think that the POTUS and his Administration has a plan to steal the election if it looks like its going South on them and then don’t think they don’t have a plan for the rioting that is going to happen when the masses find out that he did. If he gets re-elected he will force a major shift within the Supreme Court and then its all over because he can re-write or just trash the US Constitution…remember this is a man and a woman that hates America as it is and will stop at nothing to change it…..

  I believe Mr. Charles was referring to the 9 tuning in to PBS. I, myself, forget the station exist except on Saturday Nights when I watch some of the British sitcoms. :) Sorry PBS. Now that I know Mr. Charles is sometimes on PBS, I will tune in more often. Everything he said was the truth about the media and those so called journalist on the show with him.

Krauthammer is dead on and the media bias from the LSM at this time in our history is an insult to every true journalist, even the liberals like Cronkite, that ever lived. MSNBC’s recent descent into the Rather Hall of Shame with their atrocious audio edits of the Romney/Ryan appearance was the Jump the Shark for Comcast and they need to jettison this conglomeration of utter losers.   It is absolutely true that most people only remember the first reports they hear on pretty much any story. The MSM (and the administration) deliberately mislead the public and then when they’re called out on it, “My bad, we made a mistake.” Problem is, most people have already tuned out when mistakes (or deliberate lies) are exposed. does it really matter what they called it initially? We finally got some information on it days later – but we were lucky to get that because govt usually tries to keep the truth a secret.

It’s an election year – Obama didnt want Libya to hurt his poll numbers. But at least Obama didnt blame a different country or start another war

  Here is the worst part. Obama and Hillary stood in front of the caskets of Christpher Stevens, Tyrone Woods, Glen Doherty, and Sean Smith and promoted a video that had nothing to do with how they lost thier lives.
  
  I mean you stand there as the “potus” and say clueless group of “occupy Libya clowns” took down 2 navy seals without even a plan. Give me a break. The seals were lost in an “attack” from an organized group with a plan, with heavy arms, and with inside help. So yes to watch him in front of the returning caskets and talk about the video is so damn sad……

  The Obama administration looks naive and complicit in the violence when you hear the local, Egyptian media man advise that the newspapers in Cairo had heralded the 9/11 demonstration for WEEKS! Then there were the posters hung from street lights announcing the demonstration. Oh, there was the Arabic-speaking, American blogger in Cairo who was warning of violence as well.
  
  But, I guess nobody in the Cairo U.S. Embassy reads the papers or talks to taxicab drivers?

Krauthammer is one of the smartest guys in Washington, too bad he’s a jouranlist rather than a hard core, republican, politician. We desprately need people in power to speak the truth, the sad thing is we keep electing liar’s. I can’t believe there’s even a chance Obama could get re-elected, but it look like maybe better than a 50 – 50 chance he will. Even Ray Charles could see what’s going on and observe Obama’s agenda, hell he keeps telling the people how he’s going to screw them and cause the collapse of the country and half them can’t wait to vote him back in. of course Krauthammer is correct, the whole strategy was to slow roll, drag it out, make it so vague that citizens would automatically regurgitate the Obama administrations party line of,’ We don’t know what happened, it was that video protest,or we need more info’ or my personal favorite: The administration will form a committe which will meet in November after the election to determine the cause of the attack. where are we living, Cuba?

Men serving our country were brutally murdered in the Consolate and all this president cares about is how to spin this terrorist attack with minimum damage to his reelection bid. This is absolutely chilling. Obama has transformed this country all right, unfortunately into a country with a state sponsored press in praise of his every move. Remember the agenda of this administration and it will make sense. They need the dialogue about the video to be able to gain momentum for violating the 1st Amendment. They could never accomplish this in America. That is why the President is speaking to the World through the United Nations. The U.N. is the only mechanism they have to try and control speech. They are just using the video to get what they really want. Secondly, remember how hard they have been pushing gun control. They are now attempting to get it done through the U.N. This is a direct assault on the 2nd Amendment. The President and his administration have made a decision to bypass the American people……(in the President’s terms…..bypass Congress, but he means bypass you because that is the ONLY representation YOU have) and turn to the U.N. as the governing body of the world. HOW DO YOU LIKE THEM APPLES? Throw out a little food for the pigs and they will walk right into their captors cage…….and then wonder how they ended up in the cage. Who ya gonna call when your rights get violated under a global government? Try looking up an unknown name in your local phone directory. Good luck trying. Small government is the answer. Not larger global government.

I also believe that the media is covering for obamo. In fact, they have been covering for him for 3 1/2 years now. Just as obamo has hurt the United States, the media has been the protector of him. For some reason, and I truly do not know why, the media feels it imparative that a socialist agenda be pushed on our country.

Krauthhammer is correct. The media does not do their job unless their job is to promote progressivism.

Has anyone actually tried to purchase tickets to a concert through them! I did many years ago! It was going to cost me a zillion times more for a ticket through them. I laughed in their face! Real News stories are more than sound bites which is all local and cable provide. Most people do not know this story. In 2010 Ron Paul & Barney Frank Commissioned a paper on DEFENSE CUTS from the Massachusttes Institute..which is controlled by Democratic Socialist of America (Barney Frank has a FBI file that you would not believe) So now we have a Marxist Defense Policy which will gut our military until the villians can just walk right in and take our country.   I do believe there is sedition at all the highest levels in this government. We the people feel helpless to do anything about it, except vote. I, for one, resent the fact that our representatives in the Congress and the House are doing nothing to protect the people of America from this take over of our government. Unless all the people gather their arms and march on Washington, what the heck can we do but wait patiently to vote and pray to God the election is somewhat honest and actually happens.

Obama spews one lie after another and is never called on it. The polling is a joke and the only way he wins is through fraud. I do feel somewhat relieved when I talk to people while shopping at gun shows. They are for a very large majority, hard working, blue collar TAX PAYERS, who, I might add are HEAVILY ARMED and will not let these socialist progressives shove their ideas down our throat without a fight. The Administration knew that bit re: the video was a lie and still put that line out to the media.. They knew they had a msm that would push any story. And they kept repeating it …. until it ‘became the truth’. And that ‘truth’ trumped even what the Libyan government and other sources were saying about the death of our Ambassador and embassy staff. Our media – PBS, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC and their affiliates have become like the old Soviet’s TASS and Pravda – a complete tool of the Obama Administration.

I really care .. that is why I do not watch PBS or MSNBC or NBC … or the other MSM to get the truth . .because THEY CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH if it is BAD FOR OBAMA! They don’t cover his gaffes or Bidens .. or ANYTHING NEGATIVE . … they want to keep their small audience dumbed down.

  So sick and tired of the “Romney is awkward” canard. Let’s vote for the guy who is actively destroying the country…cuz the other guy is sometimes…awkward? And in this case, awkward because people are screaming his name over and over in adulation. Humility. It’s so damn…awkward. He’s also sincere. Accomplished. Honest. Entirely decent. But Oh. My. God.…he’s awkward!…so we’re going with the other guy instead — the insincere, unaccomplished, dishonest, indecent guy who wants to wreck everything. Because he’s cool. Never awkward. And he loves it when people scream his name over and over again. Loves it so much, lets its wash over him, basks in the adulation, pleads for more, nourishes himself with it like all hungry tyrants do…but never awkwardly.
