President Obama arrived in Las Vegas Sunday for three days of last-minute debate prep against his Republican rival Mitt Romney, choosing to stay at the luxurious Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort in Henderson for the job, ABC News reports.
A little over two years after he told Americans not to go to Vegas during tough economic times and to “tighten” their belts instead, the White House pool report notes the president has jetted off to the resort that’s “a strange mix of desert sand pits, green lawns, palm trees and new homes.”
“We passed a replica of the Ponte Vecchio and some luxurious lakeside estates, also unfinished lots and a browning golf course. The president’s hotel has a Middle Eastern theme and a view of the lake from the lobby,” the description continues, according to Business Insider.
The nightly rate for the most expensive room at this time is $860.88 after taxes and fees, though it may have been less expensive when the reservations were booked. It has not been reported how many rooms the Obama campaign reserved, but the least expensive room at this time is $300.88 per night after taxes and fees.

Actually, that White House Pool report is inaccurate: Obama’s new hotel doesn’t have a Middle Eastern theme, but rather a North African Muslim theme, with an emphasis on Morocco. We stayed at the Luxor in a very nice suite that cost $800/night (we had a very well established small manufacturing business back then and we felt we could afford the two nights we stayed). Compaired to the pictures of Mr. Obama’s Henderson, NV digs, the Luxor was a Motel 6. Now that we’ve had to close our business due to the economic situation this country is in, we couldn’t afford the cheapest room at Motel 6 in Pella, Iowa! Yep, Mr. Obama sure is in touch with us common folk.

Yet, he always seem to take himself and entourage to the fanciest, most expensive places for work that can be done in the home office that the citizens have provided. He doesn’t even want to greet dignitaries from other countries there…at least lately. I feel he is ashamed of what our citizens loaned to him. He deserves better I guess.
