Wayne Allyn Root, the 2008 Libertarian Party’s vice-presidential nominee, is an outspoken political commentator. The politico, who recently announced that he’s rejoining the Republican Party and supporting Mitt Romney for president, also has a new purported role: An active member of President Barack Obama’s enemies list. Root is now alleging that the president is targeting him and using the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to do it.

The problems started in January 2011, when Root, who claims to have a perfect tax record, was put through a surprise audit. At the time, he claims to have received a call from an IRS agent who said that he is a fan of Root and that it would be “an honor” to audit him — sentiments that struck the commentator as odd. The agent also told Root that he has read his political columns, listened to him on radio and visited his web site, and that he agrees with his politics.

“I found that very strange, actually chilling. It did not feel right. I got a sick feeling in pit of my stomach,” Root told WND in a recent interview. “Why would an IRS agent say such personal things? Why would he disclose that he’s a fan of mine and agrees with my politics? Isn’t that a conflict of interest?”

Three months ago, the ordeal came to a close, with a tax court finding that Root owed no monies in his past filings. But just when he assumed that the situation had been resolved, something bizarre happened: Root, who was previously seeing his 2007 and 2008 filings under audit, was hit with a new IRS investigation just five days after the last one. In the new audit, the IRS began exploring his 2009 and 2010 filings. The closeness of the two audits is something that Root’s lawyer claims to have never seen or heard of before.

Root, of course, sees this as nothing short of a plotted attempt to silence him. After all, he has been an anti-Obama crusader for years. In August, you may recall his now infamous allegations about the president’s student records — claims that were widely viewed across the media world and blogosphere. In his commentary, he called on Obama to release his college records and contended that the president was hiding something that his Columbia documentation would expose.

As for the audit, Root is certain it was politically-motivated, seeing as he has made thousands of media appearances during which he has decried the president and his policies.

“That order had to come from the highest levels of government,” Root proclaimed. ”Obama is using the power of the IRS and other government agencies to punish his political opposition and intimidate and silence his critics.”

And Root isn’t taking the alleged political persecution sitting down. He’s calling for Congress to investigate to ensure that the Obama administration is operating within its bounds. Citing his wife and four children, he lamented what he sees as a top-down, government-led “witch hunt.”

“It is time to demand an end to government witch hunts ordered by powerful politicians,” he said of the situation. “It is time to shine the light of day on government attempts to intimidate and silence political opponents. This just isn’t right, but especially to a small businessman who happens to have a media megaphone.”

As for his tax history, Root claimed that, in thirty years of filings, he had never had a problem. Prior to the 2011 audit, he was selected at random two other times and was found to owe “not a single dollar.”

“I’ve never been late with a tax bill in my life,” he told WND. “I’ve never owed money on a payment plan to the IRS. Nothing. I’m a model citizen and taxpayer for 30 years. And now this?”

What was even more odd about the entire ordeal was the way in which Root was informed about the audit. Rather than receiving a letter — the means through which his accountant claims audits are typically commenced — Root received the aforementioned cryptic phone call. The politician claims that his fears were recognized, as the “agent clearly had an agenda” and “was acting unreasonably.”

Root said every conversation with the agent was increasingly disconcerting and problematic. From his mortgage deduction to legal deductions, the agent challenged portion after portion of his tax record during the 18-month ordeal. Then, Root claims his accountant was flagged for his own IRS investigation.

After getting a tax attorney to review his case, Root said that he was found to owe no taxes and that the tactics being used by the IRS were “unusually aggressive.” The attorney appealed Root’s case to IRS tax court in California and Root inevitably won. However, the commentator claims that the experience may have cut years off of his life and that it led to sleepless nights, bills he couldn’t afford and damage to his marriage.

But the case didn’t close there. As noted, five days later, Root received notice that he was being audited again — this time for his 2009 and 2010 returns. Again, he claims to have received the same poor treatment and bizarre inquiries from a separate agent just days after winning his case against the IRS.

In the end, Root said he isn’t angry with the IRS, but that his frustration is pointed at the Obama administration.

“The IRS is filled with good people. They are just like you and me. They are just trying to do their jobs, as best they can,” he told WND. “My outrage is towards President Obama and his henchmen.”

I know; let’s have an ” audit ” of Obama’s protected records: birth, selective service, S.S.N., school records, income, campaign contributions, etc. Don’t forget that ObamaCare has a provision for THOUSANDS of new I.R.S.   This post is directed at the above poster….I, too, support Israel. However, your post about cleaning up our acts …We don’t go to hell because we sin, we go because we REJECT God’s gift of His Son Jesus’s death on the cross for the payment of our sin..It is His payment that makes us righteousness. We can’t and won’t clean up our act as we are sinful creatures. It isn’t about us it is all about HIM. I agree we need to be more righteous but that isn’t going to totally spare our country. There has to be faith in the one who gives us the power to do it first.

  @fancydancy: Mmmmm, I never said a word about Hell. What I said is that we, as Americans NEED TO ASK GOD TO INTERVENE! I do know that Jesus Christ is the intermediary to God and is the ONLY way to God. Most Americans KNOW THIS. And, if they don’t, then because of the rest of us (praying for others and our nation), God will intervene anyways AND he will send his HS to convict those who don’t know that want to know. And, those who don’t care or those who don’t believe, well, that is very very sad for them because they don’t know what they are missing. GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD. I just cannot tell you how much joy he has given me, even though this country is going thru turmoil right now. PURE JOY. It just saddens me that more Americans are more concerned about STUFF and LUST then the pure joy and love that God provides to those who serve and honor Him.
  
  So, if you misunderstood my post, then maybe this cleared it up.
  
  Those who are outside of America and reading this, JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONLY WAY TO GOD. WHAT HAVE YOU GO TO LOSE? Just ask the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to SHOW YOU THE TRUTH and HE WILL AND THEN YOU WILL BE SET FREE to worship Him. And no matter what you go through, HE WILL BE THERE FOR YOU.   @fancydancy: BTW: God WILL honor those who believe in Him, yet are not saved. That does NOT mean they will be saved, it just means if you are humble enough to pray to Him, HE will show you the next step – JESUS CHRIST. God knows each heart and if it is a humble one, as mine was many years ago when I did not know who Jesus was, I asked God to show me what to do and it was no coincidence that I was introduced to Jesus Christ the very next day, when I didn’t even know who he was.
  
  So, don’t tell me that God won’t listen to the praying when they ask for His help. He will just introduce you to His Son in one way or another.

  Even your worst fears will only be compounded if you know your history of Germany. Did you know we all ready have a Czar equal to German Nazi Party member Joseph Goebbels became Adolf Hitler’s propaganda minister in 1933, which gave him power over all German radio, press, cinema, and theater. Obama recently appointed Mark Lloyd as the Chief Diversity Officer to the FCC. We have never before had a diversity czar at the FCC. The goal is ostensibly to make sure that on radio there is a broad diversity of opinion. There is no such diversity in TV and newspapers. Diversity in the Obooma Administration is shut up everybody’s opinion but mine. In Germany Hitler chose Rudolph Hess to be in charge of finance which meant to persuade or coerce wealthy business’s people into supporting the Nazi party.

  I had a neighbor who was very active in State-level Republican politics as a Campaign Manager and Advisor. He eventually got out of the business. When I asked him why, he claimed that he “…was tired of getting audited every time [his] candidate lost…”

Our country as many of us have known it will be gone as the Obama Administration is definitely TRANSFORMING this country to THEIR hearts desire….not to principles that we were founded on. I don’t know why they don’t move to Venezuela, Russia, Iran where they would fit in perfectly!! Again, I say only when these people are digging food out of garbage cans and sleeping on the streets with other homeless folks, will they every understand what we are trying to tell them now.   This should NOT be a surprise. For instance, if there were an actual issue with Romney’s tax returns – either the Obama Admin and the IRS would have revealed it already or they are about to in a last minute “Oct. surprise” in attempt to win re-election since his record alone won’t do it.
  
  Why do you think Hillary Clinton had over 900+ FBI files in the White House for several years? It revealed the info that could be used to “persuade” anyone in their way to “support” their policies.
  It was reported by a “very close female friend” of President Clinton’s in broadcast inteview with radio host Mancow that the administration had several “tools” to persuade their opponents to their point of view:
  *Regulatory / FCC to coerce broadcast radio stations to censor their programming, i.e. conservative talk radio taking an opposing (or too revealing view?), or risk losing their license
  *Regulatory / EPA to coerce businesses
  *IRS to perform audits if FEC / EPA failed
  *Chicago / Dixie Mafia enforcers persuade if all above fail
  This is why the close personal friend of Bill Clinton stated in on air interview with Mancow that she needed to stay extremely visible in the public in order to stay alive…

The radical left took him under their wicked wing and put him through the world’s most comprehensive Alinsky training at Columbia and Harvard. The project has been a complete success up until now. But I believe the American people as a whole are not that stupid. Don’t get me wrong, I’m certain there are hordes of buffoons running around hooping and hollering, believing everything they see and hear in the mainstream media, but I hope and pray enough of us are awake to put an end to this depraved bunch of criminals’ run of the roost. If we can fire Reid as the majority leader of the senate, fire O for sure, and put an end to business as usual in Washington, then maybe we can put these criminals BHO, Holder and Bernanke in prison where they all belong.

You can always tell how accurate articles are against the Obama regime by how the resident liberal trolls react. If it is true, but anecdotal, they show up and mock, fling feces, cast aspersions, make counter accusations (all Saul Alinksy). When it is absolutely indefensible (the Stacey Mash article, the death threats on Romney), they’re predictably silent. You can always tell what the Left is guilty of by noting what they accuse the Right of.

  I called Harry Reid’s office back in 2008, when he was talking on the Senate floor about the surge being a failed policy, that the war in Iraq was lost, pointing out that he is bordering on Treason.
  
  Two days later, I got an audit, random one they said. A buddy of mine called and complained as well, guess what happened to him? He got an audit.
  
  Conspiracy? Dunno, the odds are getting pretty low.
  
  Oh, and the audit? They said I couldn’t claim the loss on something, that the IRS told me I could, over the phone, nice huh?

No surprise there, Obama is a criminal thug who feels he can do as he pleases via coersion and threat to his ‘enemies’ real or not. How soon until people begin to simply ‘disappear’ on his orders, assuming they have not done so already.

When Obama loses in November – expect the worst to happen, including a chance he will go for broke and seize absolute power, or conduct a economic scorched earth to collapse the nation in its entirety – Obama will rule all or destroy all; there is no inbetween for him.

Glenn has said there are 30 million (as I recall) Christians who are not registered to vote. What’s with that? How do we get couch potatoes to stand up? How do we get people to see that our freedoms are going fast?

  I believe the reason Obama doesn’t want to release his college records
  is because it may show he registered under Barry Soetoro. Many people would
  question why the name change and whether Obama became a Muslim as he claims
  he is not. However, this may explain why Barry Soetoro became Barack Hussein
  Obama Just as Cassius Clay became Muhammad Ali after becoming a Muslim.
