Appearing on Fox News Channel with Megyn Kelly, former Democratic pollster Patrick Caddell continued his harsh tirade against the mainstream media for being derelict in its duty to serve as a watchdog for the American people and refusing to cover stories that may hurt President Obama’s re-election chances.

“We’ve never had a situation where the press has purposefully decided to pick up a narrative from the White House to not tell people things that happened in order to support their overwhelming candidate for president, Barack Obama,” he said.

Caddell also blasted President Obama for campaigning in Las Vegas after U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed in a terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, saying even former President Jimmy Carter, who he worked under, refused to campaign during national security threats during the 1980 election, most notably the Iranian hostage crisis.

“This isn’t about partisanship, this is about danger,” he added. “The reason the First Amendment exists without any checks and balances on the media is because they are supposed to protect the people, that is the implicit bargain.”

Instead, Caddell compared the U.S. media to “Pravda,” a state-controlled newspaper that was owned by the Soviet Union. He noted that outlets like the New York Times refused to seriously discuss the implications after the terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya and then ignored the fact that 20 more U.S. embassies were under assault during the aftermath.

“Why isn’t the press saying anything?” he asked. “Because if they did it would ruin the narrative they have.”

In recent remarks at a Accuracy in Media (AIM) conference, Caddell said: “I think we’re at the most dangerous time in our political history in terms of the balance of power in the role that the media plays in whether or not we maintain a free democracy.”

He also said the media has become an “enemy of the American people,” arrogantly deciding what information Americans have a right to know.

      TRUTH4SURENUFF, I’ve been voting since Nixon’s third campaign, (remember 1960) and the lies by the press go back well beyond even then. With the exception of Reagan’s second campaign, the press has told us that the Democrat has always held a lead. Dramatic leads for the most part. Although some of the polls with Reagan showed that he had a minor lead at times he carried 49 states. In his campaign with Carter, the press told us that Carter had a 30 point lead, and Reagan won with a 51% to Carter’s 41%. Sometimes the Republican wins, and sometimes Dem-wit wins, but the press and 99% of the polls always tell us that the Dem-wit has the lead if not a major lead. I learned very long ago to never put any trust in the polls, and especially the agenda run propaganda unit that is always for the Dems.

      MSM has been drinking the democratic kool-aid for 40 years, and just keeps getting worse. I remember a big front page story on Thomas Jeffersons love affiars when Clinton was up for re-election in 96. Absolutely pathetic.
      The big and little major newspapers are all in the tank for democrats from the New York Times down to my local rag, the Des Moines Register. Their stories are nothing but tragedies, long-lost twins reunited, sports, and how all conservatives are evil.
      Its no wonder 47% of the country supports Obama. Without the MSM, he’d probably be closer to 15.

    It’s time to stop asking “WHY???,” and start asking =WHO= is paying them off and =WHERE= is the $$$$ coming from? We all know that people SELL THEIR SOULS FOR MONEY. The MEDIA are selling America down the river. WHO IS PAYING THEM?

Infringing on the people’s freedom by working for the government, when they’re supposed to watch the people’s back on the issues that affect them. This is why they’ll all fall without grace.

    The comparison Caddell made in the line above should be obvious. Pat Caddell is arguably
    the only DEM left with any honor or integrity, but even he wont call Barry out as a Communist.

    That is exactly what he is. That is what the Demoncrap party is. Pat Caddell’s DEM party
    is no more and to a large degree that is why he’s doing this.

    God Bless Pat Caddell. He was one of the few, if not the only, Democrat in media to separate himself from the insane progressive/socialist groupthink that emerged during the Clinton years and has intensified ever since. He is the only Democrat (in the media) I know of that has any integrity left. Predictably, he has been ostracized by the rest of his party, no longer allowed on MSNBC and the like, where he might upset the progressive message they’re trying to indoctrinate the public with. He is unafraid to question their insanity! Though I disagree with him on almost all ‘political’ issues, his courage in this regard truly makes him a HERO in my eyes. Perhaps Kirsten Powers is finding herself coming to the same conclusions that Pat did many years ago. I hope she continues down that common-sense road. God Bless these two Americans for courageously standing up to the rest of their Democratic Party demagogues in the media, providing the only patriotic example left in media for “regular” Democrats to follow. They have not yet surrendered their minds.
    Thank God the Republican party hasn’t been hijacked to the same extent (yet!) as the Democratic party. Go Tea Party and Libertarians! Bring back common sense and critical thinking!

At the risk of appearing to lack all humility, let me say that I hope there are more Americans out there willing to raise our dialogue to a level that brings clarity to the issues and encourages our working together where we can, instead of tearing each other apart where we cannot. Our founding fathers were truly great examples when it came to finding beneficial compromise vs. remaining steadfastly stubborn on principle. I especially admire Benjamin Franklin in this regard. I encourage everyone to read his autobiograpy!

    The media was given constitutional protection because their job was to report on abuses by both sides regardless of the writer’s personal opinions. Now…..almost all the mainstream media is a propaganda wing of the democrat party. They think they can get away with it but soon it will catch up with them. Almost every thinking American hates them. Boycott all liberal news medias, newspapers, and the fools that advertise on them. We can destroy them…and will.

    The facts are so twisted the media can not even begin to fit the truth into media soundbites of time.
    The full story of each of the crimes this administration has/is committing take at least a full hour to explain to an educated person. It’s usually so incredible, convoluted, and extraordinarily unbelievable to fully understand such evil taking place by our own government.       You got that right .. when Romney came here a couple of weeks ago the local media reported it as “hundreds attended” … I was there — it was outside, it was packed and it was thousands.

      When Biden came last week they had his crowd at 2,100 .. now how do you estimate a crowd down to the 100′s …. I suspect (and from some photo’s I saw) his was a few hundred. All the liberal MSM sucks
