I Guess Im Known as an Obama Supporter: Chris Matthews Finally Admits It

During his MSNBC show on Thursday, Chris Matthews set out to cover for President Barack Obama who, by nearly every measurement, was outperformed by GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney in the first presidential debate on Wednesday.

“I guess I’m known as an Obama supporter,” he finally admitted, not exactly an earth-shattering revelation. “And I certainly wanted him to do well last night.”

Remember, this is the same person who got a “thrill” up his leg listening to Obama speak and had an on-air freak-out on Wednesday night after Romney outperformed Obama in the debate. He also previously argued the president has “never done anything wrong” and said the First Family is nearly “perfect.”

Still, Matthews willingly admitted that Obama’s debate performance was lackluster and lacking in “passion.”

But the MSNBC host was quick in getting back to praising the commander-in-chief:

“I do look up to him in so many ways. And when I’m with him, I do say to myself — and I do this really objectively, I think — I listen to him after he’s briefed on something and I think, ‘this guy ought to be president.’ He has the command of the issues. He has scope. He has relevance. He can talk to you as a regular person in common English, as well as the wonk talk. He’s got an I.Q. that must be in the hundred and whatever range — way up there. And yet last night he was tongue-tied. He let the other guy own the room.”

Matthews also said because Obama didn’t respond to Romney’s attacks effectively during the debate, he would set the record straight. Nearly all of “Hardball” on Thursday was dedicated to accusing Romney of being “inaccurate” and telling lies.

“Mitt Romney lied his ass off,” panelist Ron Reagan said, the son of former President Ronald Reagan.

Salon’s Joan Walsh said Romney was “prepared” and did very well in the debate, however, he “lied” and regularly says “whatever it takes” to win.

In a later portion of his show, Matthews accused Romney of not giving a “rat’s behind” about 47 percent of the country, referring to his infamous “47 percent” remarks and said Obama should have capitalized on the comments.

Unfortunately, MSNBC did not cut the video of Obama finally admitting he is “known as an Obama supporter.” In all seriousness, Matthews has probably admitted before that he is on the Obama bandwagon. Either way, it’s certainly no secret which candidate he favors.

  I heard Obama had an IQ of 120, when 100 is normal. My 13 year old son tested at 137 and he thinks Obama is an idiot. I tested at 120, so I think his IQ is about normal (since I don’t consider myself gifted). His IQ is not really in question. It’s when he can’t learn from the mistakes of the past (socialism/communism) and has the b@!!z to think he’ll be the only one in history to get it right.

  “Mitt Romney lied his ass off” Anyone who actually reads and understands the issues knows the Romney / Ryan campaign is based on attack lies and very little if any solutions to the real issues. Romney’s retraction of his clear statement, position and beliefs about the 47% is a clear example of how this guy even lies to himself. No question romney was a great art critic and salesman during the debate. But his superficial statements were prefaced by lies about the underlying issues and lacking any kind of position or policy stances. He is an empty suit filled with a lack of character, integrity and ethics. A citizen who tells you he cares about the US while he places his money in offshore accounts and employs shell companies, tax loopholes and IRA tricks to avoid paying taxes. What i don’t get is they keep bring up this 47%. Is it not true that Presidents don’t get 100% of the votes? They speak as if we have had a time where 100% of the people of this great Nation have all voted for the exact same person. Have we not split the vote ever before? Is it not true that Obama will not likely get somewhere in the 40% of this years Electorate? That there is a percentage of American’s that still believe that “Obama is going to give me a free phone and free money” Get over it Romney will not win 100% of the people the truth is so misinterpreted by this media that is in Obama’s bag as he leads them over to a socialistic or Marxist system where he WILL wipe out the middle class.

He already said he wants to not build in the suburbs in the 2007 video in the church. But that fly’s over the people’s head. Listen to his words not mine. In that video tape. He doesn’t see why we need to build out where the middle class is lets just build in the city’s. Sound similar that reminds me of that movie i just watch the hunger games. Build up the elite inner city and let the outer fall apart. Yea yea conspiracy theory right? Well how you going to get to the city when gas prices are being “Necessarily skyrocket” He is telling the people we just aren’t listening. How many coal plants did he shut down already?   Obama 40%
  10 people make $1 dollar. Total of taxable income = $10
  US gets $4
  
  Romney’s 30% – Companies can take the extra money and hire, so………
  20 people make $1 dollar. Total of taxable income = $20
  US get $6
  
  6 is more than 4……… Increased tax revenue

  Interesting that you would mention that. I’ve been wondering if a divorce will be in order after he loses. If so, I think Michele will release a “tell all” book in her vengeance and in order to keep custody of the 2 girls. She won’t have a job or an income (at least I don’t think a first lady gets a retirement plan like a retired President does) so she’ll have to do something for money.
