Perhaps taking a hint from Steve Jobs who was well-known for wearing the same black turtleneck and Levi’s, Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently admitted, despite being a 28-year-old billionaire, to wearing the same outfit on a daily basis.
The wardrobe: a gray T-shirt with three Facebook-style icons at his left shoulder, jeans, and occasionally a hoodie. In an interview with the Today show’s Matt Lauer, which airs Thursday, Zuckerberg said he owns about 20 of these T-shirts and is not sure how many hoodies.
These photos are just a few sightings of Zuckerberg in his iconic T-shirt.

Here’s what Today records Zuckerberg saying of his closet situation with his new bride, Priscilla Chan, whom he married in May, which could account for his limited style:
The Facebook CEO says that he doesn’t really have much in his closet — it’s mainly used by his wife, who graduated from medical school at the University of California at San Francisco shortly before their marriage. Instead, Zuckerberg’s identical t-shirt collection lives in the one drawer he’s allotted.
“Wait a second, are you telling me,” Lauer interupts. “At home you have one drawer?”
“I have one drawer,” Zuckerberg confirms. “Like men everywhere. Like men everywhere.”
Similarly, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook also maintains a consistent appearance in public wearing a long-sleeved button down shirt in dark colors.

So, are these tech giants creating a brand for themselves and showing stability with an unvaried wardrobe or are they just too busy to think about their outfits? Let us know what you think in the comments.

Oct. 3, 2012 at 12:03pmI think it’s pretty simple.
Most men either have a few clothes they love or they just grab whatever is on top of the pile.
When you’re rich, the entire pile can be the few clothes you love. If I were a billionaire I’d stock up on My Little Pony Polo Shirts and Khaki Shorts and I’d be good to go.

Oct. 3, 2012 at 11:08amJust going on memory here; I believe Einstein wore the same outfit every day because he didn’t want to clutter up his mind with unimportant things like what to wear. He had many versions of the same set of clothes hanging in his closet and just grabbed one each day. I understand he purposefully never remembered phone numbers for the same reason.

Oct. 3, 2012 at 10:55amHe’s like Shaggy from Scooby-Doo. Actually, maybe more like Gilligan.
I don’t have a problem with this. If the dude wants to wear the same clothes every day, more power to him. It’s better than the guys who get rich, then go out and blow all of their money on ridiculous wardrobes, $500,000 cars, and $800 champagne.
Unfortunately, he did waste $100 million by giving it to the city of Newark’s schools. It was a nice gesture, but if history is any indicator, throwing money at failing schools does not solve the problem. It only lines the pockets of bureaucrats and unions.
This kid still has a lot to learn!

Oct. 3, 2012 at 10:45amIt’s funny how the richest Americans like Zuckerberg, Jobs, and Bill Gates are atheists and agnostics and are moderate to liberal when conservatives like to pain the picture that all rich people are uniformly conservative. Hopefully today’s youth will take the cue and look up to these great Americans and attempt to emulate them.

Oct. 3, 2012 at 12:29pmYou’ve got a false premise. Who paints the picture that all rich are uniformly conservative? Heck, I’ll add to your list: Warren Buffett, George Soros, Michael Bloomberg, the list goes on. For the record though, Jobs was devoutly Buddhist, not atheist; and firmly apolitical. A more nuanced examination of his views reveals an ever-evolving complex mashup of seeming contradictions that tended toward economic conservatism and social liberalism. Gates is similarly complex. When it comes to politics, these guys are all opportunists and can’t really be pinned down one way or the other.

Oct. 3, 2012 at 10:37amWhile I am no genius in any subject, I’ve observed that highly intelligent and creative people tend to get in a rut with their clothes (fashion designers as well). Some of them claim it’s their “trademark” but, perhaps it’s a kind of “security blanket?” Since their intelligence and creativity takes them on a wild journey and has many risks, maybe this is the one aspect of their lives where they have total control. Just a thought.

Oct. 3, 2012 at 10:33amHey–Hey! I’ve got 2-dressers…1=spring-summer-fall; 2=winter-spring. I have (even in my closset, many of the same shirts and pants or each type…usually jeans or “cords” of a few diff-colors. Shirts, maybe short/long-sleaves with a few variations(if any). I don’t wanna spend 1/2-my life desiding what to wear as some women I’ve met in my life(past-tense..met).

Oct. 3, 2012 at 9:41amThat’s cool. I wear a t-shirt and jeans everyday, I could care less about clothes. My only question to him is, did he wash his clothes if he wears the same thing everyday? I think it’s weird if you only have one design of t-shirt. Hey, and to give a plug to 1791 clothing co., they are the softest t-shirts ever!

Oct. 3, 2012 at 9:34amI’m pretty much the same way. It’s whatever you’re most comfortable in I guess. I have way more important things to be concerned with than trying to accessorize every morning. T’s, jeans, and white tennis shoes ( not so white anymore ) or navy blue Vans…and out the door I go.
Although I do tend to be a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to hygiene, keeping the house clean and orderly or work. Some of my friends call me Monk….and that’s fine with me :)
