Shocking surveillance video from a Kansas City Metro bus shows what appears to be a teenager violently attacking a driver. As a stream of individuals walk off of the public bus, a young man can be seen among those exiting unexpectedly sucker-punching the 54-year-old bus operator in the face. The bizarre footage, which was captured on October 1, has officially gone viral.

Following the incident, Kansas City Police posted the disturbing video on its official YouTube channel, where it has already brought in more than 500,000 views. Authorities are in search of the young man shown in the clip and are asking anyone with potential information about the incident to come forward.

“Please help us identify the man that assaulted a bus driver on October 1, 2012 at around 9:00 p.m. He suffered from serious injuries and was knocked unconscious,” reads the description that accompanies the clip.

According to The Kansas City Star, the driver apparently tried to continue on his route after the attack, but he knocked over some orange cones and was disoriented. Bus riders then successfully convinced him to stop driving.

The video does not include audio, so there is no way of knowing exactly what was said between the driver and the individual, who police claim looks to be in his late teens. According to The Huffington Post, it appears the young man didn’t pay bus fare when he got on board; the punch was thrown while he was exiting.

Police say tips are already coming in and they are hopeful they’ll be able to find the individual responsible.
