QVC Shopping Network Anchor Passes Out During Live Broadcast, Co-Host Continues With Sales Pitch

QVC shopping network guest host Cassie Slane gave viewers a scare yesterday when she fainted during a live broadcast of “Sundays with Carolyn & Dan.”

But that’s not the story.

The story is that even after clutching at her chest and slumping over, co-host Dan Hughes continues undeterred with the sales pitch:

Thankfully, as Gawker’s Neetzan Zimmerman notes, Slane is doing “fine” and she even posted to her Facebook that she is “feeling alot [sic] better today.”

Moreover, a statement from QVC VP Paul Capelli assures us that all is well: “During a live presentation on Sunday, October 7, QVC on-air guest Cassie Slane had a brief fainting spell. We are pleased to report that she is feeling fine now.”

Puts a bitter taste in one’s mouth in regard to QVC. Stupid, selfish man to continue on as he did. He most certainly should have STOPPED selling and helped the woman. Why in the heck have we humans stopped being humane?!!

People are so disgusting anymore. Like this jackhole. He just keeps on doing the sales pitch even as she’s lying on the ground. Her life doesn’t matter that much anyway. Selling that piece of crap is much more important. I really don’t see any difference between pagans in ancient Rome and modern day people

She started trying weakly to hit her chest like she was trying to restart her heart. Weird….but kind of makes sense. ‘More blood…pump more blood”.

I’m glad she’s OK. That said, these incidents are funny. Remember the newswoman who just lost it and spoke gibberish before they cut the feed off? Freaky, but I have a sick sense of humor. I laughed until I cried.

It’s easy to say what should have been done–but somethings happen before your brain can process it all–Glenn Beck didn’t really handle it as well as he could have on his tv show at Fox the time that guy collapsed, and he seems like a genuine, caring man. (When he’s not making fun of people on his radio show-sophmoric at times.) I still love and have a great deal of respect for his knowledge. We are all human-sad but true–with shortcomings and sin.

      @RWCT,

Yep, he just kept on talking. Part of the problem is that we are told from birth to “take care” and never to “give care”. It’s always take, take, take.

I spent 3 vacations (2 weeks each) working with Mother Teresa’s Sisters…. Boy did I ever learn to “give care!”

Fran Frachilla got fired as the St. Johns hoops coach for imitating the scene at practice.

BTW- Mother Theresa Sisters? Cool shart. i’m guessing this was after 1997 because you don’t mention meeting the lovely Miss Bojaxhiu, herself.

When there’s an interruption on these types of shows, they usually cut to a still-shot of a product and play music.
I can’t believe they continued selling live, while she was passing out. Someone was asleep at the switch.

NO. NOT AT ALL! HEcontinued because he cared not for her, but about the SALE! Sad . Explanations aftrward to minimize it/justify his BEHAVIOUR make it even worse. NO compassion/ caring. THESE come out, or the lack of them, under duress. Poor fool!

Is human compassion dead? Does it have to be all about “stuff” anymore? This TV hawker needs a wakeup call – maybe one day when he clutches his chest and looks to someone for help. Yesh.

It is not like they can cut to commercial. And by the time they go the graphic stage hands have already rushed to her side and over dead air or a live mic picking up whatever, do what you have to do and continue until the normal break.

I am more worried about someone who was watching QVC saw something odd and go back and tape it on a cell phone, then upload it to YouTube.

I give Hughes credit, as well as QVC personnel. It only took seconds for them to cut from live shot when it was obvious the presenter was “going down” and rather than go in to “omg; omg” mode, which would have freaked out the audience as well as the guest host…….he followed his instincts and kept going thru the presentation. Keeping calm in the middle of a crisis isn’t an easy thing to do. As an EMT, I can tell you that Dan remaining calm was huge for the gal that was in trouble – HUGE! He did the best thing he could and obviously she got the medical attention she needed ASAP and is now doing fine. Good job, Dan!!!
