Fed Up: Top Gen. Allen ‘Mad as Hell’ About ‘Insider’ Attacks in Afghanistan

Gen. John Allen Mad as Hell About Insider Green on Blue Attacks in Afghanistan | 60 Minutes

With the death toll in Afghanistan reaching 2,000 on Sunday, many are taking a closer look at the startling number of “insider” attacks that have occurred over the past year.

President Obama’s plan for the majority of U.S. troops to withdraw from Afghanistan by 2014 calls for training Afghan security forces in how to defend their own country, however, a record number of those troops are instead turning their weapons on Americans.

According to Reuters, a stunning 1-in-5 combat-related deaths in Afghanistan by NATO-led forces in 2012 has been an insider “green on blue” attack, comprising roughly 16% of American casualties.

“I’m mad as hell about them, to be honest with you,” Gen. John Allen — the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan — said on “60 Minutes” Sunday. “We’re going to get after this.Β  It reverberates everywhere, across the United States.Β  You know, we’re willing to sacrifice a lot for this campaign.Β  But we’re not willing to be murdered for it.”

Here is video of the interview:

Allen reiterated that the “vast majority” of Afghans are “with us” in the fight, saying there are a number of Afghans who have even died protecting American troops, but that the attacks definitely represent a weak spot in our defenses.

“The enemy recognizes this is a vulnerability,” Allen explained. “You know, in Iraq, the signature weapon system that we hadn’t seen before was the IED.Β  We had to adjust to that.Β  Here, I think the signature attack that we’re beginning to see is going to be the insider attack.”

Afghan President Hamid Karzai blames terrorists, partially foreign fighters, for the attacks.

He explained: “They’re still there, and they have the ability continue ten years on to come and hurt us– to kill your troops, to kill our troops, to kill our civilians.Β  We must question, then, how come they’ve returned?”

“60 Minutes” cameramen spoke with a number of the fighters, who said they support al-Qaeda.Β  One of the leaders said the Taliban are responsible for the attacks, and that al-Qaeda fighters are flooding in to help.

“There are many groups that have [al-Qaeda fighters]; we can’t do this without them…They are masters of everything, for example making IEDS, something we don’t know how to do.Β  But they are teaching us.Β  They are also master engineers, and good with all weapons…” he explained.

Last week, Obama adviser Michele Flournoy said the attacks are a “very occasional” problem that represent the Taliban’s increasing “desperation.”

“It’s very tragic and it’s very upsetting when these things happen,” she remarked, “but they are a tiny, tiny, tiny fraction of a percentage of the overall interactions that are happening.”

General Allen is mad as hell while General Dempsey blames the murder of our troops on the troops themselves. Both Allen and Dempsey should be fired.

How many had to die before Gen. Allen noticed? It is about time we took this war seriously and started fighting. Throw the dammed so called “Rules of Engagement” out or get out now. We are fighting a war with one hand tied behind our backs.

“Outlaw Islam, close the mosques, deport the muslims. Better to fight them over there than here at home.”
Outlawing Islam would probably be impossible and quite non PC. However, if we take a page form the FFRF’s playbook, get a few 10′s of thousands to declair that the “religion of peace” offends us(mainly the murder of non-muslims), maybe we could remove it from the U.S. to someplace that wouldn’t offend us, say the dark side of the moon. It gotta work, considering that one athiest student and parent can have the 10 commandments removed from a middle school because they are offended by it.

that place is upside down and backwards. it always has been and always will be. the US troops can stay for 100 more years and the day they leave, the tribal unrest will come back. leave now and stop wasting american lives. you can’t force people out of the stone ages. they have to want to progress. and if they don’t want to, stop wasting time, money, and lives. those people have been fighting each other for hundreds of years and will continue to do so long after the US leaves. this is just a pause to fight a different enemy for a change except for one another. staying there is helping no one at all.

    This isn’t surprising, or complicated.

The same thing occured in Vietnam in the last 6 months we were there. When it became known that we were gonna be pulling out, people over there, had to make a decision.

Continue to support the Americans who were leaving, or change sides and support the communists who would soon own the country lock, stock, and barrel?

Communists with long memories and who were awfully fond of making people disappear.

It’s a pretty easy choice, especially if you are in the American created police, or military. Show some loyalty now while the Americans are still here by killing a few Americans and you’ll get a pass for yourself (if you survive), and for your family.

But if you’re still a loyal soldier or policeman to the American created government when the American’s leave? Pfft…you and your family are done!

If you were an Afghani, what would you do?

Yesterdays attack is being called a Green on Blue but in fact it was an Ambush. After killing the SFC and Contractor at the check point, the 17 man ANA unit opened fire on the American convoy! This was not a lone Taliban! The last Green on Blue Attack which halted partnering was purportrated on our soldiers while they were asleep!

This tiny fraction of incidents is not acceptable.

We are there to help these people, they pretend to go along, gain trust, get positions to implement the plan then turn and kill our troops in cold blood. This is not War time killing, this is outright murder. If our troops were going out murdering the Afghanis then they would be held to account and go to prison. Face it! This operation in Afghanistan was a nobel attempt which creeped into nation building. We need to count our successes there and gather up our troops and material. Its not a losing proposition, we’ll never shut down the Taliban anyways because they always have another generation coming up ready to step up and kill their own and us. We learned this lesson a long time ago in Nam and they said never again but here we are AGAIN doing the same ole dance with a people who will not fight for their own freedoms as we sacrifice our own for them…..no US soldier should be asked to do such a thing.

We are not fighting a war! Since when is it the mission of our ground troops to train another countries military? Our ground troops are trained to fight the enemy, not arm them! Our troops are FORBIDDEN to use ANY OFFENSIVE TACTICS! What are they there for? IED magnets? We cannot expect our troops to protect the civilians while letting the enemy roam freely! What kind of policy is that? It is just a cluster **** !

No one in Washington reads history. The Brits owned Afghanistan and Pakistan for 150 years and couldn’t tamp down the clans. The Russians tried for 8 years to conquer the Afghans and lowst more troops than we have, and the loss was one of the major causes of their empire falling apart. We should never have sent conventional forces there. We should never have engaged in “nation-building” there. It is time to admit the mistake, cut our losses and bring our men and women home.

Obama’s removing the ban on gays serving was suppose to win the war and prevent insider ally killings. Forcing military service members to pay more for health care is Obama’s Plan B to win the war.

Don’t believe all the hype from these Generals. Most them have been promoted by Obama for their political views and loyal obedience. The job of a General is 100% politician. Obama has been purging the officer ranks for four long years. We now have lesbian Generals and homosexual commanders in charge of political correctness and revenge against enlisted and subordinates.

Definitely some truth to what you say. Having been a career minded person myself, you get to a place in your service lets say after your second enlistment and by then your really beginning to see the change since your joined 5-6 years prior, you ask yourself as you see the trends in policy and who implements it and you say to self, “Do I really want to put up with this and sign up again” Usually the answer is no!

General Allen is “As mad as Hell” zbout insider attacks. Well in order to do anything about it he must:

    1) Get permission from Obozo

    2) ask permissionj from the Afghan government.

As you can bet, neither will be forthcoming. We need to get out of that crazyhouse before we lose any more of our nations finest. Leave this traitor Karzai (A-stans President) to Al Queida and the Taliban. He has stabbed coalition forces in the back too many times. Just like Viet Nam, you must call back to HQ and have them ask permission of the government in order to fire on militants or their convoys. Why do we get involved in such lunacy?

We should be more concerned about deporting the mind-numbingly vast muslim army that has already been invited onto American soil by treasonous elected, and unelected, officials for the express purpose of engaging in violent jihad on American citizens.

Outlaw Islam, close the mosques, deport the muslims. Better to fight them over there than here at home.

And for every single jihad attack on an American, we respond with violence so amazingly brutal that the muslims will think twice before jihading for their Allah deity anywhere near anything that might even be remotely connected with something in which America might have an interest.
