Tonight marks the first presidential debate of the 2012 general election season. The match-up between President Barack Obama and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney kicks off at 9 p.m. ET from the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado. Jim Lehrer, host of News Hour on PBS, will moderate.
Format for tonight’s debate:
The debate will focus on domestic policy and be divided into six time segments of approximately 15 minutes each on topics to be selected by the moderator and announced several weeks before the debate.
The moderator will open each segment with a question, after which each candidate will have two minutes to respond. The moderator will use the balance of the time in the segment for a discussion of the topic.

Oct. 3, 2012 at 10:09pmI’m pretty sure Romney’s only saying he agrees on in a very vague sense, or just to show respect to him as the president… that’s all I can think of. Otherwise, he’s been doing good, Keystone pipeline, Solyndra, the trillion dollar bet Obama racked up, he’s just opening up one can of worms after another. I’m pretty green with politics, but does Obama seem to be running out of wiggle room up there, or is it just me?

Oct. 3, 2012 at 10:42pmThe last four years under Obama have been a nightmare. Who in their right mind thinks that four more under him would be better?
Constitutional Rights – States Rights – All being trumped by the United Nations which Obama loves and supports. He has surrounded himself with communists people. Gun rights next?
We are the frogs in the warming water being prepared to be boiled under a communist regime.
Government controls this – then that – then every damn thing in our lives. They tell us that we will not be allowed a medical treatment because we are no longer in the workforce adding to the society. That’s Obamacare. Not to mention the unconstitutional laws that are buried inside that legislation.
Remember Pelosi – We will know what’s in the bill after we pass it. Huh? Hold th heck on, folks.
Obama is lying to everyone. We are now running down a path of communism and socialism beyond belief. Businesses are closig at a record rate and more and more people are losing their jobs and benefits.
This is crazy! We can’t afford anyone – Left or Right or in between – screwing this up any more.
Obama and his czars are killing this nation. He is a spend freak. His foreign policy sucks and we are about to make the most important decision of our lives during this next election.
I hate Obama and feel that at this point if Romney is not elected, and he may not be because of all of the freebies Obama is handing out, this country will be ruined forever.

you said, ” romney is a constitutionalist.”
If that was true, why was he and his campaign apparently ok with the rules change which the RNC enacted which were blatantly unconstitutional..? Mitt is not a Constitutionalist. He is a Corporatist.
No Constitutionalist would go along with the silencing of the voice of the people.
In answer to the headline “who won?” I have to say that whenever the American people have their liberties stripped, they lose. Romney talked a good talk tonight. Obama did exactly as I thought he would ….be a communist that is trying to fool us by wrapping himself in our flag so to speak. He is a dunce. He does not know what he is talking about when he tries to talk about America because HE does have American ideals. The man is a communist and it is not hard to spot.
Romney is a little harder to read because he is not as blatant. He sounded more professional and polished, but I will never forget what his campaign did in the primaries and what the RNC did in Tampa. One thing for sure….Obama needs to go.

No, I am not Brother Winston. But I can say that all of his bullet points are true. And yes, I am a supporter of Ron Paul since late 2006.
Romney did very well in the debate last night. I just want to remind people that while they are gushing about how Constitutional he is, he is first and foremost a corporatist. Romney did mention the 10th amendment last night. That was a very calculated move to appease the millions of Ron Paul supporters and bring them into his fold.
Romney talked a lot about the economy last night. But the tale will be told when the debates get around to foreign policy. We cannot continue to be the police force of the world and at the same time keep our homeland defense strong and our borders secure. IF we would follow our own Constitution we would not have this horrific cliff we are about to fall off. IF we would end the unconstitutional wars, close bases that we do not need, build up our defense HERE…..then all that money on these wars and foreign aid to enemy nations could be used HERE. We have to stop this funding of both sides of wars. Choose a side and be done with it.
Entangling alliances which the constitution warns against, have become America’s bane. There is one alliance we should NEVER break and that is with our ally Israel. The communist in the oval office has treated Israel with such disrespect and utter disdain that I pray our next president can repair the damage done.

Of course my first choice is Ron Paul because he is probably going to be the last Constitutional Statesman I will have the privilege of knowing in my lifetime. I was asked a couple of days ago by another Blazer “what are you going to do?”. My husband had already made up his mind to vote for Romney. I was looking into Virgil Goode and Gary Johnson but neither measure up to the Constitutional standard. I was thinking of writting in Ron Paul as a protest….but that does not get the communist out of the White House. So I filled out my absentee ballot and voted for Romney. Not because I think he will bring our lost liberties back, but because the communist needs to get out of our oval office. It breaks my heart that the damn RNC did what they did. That should be the headliner here on the Blaze. The party that all you “tea party” folks gush about has sold your liberties down the river. We will see what happens. But God has already told us that part, now hasn’t He…?

I was disappointed with the RNC as well but at least there will be a 2016 election with Romney at the helm. I am a libertarian and hope that the Dems get a divided voter base so my party may get the chance to finally put up a candidate that can take back our country. Don’t foresee it in the next 20 years but for now I feel better that Obama may lose the White House.
