ABC: Authorities Investigating if Border Patrol Agent Killed By Friendly Fire

This undated photo provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection shows Border Patrol agent Nicolas Ivie. Ivie was shot to death Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 in Arizona near the U.S.-Mexico line, the first fatal shooting of an agent since a deadly 2010 firefight with Mexican bandits that spawned congressional probes of a botched government gun-smuggling investigation. ABC News sources tell the outlet that authorities are investigating whether Border Patrol agent Nicholas Ivie was killed earlier this week as a result of friendly fire.
Ivie was shot and killed while on horseback in the wee hours of Tuesday morning near the border of Naco, AZ.
ABC reports:
The scenario that is being examined is whether the fatal shooting happened in the “fog of war” following some type of encounter.
Additional forensics are being done on ballistics and additional interviews are being conducted to determine if the matter can be resolved in the coming days.
It’s unclear from the report if this possibility is a normal part of any investigation or if it is considered a strong possibility that warrants a more in-depth look.
Ivie was shot along with another colleague who was taken to the hospital but survived. They were ironically assigned to the Brian Terry station, named after a slain agent killed with a gun from Fast and Furious.
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Posted on October 5, 2012 at 3:51pmHow many illegals or drug mules enter our country on horseback ? My guess…..maybe 1 in 100,000.
Consequently, if other border patrol agents encountered someone on horseback, odds are it would be one of ours. As a result, the the chances of two individuals being hit by friendly fire, are probably one in 5 million.

Posted on October 5, 2012 at 3:13pmThe entire area is being hung out to dry, just as they did in Monument Fire. The Fort has had virtually all personnel laid off, some after 30 years of faithful service. When Monument broke out, it was weeks after the Aerostat broke its moorings in wind, something that hasn’t happened since it’s brought down at the first hint of wind. Listening to the helicopter, Antelope, Garden & the golf course fires broke out in sequence along a “known route.” The blowout happened after a failed burnout the night before – I listened to the radio transmissions all night, I heard them. The only properties that made it were the ones local firefighters told the feds to bug off & did burnbacks on their own. 30 were picked up in a residential area last week, there’s constant traffic even coming off the Fort. And the president has the NERVE to say his primary duty is to protect us? We’re not seeing it here.

What????
Also your take on the fires are wrong. I also listened to the radio transmission, from the RV park behind RV City as the fire came through my yard.

Posted on October 5, 2012 at 1:35pmThis is another outrage from Pravda. Take a single fact, the Border agent was shot and killed, then speculate, hypothesize, then publish you fantasy (the way They would prefer it happened) that other agents killed him, not the militant drug runners crossing the US border.
MS media is pathetic and dangerous. I hope more people SUE them for their false stories.

Posted on October 5, 2012 at 1:03pmI see there are a few sore heads that do not think Obama can do anything wrong. I guess their 8 years of slandering Bush make them think that their are the only ones who are allowed to do so.

Posted on October 5, 2012 at 12:15pmThis was the commentary on NBC with Brian Williams as well. When I watched our local NBC news last night, they parroted the same foolish thing. They then proceeded to show an interview with a local investigator that said there was absolutely NO EVIDENCE that corresponded with those claims but as the investigation continues they can not rule anything out. Good grief! If they are getting their headlines from this, they can claim virtually anything happened. We are familiar with some of the family members of Nick and pray for them, especially his wife and children. I am so upset thinking about the lives of this man as well as those who died in Libya being used is so blatant a political way.

Our country is the PRODUCT OF GREED, this is what happens when you have politicians there just to get their names in the hisory books, Lawyers who raped the economy and a Goverment by the Goverment for the Goverment. We should have never bailed out the banks, we should have allowed them to fail and started over , maybe then we could have gotten it right.

Posted on October 5, 2012 at 9:47amFrom the ABC report: “The FBI Phoenix field division would only say in a statement that, “Due to the sensitive and ongoing nature of this investigation, the FBI is unable to provide any further details at this time.”
The FBI is under the Dept. of Justice, and we know who heads that. Looks to me like Holder is once again playing CYA.

The terrain just north of Naco is mountainous, and would be nearly impossible to patrol other than on foot or horseback. Much of that area is not even suitable for ATVs.

This sounds fisky, are they saying friendly fire because he was killed with a weapon from FandF?I hope this wasnt a case of friendly fire, but either way, i have to wonder if the truth will come out about this agents death…..

Posted on October 5, 2012 at 8:21amConsidering who is doing the investigating (ABC) I doubt anything they say is factual. Look at the mess they made in Colorado. This is what happens when you have no credibility. Everything you report is doubted.
