Fascinating NYTimes Article Details Another Excuse for Obama Debate Performance and Reveals His ‘Disdain’ for Romney

“Mitt Romney personifies everything Obama hates. Romney is a rich guy. He doesn’t like violence. He doesn’t want anybody taking his stuff. All of this is precisely who Obama is,” said conservative radio talk host Rush Limbaugh earlier this month.

And as the New York Times reveals today, Limbaugh is not alone in claiming President Obama genuinely dislikes the former Massachusetts governor.

First, a little flashback. In August, Glenn Thrush’s Obama’s Last Stand: Playbook 2012 (POLITICO Inside Election 2012) included this nugget:  “[Obama] began campaign preparations feeling neutral about Romney, but like the former governor’s GOP opponents in 2008 and 2012, he quickly developed a genuine disdain for the main [sic].”

“That scorn stoked Obama’s competitive fire, got his head in the game, which came as a relief to some Obama aides who had seen his interest flag when he didn’t feel motivated to crush the opposition. Obama, a person close to him told me, didn’t even feel this strongly about conservative, combative House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, the Hill Republican he disliked the most. At least Cantor stood for something, he’d say,” Thrush adds.

Now, because Limbaugh’s assertion is based on personal observations and Thrush’s insider information is based unnamed sources, one wouldn’t be wrong to take their talk of the president’s disdain with a large grain of salt. But the problem here is that, with the New York Times now chiming in, stories alleging the president’s dislike for the GOP candidate not only persist, they grow.

First, there’s also another excuse for Obama’s dismal debate performance: mainly that because he’s the president, he has many other more important things to worry about.

“Like other presidents, Mr. Obama’s debate preparations were hindered by his day job, his practice sessions often canceled or truncated because of events, advisers said. One session took place just after he addressed a service for the four Americans slain in Libya, leaving him distracted,” the Times report claims.

Then comes the reveal.

“Mr. Obama does not like debates to begin with, aides have long said, viewing them as media-driven gamesmanship. He did not do all that well in 2008 but benefited from Senator John McCain’s grumpy performances. Mr. Obama made clear to advisers that he was not happy about debating Mr. Romney, whom he views with disdain. It was something to endure, rather than an opportunity [emphasis added],” the report adds.

Again, one wouldn’t be wrong to be skeptical of the Times’ hearsay-based claim. But the fact that both the right (i.e. Limbaugh) and the left (i.e. The New York Times) have pushed the “President Obama dislikes Romney” narrative, it certainly makes you wonder.

After running for president folks STILL don’t know what he stands for – THIS WEEK.
He has been described as CORELESS.
He stands for nothing – but being president.
He and Annie have no idea how most of us live.

Barry HATES Debates because he CAN’T Debate, He has NOTHING to say, w/o Teleprompters. Watch the TOWNHALL “DEBATE?” coming up. The hall will be filled with his acolytes, trying to divert the conversation from the ISSUES, to: Romney hates single women, Romney hates TOLERANCE, Romney ‘s a warmonger, Roney is a detached rich. Add some more. Watch, this will happen. The MSM, and the rest of the left will make sure they change the narrative!

Well, Barry, you can’t just take your basketball and go home on this one. These excuses do one thing: Enforce just how shallow Obama may actually be. Nice guilt train ticket with the “service” reference. Too much for you? Too bad, but if you wanna be POTUS (again), you damn well better be ready to sell your brand while facing down the other side.
And of course this man dislikes debate. He’s not in control. In his world, he gets to tell others what is what. A tete-a-tete negates his hokey neighbor routine. No sympathy at all.
Hey, maybe the apologists should just let us know when they’re putting the teleprompter on the ticket. We’ll still let Barry read it.
I’m praying for a swear from Obama. Lord, let it be an “F” bomb. Or maybe he’ll take a lesson from The View and stomp off. Whahhh!!!

I want a President that can stand up for himself, his record, his policies and AMERICA.  Obama did not.  I was not surprised by Obama during the debate but many were. So to those that were, which President is going to show up for work tomorrow? Obama does not attend meeting with his job council, doesn’t have department meeting, hadn’t been having his security briefings.

What I did NOT hear in the debate was what Obama is going to do with his next term and his “flexibility” He already goes around Congress so that is no deterrent. He refused to help other Democrats with their elections so that is no deterrent. What is he going to do? What plans? How does he expect to accomplish them?

Big Bird, the one example that Mitt used and he is getting excoriated for it. Media expect him to propose other examples of loophole and program cuts. Those loopholes and program cuts need to be negotiated with congress and that is what plans to do. Should Mitt show his hand like Obama did by releasing his timeline for leaving Afghanistan?

Big Bird is worth over 400M and certainly could share his wealth with the other programs. Remember 1/100 = a penny that adds up to a dollar. I believe that government has a place in starting programs like PBS but eventually they should become self reliant. Just as with green energy, we should support research but not the merchandizing of the product.

Did Mitt really lie?  3 to 1 Economics say Romney’s plan over Obama’s current is better f

If by “news source” you mean NYT, LA Times, Wash Post, CNN, NPR/PBS or MSNBC I believe you really mean”opposing viewpoint” to be polite. Those media outlets have proven themselves to be editorials pretending to be news that every now and again careen into a collision with actual journalism and forget to spin a story in Obama’s direction.

You know a person is in trouble when he re-edits his autobiography to purge unflattering associations although it seems unflattering associations are about the only kind Obama seems to have, so where does one stop when faced with that predicament? Is his grandmother still a “typical white person” and his (50%) whiteness still something to be despised and denied? Tough to know how much of yourself you can disavow.

Maybe his poor debate performance was caused by an attack of existential angst. ie “Everyone’s right, I really am a sorry sack of ****.”

You have your choice of sources, folks. The info is out there with a simple internet search. Like Glenn tells us, “do your research.”

This isn’t stuff that’s buried. It’s right there.

I’m not calling anyone names. Relax.

Weak. If it’s so easy, how about a link. Just one…c’mon, you’ve got one source right? No? That’s what I thought.

“@Konservative PUNK, are you serious? Don’t you follow this stuff? It’s not hard to find, you’re already online, do some research for crying out loud.”

That’s a lazy comment, and you know it. You just don’t like what he said, and/or it doesn’t fit your narrative of what you’ve been told about him. If you’ve “been following this stuff”, then you should already have this information available to substantiate your claims of lying. Instead you say “Go look it up”. Sorry, buddy, you made the claim. You back it up, or you’re F.O.S.

The Obama bunch has told so many lies about Romney’s policies so many times that they and the stupid and/or naive among our population have come to believe they’re true. Romney set them straight during the debate, so now they claim he’s lying because he’s disputing the false claims they believe to be the truth.

I thought that the ‘K’ in ‘Konservative’ was enough of a disguise…like a Groucho mask.
Obama does not have supporters, but followers. He spews lies and they follow suit. Who needs facts when you have zingers like “Romney’s plan is NEVERMIND.”?
Brilliant. I wonder if that was John Kerry’s idea of how to get revenge for the ‘flip-flop’ chant he endured in 2004.

Fine, for those of you who don’t know how to use the internet, this example comes to you from The Christian Science Monitor…hardly a “lib” source:

Presidential debate 101: Did Obama really double the deficit?

During the arithmetical dodge ball that constituted much of the first debate, Mitt Romney said the US deficit ‘doubled’ under Obama. In fact, it has declined, though it is still more than $1 trillion.

The problem your having there balls, and you will continue to have through out your life, is you inability to understand the difference between knowledge and wisdom. Doesn’t matter how much you intellects research and doesn’t matter how much knowledge you attain and retain, you will never understand it is worthless unless it holds up in reality. Just like any scientific experiment, there are multiple unknown variable that affect everything. Only those who have real world wisdom, can understand this, knowing that while statistics and data may reflect a 5 trillion dollar tax, you have to understand knowledge, or data, or studies, never reflect possibilities or results from chance. IN this case, the 5 trillion so called tax is offset by revenues created from the expanding economy do to premier economic conditions Romney knows works because he has worked in the real world. He realizes, all the statistics of the Clinton era have a confounded variable called the dot.com bubble. That was a chance event, or, if you like, an economic anomaly. It wasn’t a result of great policy, nor did Clinton have a balanced budget because of his amazing abilities to determine these policies, but happened despite his heavy tax burden , and in favor of his ignorance towards regulation and free markets. Which ultimately lead to the housing bubble collapse of 2007 . Check, PBS, front line, “The Warning”… Academia has failed America and destroyed our freedom and liberties in the process.

Thanks for finally coughing up something Cockenballs…
I went to the CBO (Congressional BUdget Office) website and found that the deficit in Bush’s last year in office (2008) was $458 billion. That was also the highest deficit year during Bush’s 8 year term in office. During Obama’s term, from 2009 to 2012, each year has seen deficits over one trillion dollars. So, yeah, Romney was telling the truth again.

Any other ‘lies’ you want to claim?

@Konservative PUNK. regardless, Romney said “the deficit,” not “Bush’s numbers.” The deficit has actually GONE DOWN a bit, and this is accepted as fact by conservative and liberal analysts alike.

But you’re missing the point. Obama lied too, yes. The fact that no one here is willing to look critically at the candidates is what’s sad. Giving a candidate a pass on truth is deplorable regardless of your political persuasion.

What ever happened to “holding their feet to the fire?” Just another commercial jingle for the talking heads, I guess.

The only name I called you was the first four letters of your name, which was blocked by the site.
I think it is pretty plain for everyone to see who did their homework here and who is a ‘consumer’ of fast and loose facts. The Christian Science Monitor is NOT a reliable news source. The non-partisan CBO is. In the future, I hope you will heed your own advice (as well as Glenn’s) and do YOUR OWN homework instead of copying lies from partisan news sites.

      Once again:
      Bush’s 2001 Surplus = $128 Billion
      Bush’s 2002 Deficit = $157 Billion
      Bush’s 2003 Deficit = $377 Billion
      Bush’s 2004 Deficit = $412 Billion
      Bush’s 2005 Deficit = $318 Billion
      Bush’s 2006 Deficit = $248 Billion
      Bush’s 2007 Deficit = $160 Billion
      Bush’s 2008 Deficit = $458 Billion

      Obama’s 2009 Deficit = $1.41 Trillion
      Obama’s 20010 Deficit = $1.29 Trillion

These are what facts look like.

Candidates from both parties use the CBO numbers. Apparently the Christian Science Monitor does not. The CBO is the ONLY game in town, if you don’t trust them, you cannot trust anybody else, because everyone uses their numbers, except of course for the Christian Science Monitor.

      Arithmentic.
It’s not Bush’s Deficit or Obama’s Deficit, it’s America’s deficit. Bush just happened to be the president before Obama took office. You may be confusing the annual deficit with the national debt. The national debt was $10 Trillion when Obama took office and is now $16 Trillion.

Don’t change the subject. NAME A LIE THAT ROMNEY SAID DURING THE DEBATE.
It’s that simple. You leveled the charge, now back it up or admit that he did not lie. The next time you come expcting to find sheep that roll over in the face of a wolf, check your facts my friend. You might just find that they call us ‘right’ for a reason.

@Konservative PUNK, fair enough dude. My bad, I thought I was giving you a conservative source. So the CBO’s word is bond? Got it. I will use CBO studies, numbers, and projections then. It’s just that every time the CBO is referenced here, the natives get all up in arms about it.

      Moving on…

Romney said ““right now, the CBO says up to 20 million people will lose their insurance as Obamacare goes into effect next year.†The Affordable Care Act would actually expand health care to 30 million. The CBO director says that about 3 million would ditch employer coverage due to the law.

Oh my god, it’s like a little kid who got his butt kicked and now he’s going around telling everybody he won even though 70 million people saw him lose! Why didn’t he say they were lies then? Because he can’t fight face to face, he has to do it behind their backs.
