Up to 40,000 Protest Across Germany for Higher Taxes on the Wealthy

(TheBlaze/AP) — Thousands across Germany are protesting for more taxes on the wealthy, specifically for the introduction wealth and financial transaction taxes.  They are also looking for higher property taxes, according to EuroNews, and for the government to crack down on tax evasion.

Organizers said Saturday around 40,000 people took to the streets in 40 different cities to demand what they believe would be a more “equal” society.

Police estimates of the turnout in the country’s biggest cities were lower than the organizers’, however.

Frankfurt police said about 4,000 took to the streets, and Cologne reported 2,000.  Authorities in Berlin declined to provide an estimate, but organizers said about 5,000 protested in the country’s capital.

The organizers – including unions, civil society groups and the anti-globalization group Attac – demand a permanent tax on people’s wealth “to have rich households contribute significantly more.”

They said the tax they’re supporting would only affect the country’s wealthiest citizens, with almost 99 percent not paying additional taxes.

The rhetoric and symbolism seem to mirror American protests from the notorious group “Occupy Wall Street.”  They, too, are fond of Guy Fawkes masks and discussing the “99%.”

Union leader Frank Bsirske commented: “Where does the debt come from? It comes from the bank bailouts during the bank crisis, and a tax system that favors the wealthy…”

Germany has been one of the countries keeping Europe afloat as country after country is rocked by high unemployment, high taxes, and low growth.

And amazingly, the information is coming mostly from outside America, from people who have don’t have a media to shut them down. Trevor Loudon said, “Your military has saved you before and will save you again.” It will take the hand of G-d to save this country by using our military to our good. These traitors will need to removed.

“In America the wealthy top 10% pay 70% of all taxes, how does that favor the wealthy?”

One: not 70% of ALL taxes, 70% of federal income taxes. Highly regressive taxes such as sales taxes and payroll taxes continue to exist. Two: they also control over 85% of the wealth in the country, and make tremendous amounts of money off of capital gains (whose tax rate is something like 15%).

So yeah, the tax system continues to favor the wealthy.

There are at LEAST 3 important public policy interests served by progressive taxation:
      (1) Stimulating aggregate demand by moving wealth from those with a relatively lower marginal propensity to spend (wealthier parties), to those with an relatively higher marginal propensity to spend (whether government or comparatively less wealthy individuals).
      (2) Promoting human welfare imperiled by lack of economic resources (i.e. addressing the harmful consequences attendant with poverty).
      (3) Paying the costs of government policies (whether regulatory, distributive, or redistributive) without compromising the two aforementioned interests.

      Additionally,
“Rich people also purchase goods and services (far more than the other classes).”
Not true–as a CLASS rich people spend less, even though INDIVIDUALLY they spend more. This is because for every rich person there are thousands, if not millions, of poorer people, who spend a much higher proportion of their respective income.
“Excuse me if not everybody should be making the same amount of money.”
That’s not the point–the point is achieving the net maximal utility distribution of wealth. Moreover, simply because wealth is distributed in a particular way by an arbitrary system (I hate to burst your bubble, but God isn’t the one who set up our socioeconomic system) doesn’t mean, ipso facto, that that distribution is perfectly meritocratic.

So the questions that need to be asked:

How long until the EU collapse comes?
How long until a European war begins?
What will the map look like afterwards?

Will any of us here in the states be able to stave off, in part or full, the collapse of our own nation as well; and then how long until another global war commences?

But then, every movement for positive substantive change in history that has challenged the status quo has been labelled an “enemy of the state”–inasmuch as the status quo order of business of the state is the PROBLEM, that is not so bad a thing to be. From abolitionists, to de-segregationists, to civil rights activists, on and on and on–all were once called “radicals” and “enemies of peace and the public good” in their time. There’s more than one view of socialism–I’ve made mine pretty explicit, and it’s quite different than what’s been tried before; which had less to do with “socialism versus capitalism” and more to do with “command economies versus market economies”. I have no problem with the market as a price-setting mechanism–what I DO have a problem with is individuals who make money, not for the value of their labor input to the economy, but for their privilege of absentee titular ownership, or to be EVEN MORE specific, of the DIVISION between the two; if one were tied to the other, thus eliminating the “absentee” portion (i.e. if one’s title to the dividends of capital good ownership was directly correlated to the value added by one’s contribution to the consumer goods produced therewith) then there would not be the ‘free rider’ problem attendant with a system of private ownership of the means of production DIVORCED from their use.

Soros is a nightmare come to life; to this day there are countless people I show the videos of HIM and his own admissions and plans, the supporting evidence and so much more, and still they deny he could be doing all of this.

That is among the biggest problems in dealing with Soros; his actions are bigger than life, on a scale only a hollywood villain could achieve (save that Soros is all too real), and thus most people do not wan to see.

Oh wouldn’t that be just WONDERFUL–then we could all see what a useless leech they are contributing nothing to the product of the economy and extracting rents from their absentee titular ownership of the means of production (i.e. capital goods). Simply owning things “by law” (a law made by and for themselves–SURPRISE, they’re “successful” at the game they’ve created, WHAT?! ) and charging rent for their usage is a valuable service…how exactly?

I would LOVE to see all the capitalists get fed up and up and leave–then, all the people who are paid to do actual productive LABOR for the economy, could run the firms without having to pay tribute to this redundant blood-sucking aristocracy. Unless the wealthy also have some kind of technology allowing them to hide, or get away from the grasping hands of the masses then it won’t work.

Once the engine begins to falter, and the world starts falling apart, the orc horde will look for someone to blame. The fortresses of the wealthy will burn just like everything else.

The New World Order will rise from the ashes of this apocolypse. It will not make the mistakes of the old world, like celebrating success, or elevating virtues such as truth, courage, and honor. These are things of the old greedy, individualistic world. The New World will not worship invisible gods. Instead it will adore tangible things, such as the beautiful charismatic leader to come. A man who will usher in this glorious new age, and bring peace, harmony and equality to his children.

There will of course be a few “bumps in the road”, just a few eggs that must be broken for this wonderful one world omelet.

Some stubborn men and women consumed with hate for the new world, and worshipping some archaic god of the cross will have to be “re-educated”, and if not…well not everyone is enlightened enough, or suitable for the glorious utopia to come.

THE THIRD ARCHON I think Atlas Shrugged would be more prophesy than fantasy. Also, Rand advocated a lasse faire capitalist economy……..an economy in which laborers could start their own enterprises rather than take over existing enterprises by force.

Hey, Ranger…Archon is only purpose is to stir the pot. The book your referencing has a lot of interesting stuff that’s happening before our eyes. There is a veil over the eyes/minds of many, purhaps it’s by design.

      @ranger,

nailed it dead on 100%. Those who brought it about will no longer be useful. The new world doesn’t need malcontents and agitators. They will be lined up and shot. The rest of the sheep herd will be culled for the benefit of the collective.

I hope I live to see that battlefield and that my children won’t have to. I’d hope to see you in a foxhole somewhere down the road Ranger.

If it’s truly prophecy and not mere fantasy, then we should be so lucky, for the socialist revolution shall be easier than any dreamed of if its opponents strategy shall consist of throwing down their arms before fighting has even commenced.

And it is hardly “taking over by force” if the existing means of production are abandoned by their absentee titular owners.

You and your socialist sheep have fallen for the Marxist dogma..

Here is reality… Marx got it all wrong likely intentionally, the wealthy are NOT a single group. He created a straw man for the masses to hate. The wealthy “capitalists” are made up of two groups, those that take risks and create wealth and those that don’t take risks and take wealth. The parasites vs the producers. It is the parasitic class that is pushing this division bas they benefit from the power and growth of the State. The workers and the free market capitalists are the wealth producers, the parasites take wealth from ALL the producers.. The parasites benefit from their relationship to the State.
It is these parasites or Fascists aka crony capitalists or crony socialists that are encouraging and pushing Socialism or Statism. These global Occupy type of movements are “useful idiots” who are enabling these parasites to gain control and take more from the wealth producers. The real war is between the wealth producers and the wealth takers, not the worker and capitalist.

Marx was the Pravda or MSNBC of his time, a propagandist for the elite parasitic class who benefit from Socialism as they control the State.

You ideological collectivists have been manipulated to promote your own enslavement. The State has no virtue, it is corrupt, controlled by elite parasites that will never give you your utopia, It will extort the production of all, the workers and the wealthy prod

LOL–so, you accuse Marx of a sweeping generalization, and then IMMEDIATELY do the same thing yourself in your “good capitalist”/”bad capitalist” distinction. Here’s the point Marx makes that you completely miss though–the “goodness”, or lack thereof, of the particular capitalists has nothing to do the operation of the system of capitalism and the consequences thereof. Capital-ISTS can have all the best intentions in the world–it makes no DIFFERENCE to what capital-ISM (an economic system in which the means of production, a.k.a. capital goods, are private owned and rent extraction therefrom is not only allowed, but a primary or sole means of income for a class of individuals, a.k.a. the capital-ISTS) is and does. It is this particular socioeconomic setup of ownership of the means of economic production, which is indeed accurate of the way our economy functions, and the attendant and inevitable CONSEQUENCES of a system of private ownership so structured, that is the PROBLEM that socialists, and arguably Marx (although he is far less explicitly normative in his writings than conservatives believe, most have them having never bothered to READ that which they impute to Marx and criticize), take issue with. That, and that ALONE, nothing more-or-less, is “capitalism” as a socioeconomic system, and it is not the ONLY socioeconomic system that has ever existed, nor the only one POSSIBLE–socialists merely dare point out the consequent problems of it.

No, but it does need workers and engineers and farmers and teachers, not absentee capitalist landlords. Think long and hard about who is the parasite here.

      @ALIEN (cont.)
Additionally, you conflate “free markets” (a meaningless term as there is no Platonic ideal of the “perfectly free” market existing in some metaphysical universe, markets having ALWAYS been, and always will be, defined, shaped, and dependent for their existence, upon the sociopolitical context in which they exist–brought into existence, and that continued existence made possible, by the legal regulatory framework, NECESSARY for the creation and maintenance of abstract things like “contracts” or “property rights”, in the FIRST place) with “capitalism”. As I explained above, they are two entirely distinct concepts. A “market” economy is merely one in which the price-setting function is accomplished by “markets” (i.e. an abstract concept referring to a particular legal and social framework in which economic decisions by economic actors are made), as opposed to a command economy (where these decisions are made by a centralized authority), or an informal barter economy (in which there IS no legal framework, merely a social one, in which economic agents make their exchanges–essentially economic anarchy). Although these are referred to for pedagogy’s sake as separate concepts, it might be more accurate to view them as a spectrum of potential economic price-setting mechanisms with “command” on one end, “barter” on the other, and “market” in between, with no hard distinction between them.

      @ALIEN (Cont.)
The question CAPITALISM conceptually answers, “who owns the means of economic, i.e. wealth, production?” is a distinct question than that which the MARKETS concept answers, i.e. “how is the price of commodities (here I define as “anything which may be bought and sold in the economy in question) to be determined?”

What capitalism consists of is the system of private ownership (hence “titular”), divorced of labor/use (hence “absentee”) of the means of economic production (a.k.a. capital goods in economic theory), i.e. the means of wealth generation/production. Nothing more, nothing less.

You are well versed in the propaganda, but you don’t get it… I am not accusing of Marx of generalizations, I am accusing him of deception. Marx got it backwards, IMO intentionally, he predicted a breakdown of Capitalism through a class struggle and all the means of production would become publicly owned and used for the public good, A utopian paradise, sounds wonderful..
This is based on a flaw, a false premise that makes his conclusion 180 degrees wrong.

He was right… history is made up of class struggles.. but

He got the definition of classes wrong.. He defined it Labour v Capital which has been distilled to rich v poor… This “intentionally” created a straw man,, the rich, and this error has caused the deaths of 100+ million people. A poor record for a process that promised a utopia and elimination of class struggle. A divide and conquer scheme..

It is not a struggle between the rich and poor but historically it is between debtors and savers/producers.

Marx got is backwards, the debtors exploit the savers not rich v poor. It is a grand con that permeates all collectivist thought including the Occupy crowd. they are being used to empower the debtors and further exploit the savers. They are, in fact, working against their own best interest.

The debtors, those that benefit form the issuance and control of debt, a transfer of wealth from the savers to debtors. Debt is enslavement and exploitation by the parasitic class enabled by the

You’re an idiot. “Banksters” as you call them are just people and doing the same thing that the everybody else does. They look for any advantage and take it. Consider all “the poor” that choose not to work, or chose not to get an education or skill. Consider all the kids that dropped out of school for drugs, gangs, had kids in their teens, etc. THESE people are bleeding the rest of us dry while whining about those that actually DID get and education or develop a skill.

You hate bankers because you can’t steal as much as they can. So you get your buddies in the Socialist Demoncratic party to use the coercive power of the govt to steal for you. Remember this when the UN comes knocking for hundreds of billions to help the truly poor around the world. Of course, you’ll whine about that too because it doesn’t provide YOU with an advantage.

      And I DO doubt you.

I think its over. I think Soros is Satan, Obama is his little helper and his whole goal is to ruin mankind, probably because he’s always been an IMPOTENT little P. (emphasis on little)

We’ll try to boost up AMERICA by kicking that POS out of the WH and replacing with a decent man, Capitalism will survive again eventually…if SOROS isn’t SATAN then he will die…I mean he’s 87? …or something like that… the world will realize that the bloody Muslim Counterfeit religion will be shoved back in the hole it comes out of every 600 or so years …. we’ll have learned our lesson about Progressive – liberalism. We’ll have put GOD back in schools, back in our lives / cleaned up the text books/kicked the commies out of our classrooms and maybe we’ll have a chance to show the world that people don’t produce without incentive. Mainly: THERE IS NO SUCH THING as COLLECTIVE SALVATION…but this process that goes on throughout History appears to be grinding to a halt. Just take care of your families; Your own Faith relationship with GOD and we’ll all do the best we can. IT’S totally up to GOD, isn’t it? I’m going to watch football.

      “I think its over.”

For you, yeah, I’d agree. Good luck ‘kicking that POS out of the WH’ when it appears that center-left Obama will win a second term with relative ease. The majority of Americans don’t want what Romney’s peddling. George Soros will die, of course, but you’re all vastly overestimating the man’s importance to the Democratic Party, much less the International Left.

With a ever-trending decline in faith (something even The Blaze is forced to admit) I find it pretty unlikely that you’ll be able to ‘put GOD back in schools.’ I don’t know if you’ve seen the stories on this site, but you can’t really put God much of anywhere public without an immediate shutdown. You think a GOP President in 2016 – assuming one wins – is going to be able to reverse that? With 20% of the American population non-believing? I doubt it. They’re not even going to run on social issues, because the Culture Wars are about over and on every front – gay rights, feminism, secularism – the Left has experienced glorious victory time and again.

By the way, I like the fatalist notion that ‘IT’S totally up to GOD, isn’t it?’ Keep thinking that. Putting all of your reliance on a deity that hasn’t openly intervened in this world in millennia makes Socialism’s final triumph that much easier.
