Obama Adviser Axelrod Calls on Media to Attack Romney

Sensing blood in the water from his own candidate, Obama’s lead strategist David Axelrod called on reporters to act as watch dogs on Romney in the final days of the debate on a conference call today.

Axelrod characterized Romney’s performance as “devoid of honesty,” and “completely untethered from the truth.” Yet he admitted it was “vigorous” and for that reason, reportedly argued on a conference call with reporters that the media would need to hold Romney to account where the president could not [emphasis added]:

“And so today, as the day after, I think the question for you [the media], for the American people is really one of character and whether or not a candidacy that’s so fundamentally rooted in hiding the truth and the facts from the American people and deception is the basis of trust on which you assign the presidency to a person.

“So that is what we are going to focus on moving forward. We’re going to hold Governor Romney accountable for the things that he said last night and we’re going to make him justify those claims – as I hope you will make him justify those claims.

“Because we need an an honest and a genuine and realistic plan to move forward and not a bunch of lines designed to get you through a debate.”

Axelrod also suggested that Obama would be shifting strategy in the coming debates, though apparently not completely so.

“He made a choice last night to answer the questions that were asked and to talk to the American people about what we need to do to move forward and to not get into serial fact checking with Governor Romney, which can be an exhausting never ending pursuit,” Axelrod joked. “Obviously moving forward we’re going to take a hard look at this and we’re going to have to make some judgements as to where to draw the line in these debates and how to use our time.”

Observers may take these lines as an apparent concession by Axelrod that his team was caught flat footed by Romney’s dramatic shift, both in terms of confidence, and in terms of message. President Obama’s next chance to try and assail this juggernaut-in-hiding will be on October 16, when he and Romney will meet for a Town Hall style debate on Long Island.

  These people never cease to amaze, do they? David Axelrod suggests we the people will have to question whether or not a man’s character and one whose so fundamentally rooted in hiding the truth and the facts from the American people and deception is the basis of trust on which to assign the presidency to a person..Using the word game here did he or did he not assign that basis to Obama? Obama is fundamentally rooted in hiding the truth (Obamacare behind closed doors, Fast and Furious, murder in an American embassy (our soil) and on and on but the next line makes sense if substituting President Obama for Governor Romney and we hold HIM accountable for the things he said. What a dip wad, we the people are fed up with them and the light was there last night. It was divine providence to hear an honest man.How sweet it was. Does anyone besides myself think Axelrod looks more like Hitler than Hitler does? Or do I just need glasses?

Off subject – Ya know I really didnt understand the voucher system til last night…As a 30 yr old woman I think its a great idea that we can have the option to use medicare or use the money from medicare to choose insurance for ourselves. Its good to be able to choose for myself.

  There is already a voucher system in place for medicare. My parents use it now. They have the choice of staying with medicare or getting a voucher for other insurance. They use their voucher and pay a bit extra out of their own pocket to get complete coverage because medicare is 80/20. Makes you wonder why Romney wouldn’t say that the voucher is already used in medicare.

Mr Axlerod does not have to remind the media to go after Romney, they have been having a war council ever since Mr Romney handed Obama his ass last evening. As soon as the fire in their collective **** has burned out they will be on the warpath. What will be interesting will be how far they will actually go to smear Romney now. I can see froth coming from some of their mouths now, Matthews, Shultz, even Sharpton (who can’t even spell debate) all are fired up and ready to pounce.

In flipping around the channels last night I saw Wolf Blitzer and John what’s his name over on CNN about to come unglued. They were trying to read the results of the CNN poll taken just after the debate. The results were 67% to 30% Romney. Wolf actually turned to John and asked are you sure about these numbers, better check again. ASmazing

  It struck me during the debate that the demeanor of both men seemed so atypical that it was almost as if “something” had come over both of them: to make Obama appear weak and defenseless and to make Romney look strong and Presidential. Then I recalled how many people have been praying so intently about this debate, that it would show America the truth. God does work in mysterious ways. Praise be to God.
