Herman Cain to College Hecklers: If America Isnt the Greatest Country in the World, Leave!

(AP File Photo)

Former presidential candidate and CEO of Godfather’s Pizza Herman Cain took his message of economic prosperity to the University of Michigan last week where, perhaps not surprisingly, a number of students “booed” when Cain said we are living in the greatest country on Earth.

Speaking at a jobs forum on campus, Cain said: “Every time I run into someone who came here from another country, they always share with me their story, and reassert the fact that this is the greatest country in the world.”

“It’s not!” what sounded like at least two students shouted in protest.

As the crowd drowned out the hecklers with “boos” and a “U-S-A” chant, Cain launched into a fiery defense of his country:

If this is not the greatest country in the world, why is it that our economy is 25% of the world GDP?

If it’s not the greatest country in the world, why do we have more freedoms and liberties than anybody else…?

If it’s not the greatest country in the world, how is it that this nation was able to become the power that it is militarily and economically in the short 236-year history, relative to the history of the rest of the great nations in the world?

If it’s not the greatest country in the world, how is it possible to have a black man in the White House…?

If this is not the greatest country in the world, leave!

Here is video of Cain’s impromptu lesson in American exceptionalism:

Lakehartwellsailor……..I agree. I liked Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich. I still do but they were a threat to the established elitists with the RNC and they both posed a real threat to Obama. I don’t know who decided to try to destroy both of these men but maybe, just once, the RNC the DNC did work together.

Supported TARP (that ignited the Tea Party)
      Supports the unconstitutional “Patriot” Act

Herman Cain should go to speak in every university and college in America. Our students need to be confronted with reality. He is very didactic and sincere. Only one thing I would ask: a better video sound, because it is hard to understand him in the first time. But Herman is wonderful!

I agree absolutely.. Cain was my first choice and I wrote him in on my TX ballot as a matter of principle…
and to Brother…give it a rest…RP never cracked half the support that Cain had…you are just jealous that a successful black business man that understands you can’t be an isolationist in today’s world and supports the Jewish people and Israel out performed and spanked your boy all around the country…and Cain only ran for President once…isn’t this RP’s 4th or 5th time…..oh yeah..and Herman is not a career politician like RP with what…nearly 30 years in DC…but we can play…

PRIVATE Federal Reserve Chief – yes he was of the KC Fed, second only to Dallas in terms of how conservative the board is…
Supported Romney in 08 – what you liked McCain?
Supported TARP (that ignited the Tea Party) – admitted it was a mistake
Supports the unconstitutional “Patriot” Act – says some was good, some was bad
Chilean collectivist retirement (unconstitutional in America) – quasi private system that GWB based his plan off that pays 10x US returns
Bizarrely believes there can be state-level gun control – the Founders did too, called the 10th Amendment
Dismissed any housing bubble… as did 90% of us
Dismissed any financial collapse… as did 90% of us

He is the 1% who takes care of all those on welfare, takes care of the salaries of all those working for the government, and takes care of the roads etc for the rest of us who have to do real work for a living. It’s a shame he is to honest and patriotic to become president.

The idea of America is always number 1!! The hijack of our Constitutional Republic by the Federal Reserve in in 1913 to present day has corrupted that dream. While I don’t agree with the jack*** in the crowd maybe he has a valid point in questioning “Are we STILL the greatest nation in the world?”. My answer “YES”, but only because of the people and the idea. We have allowed some very bad things, and believed some very good lies from political cons who use “propaganda” to con us into believing they are somehow patriots. Herman Cain is a part of that Federal Reserve camp, and don’t believe for a second that he is not a PROGRESSIVE. So, SURE I agree with his talking points to an extent in this matter, but he is NO patriot. If he were such a man of great character then why did he bow out of the race??? Oh yeah, he pulled a Clinton. Morality, and CONSISTENCY matter. His actions are his legacy. Don’t be conned by a two minute video, and a crowd chanting USA, when the man ALONE holds the mic. Just something to consider.

@vrwCONspirator- WHAT??? Who’s talking about Ron Paul??? “BrotherW” was talking about Cain’s record period, and did a damn fine job of exposing him as being a flip flopping progressive politician. You bringing up Ron Paul in this debate only hurt your point that much more. You just basically verified what BW claimed. That Cain is a FLIP FLOPPER!!! Your answer or comment of I can play all day or whatever is just that, a game. Saying one thing and doing another. At least Ron Paul was consistent, Cain is an insider to the fullest. Your either a shill for him or to dumb to realize you’ve been sold a bill of goods that is false, and led to the salt lick like the rest of the sheeple brother. Sorry, you epic failed, and owned yourself with that witty comeback. @exrepub:

      Fair enough.

The idea of America truly is exceptional. But, as mere mortals, we will always fail a lot. Our republic has slowly improved, sometimes in quick bursts, over the last 200ish years… But we are past the summit now. We are in decline in so many different areas. Why? I believe it is because we are in a post-constitution era. Those assigned to speak for the powers that be talk the talk, but walk a very different walk. It is totally obvious we are inching towards tyranny. And I do not believe we can “ease” our way out of this matter. The bottom will drop, sooner or later. Don’t despair, gain knowledge and prepare with wisdom. Some will thrive, eventually.

OK, those students have a point. Progressives are NOT exceptional. America IS exceptional, not because of our government, but in spite of our government. The Democratic Party has brainwashed their supporters to feel inferior and dependent. They are a polar extreme from the Democratic Party under JFK when he said “And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” Democrats now want and expect from the government (the taxpayers) and give very little in return. It’s up to conservatives to re-educate these people and their failing ideology.

Herman Cain can defend America’s record, but not his own which did in his campaign! 234 years sounds like a short time to achieve greatness until you consider how long the once great civilizations of Persia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, China, Ottoman… have been around — 2-5,000 years. Maintaining greatness has proven to be a much harder task. All tides rise and fall. America is no different.

I will post this transcription from The Newsroom, in which the chcracter Will responds to a college girls question of “why is America the greatest country?”:

“And you, Sorority Girl, just in case you accidentally wander into a voting booth one day, there’s some things you should know. One of them is there’s absolutely no evidence to support the statement that we’re the greatest country in the world. We’re seventh in literacy. Twenty-seventh in math. Twenty-second in science. Forty-ninth in life expectancy. A hundred and seventy-eighth in infant mortality. Third in median household income. Number four in labor force and number four in exports. We lead the world in only three categories: Number of incarcerated citizens per capita, number of adults who believe angels are real, and defense spending, where we spend more than the next twenty-six countries combined, twenty-five of whom are allies. Now none of this is the fault of a twenty-year-old college student, but you nonetheless are without a doubt a member of the worst, period, generation, period, ever, period. So when you ask what makes us the greatest country in the world, I dunno what the f–k you’re talkin’ about. Yosemite?”

Herman Cain goes against what the liberals consider the norm for conservatives. In other words, they can’t figure him out, which is one of the reasons I think he’s so great. Good going, Mr. Cain. Wish it was you instead of Romney on the ballot.

SIMP, He taking over for Neal Boortz’s radio show. Rated number seven in talk radio right now, and that is saying a lot these days. Have loved Boortz since the first time I heard him about 6 years ago.
Then consider the CEO positions that Cain has held along with his speaking engagements.

If we had more Patriotic Americans like Herman Cain, we would remain the greatest country in the World.
    God bless Herman.

And what made this country great?

It is the ABILITY to be equal.

I did NOT say that EVERYONE IS EQUAL. We are all NOT equal.

But this country makes it possible (for now) to BECOME better than you are now.

    How? Freedom.

    And what threatens freedom?

    Tyranny

And where does tyranny come from?

    Power.

And where does power come from?

By buying it with free OBAMA PHONES

I love Herman Cain’s ability to express things in such a simple manner. He is down to earth and NOT politically correct, I think that is what I love most about him. I also appreciate when he answers and “yes” or “no” question, he follows it always with, “and here is why….”.

The candyass in the audience getting the free ride in college doesn’t appreciate the fact that this is the greatest country in the world. So get your ‘free’ college in N.Korea or Cuba and don’t give me the BS that he has student loans, they’ll be forgiven by the Marxist mulatto POS heathen in the oval office and everybody knows it.That student loan will be paid by taxpayers.

I know…I don’t get that…why if America is so BAD….why do socialists stay here? Why don’t they move to France, or Greece, Italy? I just don’t get it.

The socialists, Marxists, Communists, etc. stay here because they want to CHANGE this country into what THEY want it to be, rather than accept what it was created to be: FREE.

Reminds me of people who go to a church or other organization–even marry someone and do so with the INTENT of changing them to THEIR likeness/preferences, rather than finding the RIGHT church, organization, or mate in the first place! If they are SO ENTHRALLED with socialism, Marxism, Communism, whatever, then go FIND THE COUNTRY THAT MATCHES THEIR BELIEFS/PREFERENCES. And leave America for those of us who like a FREE REPUBLIC!

He’s only partly right. He’s comparing us to the rest of the world. He’s right, the rest of the world sucks in most cases. HOWEVER, he’s being somewhat disingenuous in how he phrases it. We are declining from where we have come from. We are LESS free than before. We are LESS economically strong than we used to be. We have LESS opportunity than we used to.

The question isn’t if we are better than everyone else. We always have been. The question is why are we going backwards. Leaving doesn’t fix that issue. Well, that’s not entirely true. Emigrating doesn’t fix that issue. Secession does.

Yes leaving will help fix the issue.
One less liberal to deal with in the near future.

I agree! Would have been a MUCH BETTER “black man” in the White House!
