Could The Election Be Decided This Week?

[Editor’s note: the following is a cross post that originally appeared on CNBC.com]:

Sure there’s a solid month until Election Day, but for all intents and purposes, the race for the White House may be over tomorrow.

On Wednesday October 3rd, GOP Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney and incumbent President Barack Obama face one another in their first debate and it’s widely believed that Mitt Romney must achieve some critical objectives if he hopes to pull ahead of President Obama in the polls.

“It’s a big day for Romney,” remarked CNBC’s Larry Kudlow, “absolutely no question there.”

And though Romney is an accomplished politician and business leader, what he must achieve in a matter of hours may be the hardest things he’s ever had to do in his life.

“In the end voters have to like the candidate they vote for,” explained Republican Strategist Roger Stone on The Kudlow Report. “Mitt Romney (appears as if he) has no empathy. He comes across as a man who doesn’t share voter’s hopes and desires.”

That’s what Romney needs to change — and he needs to do it fast.

As Jonathan Martin of Politico pointed out, the election isn’t a referendum against Barack Obama, so it needs to be “for” Mitt — and currently too few people are “for” Mitt.

Polls show that, when “people are asked ‘is Mitt somebody who cares for people like you,’ many more people respond ‘no’ than answer ‘yes,’” explained Politico’s Martin on The Kudlow Report.

“That is the challenge in these debates -– Romney needs to show that he can relate to people and show he can improve their lot.”

“Mitt’s message is getting muddy,” added Larry Kudlow.

According to Reuters, “the likability factor” will be measured closely after the debate. As it stands now, President Obama is considered more “likable” winning 52 percent with men and 51 percent among women.

Mitt Romney has to change that and he has to get the ball rolling in that direction on Wednesday.

    UPDATE 10/4/12
    ROMNEY CAME THROUGH OK!

MATTER OF FACT, HE DID QUITE WELL.

TO PUT IT ANOTHER WAY, BARACK OBAMA HAD A MOP HANDLE STICKING OUT AN OPENING IN HIS BUTT AND ROMNEY USED HIM TO MOP THE FLOOR WITH.

GREAT DAY TO BE AN AMERICAN!

Making a choice is easy. Do you want a capitalist, Romney, or a communist thug, ‘lil berry’? The capitalist will bring the country back to greatness with jobs for all willing to work. The communist thug will continue to drag the country down to the level of whale crap on the bottom of the ocean, with no jobs for anyone.

For anyone who thinks Mitt is not caring, explain why he Donated 30% of his income to charity.
He is a father, husband and real man who follows through on what he says.

Religious institutions and anti-gay rights groups count as “charities” in America, so long as they don’t make a profit.

Standing on its own, that does not ipso facto make Romeny a compassionate guy.

Mitt’s message is not muddy at all to me. It reads success for America after four years of disappointment.

Wow, if I wanted to know what the liberals were saying, I’d go to the liberal sites and read it. I come here for the other side. There sure seems to be a disconnect between The Blaze site, and the Blaze TV. I have yet to see a liberal on the set.

how can msnbc even be quoted on the blaze. the facts were presented very well by mitt, he was polite and was still able to make his point. where as obama insinuated that mitt was lying. truth of the matter is that the obama doesnt have a chance against mitt. unfortunately obama has all the money from soros and the media and press behind. no matter what mitt will never get a fair chance either by the press or soros controlled newspapers. mitt is what america needs and deserves, but im afraid with all the ballot voter fraud, all the underhanded politics and lies being generated by the obama camp, mitt hasnt got a chance. god help us all, and please god bless america.

You see, we seem to vote on the likability of the candidate not on his ability solve problems or his accomplishments. We need a CEO that can put together a super team that will solve our countries problems and give us back our rights. And I think of the two Mitt is the one.

Sorry but Mitts message on the economy during the debate, as of this post, is doing very well.

    Blaze,

We don’t want to see or read what the pundits are saying. If we did we would be watching and listening to them!
