Joe Biden: ‘Yes We Do’ Want to Raise Taxes by $1 Trillion

Vice President Joe Biden speaks in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012. (Credit: AP)
During a campaign stop in Iowa on Thursday, Vice President Joe Biden responded to accusations coming from the GOP that the Obama administration wants to raise taxes by $1 trillion. Well, he confirmed that they are true anyway, saying “Yes we do” as he called on the rich to pay more taxes.
“On top of the trillions of dollars of spending that we have already cut, we’re gonna ask – yes – we’re gonna ask the wealthy to pay more — My heart breaks, come on man,” Biden said sarcastically.
“You know the phrase they always use? ‘Obama and Biden want to raise taxes by a trillion dollars.’ Guess what? Yes we do in one regard. We want to let that trillion dollar tax cut expire so the middle class doesn’t have to bear the burden of all that money going to the super wealthy. That’s not a tax raise, that’s called fairness where I come from.”
Though Biden is asserting that allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire isn’t technically a tax increase, others disagree. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani did a good job explaining the issue on MSNBC Wednesday:
“If you extend the Bush tax cuts, you don’t cut taxes, you keep taxes where they are! If you don’t extend the Bush tax cuts, you raise taxes,” he said, before explaining that if he pays a higher rate next year that is, in fact, raising taxes.

This get rid of the Kennedys, Reids, Polisies and Jo would have never been a heart beat away from th epresidency. Here in Oklahoma we will lose Tom Colburn, one of the few intelligent Senators in DC. As much as we hate to see him go you can’t change the law for one man.

Posted on October 4, 2012 at 8:42pmI can’t wait to see Ryan tear into Biden at the VP debate. Biden’s head is so full of crap, he doesn’t stand a chance.
Oh, by the way… According to IRS statistics, roughly 2 percent of U.S. households have an income of $250,000 and above. By the way, $250,000 per year hardly qualifies one as being rich. It’s not even yacht and Learjet money. All told, households earning $250,000 and above account for 25 percent, or $1.97 trillion, of the nearly $8 trillion of total household income. If Congress imposed a 100 percent tax, taking all earnings above $250,000 per year, it would yield the princely sum of $1.4 trillion. That would keep the government running for 141 days, but there’s a problem because there are 224 more days left in the year. Further, the rich would now be flat broke so could not hire anyone with their businesses. They also wouldn’t be able to pay taxes the following year.
We don’t have a tax problem, we have a spending problem. Obama & Biden want to keep spending (Investing they call it) until the nation is broke.

Posted on October 5, 2012 at 7:06amYes, By the law the so-called BUSH tax cuts were to sunset or expire by 2010. When bush did his tax cuts in 2001 by LAW they had to sunset in less than 10 years because of the Bird rule.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bush_tax_cuts
So yes Obama extended the bush tax cuts for 2 more years because the house republicans demanded he extend all the tax cuts. He wanted to only extend them for people making under 250k a year.
But they wouldn’t be raising taxes. they would just let the Bush tax cuts expire like they were supposed to.
