See How the Left Is Reacting to ‘Obama’s Other Race Speech’

Just as The Daily Caller’s Tucker Carlson predicted on “Hannity” Tuesday night, the left immediately came to President Obama’s defense and dismissed — or ignored — the controversial video of Obama speaking at Hampton University, quickly becoming known as “Obama’s other race speech.”

In the video, Obama says that Hurricane Katrina victims in New Orleans were treated differently than 9/11 victims in New York and Hurricane Andrew victims in southern Florida, implying that the federal government’s slow response was somehow related to the fact that New Orleans is largely black and poverty stricken. Obama also praised Rev. Jeremiah Wright heavily, calling him a “friend” and a “great leader.”

While the media did report on Obama’s 2007 speech, the most controversial comments were improvised and not included in his prepared remarks, allowing them to escape scrutiny from the press.

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow mocked the video heavily, saying conservatives think Obama’s “secret plan” was to be “way more black than he seems to you now.”

“This is how he snuck into the White House, right? People didn’t actually know he was this black, and if they had known, they never would have elected him,” she continued.

Huffington Post blasted the story and went with the front page headline “Epic Fail: Drudge, Fox News Daily Caller Blow It”:

The release was preceded by an all-afternoon Drudge Report banner headline splash, billing the video as some sort of electorally game-changing revelation with racial overtones that was going to affect the 2012 campaign ahead of the first presidential debate.

It ended up being a rerun of a 2007 story that was already well known to reporters and political partisans. So, as a piece of new and incendiary news, it was something of a letdown. However, as a piece of Internet trolling that forced political reporters to bide their time until the evening release of the video, instead of watching the goings-on in the last days of Major League Baseball’s regular season, it was a work of genius.

The liberal Think Progress focused on the fact that the speech is old and the transcript has been available for years. The site argues Obama’s racially-charged comments are not controversial at all:

All day, the right-wing media have teased an “explosive” new video that exposes the “real” Barack Obama. The video turned out to be a speech from June 2007 at Hampton University, which was widely reported at the time. The full transcript of his prepared remark has been available for years.

The “explosive” news, according to the Daily Caller, is that Obama briefly deviated from his prepared remarks to comment on Hurricane Katrina. Obama said the federal government should do more to rebuild New Orleans, including waiving some requirements of the Stafford Act as the federal government did after 9/11 and Hurricane Andrew. Fox News, apparently, thinks this statement is outrageous and controversial.

Other outlets like CNN.com and NBCNews.com apparently decided not to cover the video at all, at least as of 11:42 p.m. ET.

However, CNN’s Sam Feist dismissed the video as old news Tuesday night. He tweeted “Re: Secret tape of the Obama event: CNN covered it in 2007. It was open press. Here’s our 2007 story: on.cnn.com/SZkeIy”

The CNN article makes no reference to Obama’s comments on Jeremiah Wright and provides no context to his Hurricane Katrina diatribe.

His colleague, CNN political reporter Peter Hambry, also downplayed the content of Obama’s 2007 speech on Twitter, sarcastically noting: “you know who aired video of Obama’s Hampton speech in 2007? Fox News. Tuesday, June 5, 2007. 6:00 PM EST. Thanks, Lexis-Nexis.”

  Chrissy boy, Maddow, and the chubby guy who could double for Curly Howard (if you shaved his head), have never mentioned Obama without saying something about his color. They can’t seem to get past it. When I think of Obama, color is the last thing on my mind. I think, unemployment, devaluation of the dollar, rising energy costs, dying crops, increasing cost of food, increasing regulations, decreasing quality of life…you know…minor stuff, compared to his COLOR!

The hilarious part is I listened to this on Hannity without the echo. In the audio without the extras MSNBC added you can hear Obama in a Southern Black Drawl that shocks you. When Rachael puts it on it has echoes that distort the voice until you cannot hear anything.

  The Federal government cannot respond until the governopr of the state (Democrat Kathleen Blanco) asks them to help. The gov asked for Fed help on August 27th & Bush authorized FEMA to help on the 27.
  
  “Governor Blanco oversaw the massive evacuation of 93 percent of the New Orleans area”
  So 7% of the people stayed. Some to loot, some to fend off the looters from their house & some becasue they had no clue oie the government provided no transportation (School Bus Ray Nagin). Whose fault is that?
  
  Let’s cut to the chase. Barack Obama is spreading a blood libel just the same as Louis Farahkhan.
  The levee system makes for interesting reading. The Army Corps of Engineers knew about I walls having a failure mode that happened during the CAT 5 stoem as early as 1986. Between the corps of engineers & the LOCAL level boards is where the blame lies. As well as Mayor Ray NAgin who had a fleet of School buses that were to be used as part of the city’s evacuation plan. He did not use them because he forgot or he hadn’t read the plan.
  
  Note to Farahlkan: You don’t need need to used exlposives when you leave the flood gates open which happened. Of course if you point this out, you have to prosecute specific people & they will not likely be Republicans. Which was the point of the blood libel.

The video that Brietbart had been holding onto before his death was supposed to be some epic slam against the left. Unfortunately, it didn’t expose much and didn’t live up to the hype that built up before the video that was released. Although I think this video is more damning than the one released by BreitbartTV after Brietbart died, I still do not think this “new” video lived up to the hype. I’ve watched it and would really like to know why there was so much internal dispute within Drudge over the racial overtones of this video.

Pat Caddell made a harsh indictment against all the MSM but I knew it would just be one of those stories that would go away as quickly as it was reported. There’s nothing that the MSM cannot spin; Melissa Harris Perry’s little rant defending Elizabeth Warren revealed the extreme mental gymnastics that, in my opinion, constitutes a serious psychiatric disorder. So many politicians and reporters have become such pathological liars that I think only an economic depression, large-scale viral epidemics, and war will bring the USA to it’s knees and humble all of us. It may be for a brief time but sadly that’s the only thing that will bring the American people together again.

  DEPENDS upon what your frame of reference is. IF you know that New Orleans was given tons more money and that the ONLY delay was the criminals prowling the streets then you realize that Obama is using N O as a dividing point.
  IF you know that 5 days BEFORE this speech, Obama got on National TV and threw Rev. Wright “under the bus” to appease the majority, you’d be ABLE TO CONNECT THE DOTS AND REALIZE THAT NOTHING OBAMA SAYS…not one thing…IS TRUTHFUL and it’s all designed to accomplish his goal: Take Down America. SO, I’d say that this VIDEO is VERY SIGNIFICANT.
  It’s not the faux accent; the cadence; the style …it’s the LIES. THIS IS NO HEALER; THIS IS NO “PRESIDENT OF ALL THE PEOPLE” he never intended to be. He just wanted in the front door so he could grab the keys to to the storage units and the $$$. What do they mean this is not a bomb of a video? Really? This is Obama inciting violence: Where’s your dollar? Putting on a black accent, playing a role of a black preacher, and telling them “they don’t care as much about you”. That is racial division, and it is utterly not true.
And he is chummy with Jeremiah Wright, calls him a counselor, and adviser, the one who hears his wife complaints about him. When the Wright America-Hating rants came out he told us he didn’t know him to be that way. This was clearly a lie, and this vindicates Hannity, who insisted this could not be.
And the black accent, which we have never heard him speak as president, shows this man is a chameleon, a scary guy. Who is this man?
The MSM reported about the speech but they chopped it up, they took out the incendiary remarks, they gave us a bill of goods. MSNBC continues to do the same thing but we are catching them at it now; we didn’t catch this before!
Is this the Barack Obama that the democrats thought they were voting for? Really?
So this community organizer violence inciter and racist is the real man we have in the White House. And this video is supposed to mean nothing? These people are insane.

In the video, he calls Jeremiah Wright his mentor, his counselor, the one who counsel’s his wife when she has complaints with him. Yet, when the media was raging with Jeremiah Wright damning America and being a total A$$, Obama claimed he “never heard Jeremiah say those things”. Obama distanced himself from Wright. And the MSM let him off the hook. In the video we now know for sure that what Hannity insisted was true, was in fact true, that Obama was part and parcel and well-aligned with the racist, America hating Wright.
The video shows Obama doing his “community organizing” by inciting violence. He as asking the blacks in the audience: “where’s YOUR dollar?”, he is claiming that the US Government purposely rebuilt New York and Florida but didn’t rebuild New Orleans because they are black.
This video is a glimpse into the real mind of Barack Obama, a glimpse we were not allowed to consider during the last election. We were misled, and lied to by the MSM. They covered it up, and excluded the incendiary remarks where Obama is basically telling blacks “the government doesn’t like you because you are black”. That’s what he is saying! And it was an utter, plain, LIE. It is not TRUE in the least.
I don’t see how this is not a significant, and very scary thing to confirm. The media sold us a bill of goods, they “created” a bi-racial, good for the whole “Barack Obama”. Is this the Barack Obama you democrats really thought they were voting for?

  Neverending, you are absolutely right. Which really vindicates Mitt Romneys comments on not bothering with the 47%. I wish that since it was said in confidence at a private fundraiser that it had stayed in confidence, but it’s out now, and he is absolutely right. Work on the people who still have a brain and free will. I don’t even bother with the MSM anymore. I don’t complain about them, I don’t watch them. We are beyond that point not. The people who do watch and believe are pretty un-reachable. They’re as much in the Tank for Obama as the networks they watch. Fortunately, one fact that I think is being overlooked about that 47% is the fact that quite a few of them are just to lazy to actually vote. So hopefully by focusing on the undecided there will be enough of an awakening to salvage whats left of this country.

  Obama could pull out a gun during the debate tonight and start shooting people in the audience, and MSNBC would refuse to cover the story because they could not authenticate the video, and the other MSM outlets would be blaming it on our gun culture along with the Koch Brothers and Grover Norquist.

Watched “Dreams of My Real Father” on amazon and it was eye opening. There are some parts I questioned but overall there is truth to Obama’s agenda bankrupting America the same way New York was bankrupted to over whelm the welfare roles. It brings down the existing government.

Lets say that New Orleans didn’t get as much as money as Hurricane Andrew or New York on 9/11, it wasn’t because the city was predominately black it was because it is predominately 12 ft below sea level. What idiot builds a city below sea level? If we rebuilt it back to its former glory and a new hurricane hit it again, that would be money wasted. It has nothing to do with the blacks. Common sense tells us New Orleans is an accident waiting to happen over and over and over again.

  But they did get more .. they got everything … before Katrina Florida had 4 hurricanes in 2004 … and once Katrina hit .. those Florida communities were forgotten .. I know one of them hit right near my home .. Charley … we just had the new High School open last year .. we had kids who spent their entire high school and more in “temporary” trailers … going from one to another for classes. But all you heard about was about N.O. and Katrina .. and making it a racial issue .. look at the celebrities who went and built homes .. no one came and built homes here .. we were expected to rebuild on our own .. and the community did.

Ive been on several sites taking a look at the responses and I gotta ask, was there some email all these people got to say the same exact thing? The response to this by the drone monster army seems well coordinated/ organized!! They are all saying that “we rightwingers” are grasping at nothing, its an old video etc etc. For some reason they are associating the OLD 9 minutes that was covered a few years ago to the new footage. They leave out the fact that a 36 minute video was cut down to 9 and the “transcript” was nothing but approved talking points.

How can something never seen be called old news? What they are doing is like dismissing the directors cut of a movie with 20 minutes of additional footage and a different ending!

Well, lets be honest, it was pushed like a timebomb and turned out to be a sparkler…

Sure it shows another side of obama again, but it wasn’t the DEVASTATING news that Drudge and Hannity made it out to be…

When we can see Obama’s actually college transcripts or more importantly that secret LA Times video they have been holding secret, maybe then we’d have something solid… this was really a big nothing…

Maybe this was a great way of worrying everyone and then maybe dropping a REAL bombshell soon….

  It is a bombshell. Not necessarily in content, but it brings obummer’s “other” side back out into the public discourse again. The fact that it is being discussed forces the left to respond to it. There over the top responses just serve increse the importance of the video.

  I understand your point but that is because you (we) are not surprised because we already knew this about O. It is hard to believe but there are many who rely on the state controlled media who have never heard anything negative re: O (though it will take days for them to hear about it and the alternative media will spin it as nothing) – it will come as a big shock to them…..
  
  There are women in my Sunday School class who are “jaws agape” at the things I (and a few others) tell them everyweek before class. While the women in my Sunday School class are by no means “Obama Phone” folks – they do not have cable or the internet. They rely on the alphabet stations and the local (leftist) paper – they will be stunned (but this will reinforce what I have been telling them)

  It would be next to impossible to release any kind of bombshell against Obama. Those of us who had him pegged before he was elected have seen sooo much that nothing really shocks us now. Those who voted for or will vote for him are so far gone that they could’nt give a **** what he does as long as they keep getting their freebies. In the scheme of things, this video is pretty mild. We have Ambassadors, Border Patrol Agents, Seals etc. being killed wholesale as a direct result of Obamas incompetence, and he just keeps on getting a free pass. Gonna take more than a video of him being openly racist to make an impact at this stage of the game
