Krauthammer on Presidential Debate: ‘Romney Won and Romney Won Big’
It seemed unanimous among both Republicans and Democrats, conservatives and liberals, that GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney outperformed President Barack Obama in Wednesday night’s debate. While the left scrambled to figure out what went wrong, the right rallied around Romney.
Fox News political analyst Charles Krauthammer said Romney won “big” in the debate, by “two touchdowns,” in fact.
“I think Romney won and Romney won big,” he said. “It doesn’t change the game, but it changes the momentum.”
Krauthammer continued: “The Romney campaign has had a terrible month — to the extent that people are saying ‘You know, who is this guy, he seems like a sap’. All of a sudden, this Romney shows up, and he’s knowledgeable, he’s confident, and he’s got nerve. He never backed down on any of the Obama attacks.”
“In fact, every time Obama hurled a particular at him, he came back with a three point answer,” he added.
Instead of merely showing up and surviving the debate, Romney proved himself to be President Obama’s “equal,” the analyst explained, adding that if that was a boxing match, Romney won the majority of rounds.
Krauthammer said Obama was lazy in the debate and didn’t go after Romney over his controversial “47 percent” remarks, saying he wanted to “play out the 90 minutes, hold the ball and win.”
“But he didn’t. He lost,” he said of Obama.
Watch the segment via Fox News below:
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin told Neil Cavuto on Fox News Wednesday night that she “almost felt sorry for” Obama.
“It was a struggle to watch some parts of this…President Obama, with his lack of enthusiasm for his own policies and his lack of conviction in trying to articulate why it is that he believes government will make you healthy, wealthy, and wise and happy when you know the vast majority of Americans know government is not the answer,” she said.
Watch the clip via Fox News/Mediaite below:

Posted on October 4, 2012 at 1:10amAgreed… I think for the first time in my life there’s a candidate for president that I not only understand but feel some sense of trust in. As I watched the debate, I considered Romney for moment and thought, “This guy’s not just ‘playing’ politics. He means business.” I’m glad to give him my vote, and come back to the Republican Party after 25 years of voting on just social issues. In my opinion, he’s a good man and he brings to life the “leadership principles” I studied in school (MBA – Management). He needs to stress more often, like he did tonight, that leaders lead, cast a vision, bring together the right people to work on different facets of it, and then facilitate while working with them on hammering out the details (because it is in the working out of the details, the best and most promising results will evolve – from great talent working together). Maybe I’m very naive in saying so, but he does embody leadership at its best. I do hope he wins the election! At least he has my vote.

Posted on October 4, 2012 at 5:27pmExcept his onion bag is full of lies and retreats from former positions that he is on the record of making. Romney may be feeling good about himself but he’s provided the Obama campaign with enough material to throw back in his face for the next five weeks. Romney did what he does best, tell whatever audience his talking to whatever he thinks they want to hear. His primary opponents were right, he really is the etch-a-sketch candidate.
I’m shocked the Tea Party isn’t all up in his face over his new found, compromising, reach across the aisle and make friends with the Democrats, persona. Of course maybe they know he had his fingers crossed behind his back, or maybe he didn’t, who knows what he really is, or isn’t.

Posted on October 4, 2012 at 8:31pmSimple: Considering the debate was viewed by 67 million people (according to Nielsen), there won’t be much opportunity to slip something by the voters. Each man will be on record for a long time. At least Romney is knowledgeable enough to be able to adjust his opinions over time as national and international events dictate. Obama didn’t seem to even be able to grasp the basics.

Romney has taken such a beating in the press from Obama;s camp and the liberal media. It was good to see him on his game. But we must be cautious as Obama will come at Romney hard in the next debate so Romney has got to ready, tough and forceful as the next moderator will try to sabotage Romney. I thought the line about Big Bird was priceless. Romney is what this country needs and let’s go out there and support him and vote out Obama.
