Lib Pastor Jim Wallis Accuses Conservative of ‘Hatred’ & Begs Her to ‘Stop Talking’ During On-Air Clash Over Anti-Jihad Subway Ad

The ongoing debate surrounding conservative blogger Pamela Geller’s anti-Jihad New York City subway ads has not yet simmered.
While The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) initially attempted to ban the ads, a judge ruled in Geller’s favor, leading to a decision to post them at numerous subway stops last month. But as TheBlaze reported on Friday, the transit group later decided to revise its advertising standards as a result of the incident, claiming that it now reserves the right to ban ads that “would incite or provoke violence.”
On Sunday, Geller went on WABC-TV’s “Up Close With Diana Williams” to discuss the ongoing furor surrounding the ads. Her on-air opponent for the segment was none other than progressive Pastor Jim Wallis, whom TheBlaze has covered extensively in the past. Wallis stands firmly opposed to the blogger’s ad campaign — a sentiment he made known in their dialogue on the program.
The segment opened with Geller defending the ads and claiming that, contrary to critique, they are anything but anti-Islam. She took the time to differentiate between radical and mainstream Islam, stating that the ads take aim at the former cohort.

“This is not against Muslims,” she explained of the ad, which reads, “In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man.” “I don’t believe that all Muslims sanction jihad.”
Geller also defended moderate and secular Muslims who she contended have experienced more death and destruction in Islamic nations than anyone else.
On the free-speech front, Geller proclaimed that it is paramount to protect free expression and she defended her ad and its placement on those grounds. After she made her statements about the matter, Wallis was asked to provide his analysis, during which he heavily criticized Geller over her comments.
“This conversation’s very sad,” he opened. “In situations of conflict like we’re in now — words have consequences. So, words of anger and hatred lead to violence.”
This theme of “hatred” was advanced throughout Wallis’ statements on the matter, as he dismissed Geller’s words as incendiary and claimed that her efforts were making the situation surrounding radical Islam much worse. Contrary to Geller’s approach, Wallis encouraged Christians and others to “remind people of their religious obligations to each other.”
“This hate language brings up what is worst in people,” the progressive faith leader continued. ”Fundamentalism is a problem in all of our religious traditions. You don’t defeat fundamentalism with hatred.”

To combat Geller’s message, Wallis is raising money through his group, Sojourners, to put up a NYC subway billboard of his own. It will read, “Love your Muslim neighbors.”
Perhaps the most uncomfortable portion of the WABC-TV dialogue was when Wallis implored Geller “to stop talking” and said that he was speaking on behalf of “Christians all over the world.”
“I want to say to Miss Geller that Christians all over the world are going to pay for this kind of hateful language,” Wallis said. “And I speak on their behalf, begging you to stop talking.”
And he wasn’t done there.
“Please stop talking, because so many people are going to suffer from this kind of hate language,” Wallis continued. “If you want to save lives, Miss Geller, please stop talking this way.”
Geller challenged Wallis’ contentions and responded by calling out his request that she “stop talking.”

Jim Wallis is a power broker that uses a facade of Christianity as a tool to silence and shame his opponents. Most of them being Christians as well.
He is a purveyor of guilt and serves up huge helpings by attacking Christians who don’t know better, and don’t see how he twists God’s Word to serve his socialistic ends.

Posted on October 1, 2012 at 3:33pmEvangelicalism, a bastardization of Christianity, is a religious franchise that anyone can buy into and twist into their own cult. This is what Joel Osteen,Rick Warren, Billy Graham, Timothy Keller, Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Wallis, and many others have done. Within the cult of Evangelicalism are many accounts on infighting between the pastors and their followers. Evangelicalism is truly for the sheep who will become quickly scattered when, 20 years from now, Evangelicalism will be dead. It’s an old franchise that has been guided by Satan to counterfeit Christianity.

Posted on October 1, 2012 at 6:16pm@MAX,
Evangelicalism, as I see it, appears to be a “feel good” money-making franchise that capitalizes off of a basic set of beliefs: a belief in Christ, a belief in the Bible, a belief in conversion, and [the money making part] telling people about your beliefs aka activism. Anyone can buy into this franchise and then market their particular brand of evangelicalism (which is why evangelicalism is popular on the left and right – even evangelize off issues such as global warming). Then you advertise why your brand is better, why people should join (and pay) you, and why people should also push your brand onto their friends. It’s nothing more than a “feel good” version of Christianity where you pay for services you want [akin to prostitution] aka “the message” and receive a false feeling that you are somehow doing good things. It’s a complete scam where thousands of individual brands of evangelical Christians are competing for YOUR money.

Posted on October 1, 2012 at 7:07pmSleezevil….OK…..I see your point, but I have always called that televangelism…..it needs the mass media to “profit’. Evangelism is the practice of taking the gospel to the ‘unsaved’ and as such is a holy Sacrament of sorts.
I personally think that most evangelical churches fall more on your side of the definition these days. Sad but true. My pastor never asks for money, says that God doesn’t send beggars…and teaches verse by verse, chapter by chapter, in more countries, and on more stations than ANY other preacher. He doesn’t even pass the basket at Sunday services.
I am sure that you are aware of the “great apostasy”. The falling away of the church in the end times This has got to take place before the coming of the Lord. So, you see, it is ALL good news….even when it looks so bad. Cheer up, let God do the judging….I’m glad that’s not my JOB.

Please note that I did not say I rejected religion, but that I rejected ORGANIZED religion.
Every religious organization (or denomination, if you will) I have examined is shaped by the beliefs or opinions of its leaders — and thus its tenets are subject to change. Who are they to tell me what’s in the mind of God? They may have their opinions on the subject, but who is correct — the Shinto priest, the Buddhist priest, the Imam, the Catholic Pope, the Baptist bishop, the televangelist, the man shouting into a bullhorn on the street corner, etc.? I find comfort in my own religious belief, while aware that no mortal man KNOWS the unknowable.

Why would ads against actions that are savage be hate-speech. She is not talking about people but the acts that people do. The ads are basically asking people to be civilized. Jesus preached against sin. If you do not believe this maybe you do need to go back and read his words. Jesus never taught for his followers to enslave, rape or kill those who do not believe like we do.
Maybe you dont like the fact that she used Isreal in her ad. I am not a Jew by blood. Jesus’ mother was a jew and he was born into that nation and the jews are God’s chosen people of old. Again you can refer back to God’s word if you need references

Being firstly and foremostly , cowards, They got themselves a muslim aficionado, and made him president. Hoping he would try to “save” them from death.
As it turns out,the man they installed as president is a fool, on multiple levels, and inflamed every facet of American society, as well as every international sore spot. and has overseen economic collapse. Say what you will, these ARE fundamental changes….
These people have got to be on there last nerve. On the verge of madness for much of every day.
This is just how it is in America-2012……For those without “Gospel ARMOUR”

Posted on October 1, 2012 at 2:20pmENCINOM, It’s been a while since I saw you post. But of course your first sentence is calling people a hateful name and trying to degrade a person. I do believe calling a person a ********* is an insult since teabagging usually after you goat a person(don’t ask ignorance is bliss on this subject). So tell me if she is selling ignorance does that mean that there is no separation between mainstream Muslims and radical militant Muslims? So since your calling her a liar EVERY Muslim is a violent militant. So if I put up an ad saying
“In society there are law abiding people and criminals.
Support law abiding people.
Support Law Enforcement.
Stop Crime.”
I’m being hateful and selling Ignorance to a group of people who are full of hate and ignorance?

Posted on October 1, 2012 at 2:00pmJim, you don’t speak on my behalf, nor any other Christian’s behalf. You speak for yourself and yourself only. Stop your own hatred of the freedom of speech. Freedom of speech exists whether liberals agree with it or not. If you try to silence my 1st amendment, I’ll introduce you to my 2nd amendment.

Posted on October 1, 2012 at 2:24pmI can really see Jesus saying, “Aww, I am not going to say anything to that group of people like the Pharisees because we mustn’t offend them, now”…NO! He condemned pharisaical liars for not living for the Lord with all their hearts, souls and minds, period! Mr. Wallis is horribly deceiving many into sacrificing their freedoms for lies.
