‘Real News:’ Obama Campaign Attempts to Put Focus on Romney’s Abortion Stance
A week following President Obama’s disastrous performance in the domestic policy debate, the Obama campaign tried to pivot the national discussion to the notoriously polarizing wedge issue of abortion Wednesday. During a morning conference call with reporters, Obama’s deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter brought on Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards to discuss Romney’s stance on abortion which they characterized as cynical and dishonest. The New York Times reports:
βGovernor Romney has been dishonest about his plans on issue after issue. Romneyβs dishonesty on abortion is just one example,β Ms. Cutter said, noting that a spokeswoman for Mr. Romney quickly reiterated his anti-abortion credentials.
βWeβre saying heβs trying to cover up his beliefs,β Ms. Cutter said. βThey know that his anti-choice position, his anti-Roe v. Wade position, is bad for his campaign.β
Romney confused some when he told the Des Moines Register Tuesday that “there’s no legislation with regards to abortion that I’m familiar with that would become part of my agenda.”
The Romney campaign has since clarified that “Romney would of course support legislation aimed at providing greater protections for life.”
On ‘Real News’ Wednesday the panel discussed whether Romney’s position on abortion needs clarification and if the renewed focus on the issue by the Obama campaign is a sign of desperation:
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isnβt really about controlling guns at all; itβs about controlling us. Posted on October 10, 2012 at 11:02pmRomney flips and flops on alot of issues which is why I have little respect for him. TOTUS on the other hand is an abject liar on everything that comes from his mouth, except when he said he wants to fundamentally change America. He spoke the truth then. From that time forward you can see why he has done what he has. Can’t say he did not warn us. The sheeple just did not listen.

Frankly, I could care less who “wins” a debate. What I SEE/HEAR/KNOW is that Obama can’t hold his own FACE TO FACE when his distortions are put upon him flat on a plate.

Posted on October 10, 2012 at 10:36pmThe hilarious thing is that the left still thinks Romney is pro-life. The reality is that Romney is reverting to his historical position, which is pro-choice. Democrats tried to paint Romney as some extreme right-winger – that was a big mistake
βI believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country. I have since the time that my mom took that position when she ran in 1970, as a US senate candidate. I believe that since Roe v Wade has been the law for 20 years, that we should sustain and support it. And I sustain and support that law, and the right of a woman to make that choice.β
-Mitt Romney (October 25, 1994)
I will preserve and protect a woman’s right to choose, and I am devoted and dedicated to honoring my word in that regard.”

Mitt Romney “There’s no legislation with regards to abortion that I’m familiar with that would become part of my agenda,” October 10. 2012
What part of being pro life shouldn’t be part of his agenda. Romney is spineless. Take a stand and people will back you Mitt. This is what we have warned you people about. Romney if he wins, will move left. He is already doing it.

Interviewer
Q: Why such a dramatic and profound change after pledging never to waiver on a womanβs right to choose?
Romney
A: I was always personally opposed to abortion, as I think almost everyone in this nation is. And the question for me was, what is the role of government? And it was quite theoretical and philosophical to consider what the role of government should be in this regard, and I felt that the Supreme Court had spoken and that government shouldnβt be involved and let people make their own decision. That all made a lot of sense to me. Then I became governor and the theoretical became reality. A bill came to my desk which related to the preservation of life. I recognized that I simply could not be part of an effort that would cause the destruction of human lift. And I didnβt hide from that change of heart. I recognize itβs a change. Every piece of legislation which came to my desk in the coming years as the governor, I came down on the side of preserving the sanctity of life.

Did you even read the article in the link you posted? Or just drink the kool-aid?
Romney campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul told the Associated Press on Tuesday that Romney is “proudly pro-life and will be a pro-life president.” She also said Romney would “support legislation aimed at providing greater protections for life.”
He did say he would use an executive order to reinstate a ban on using U.S. dollars to pay for abortions overseas.
The Obama campaign noted that Romney has said he would appoint Supreme Court justices who would “hopefully” overturn Roe v. Wade.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, which opposes abortion rights, told USA TODAY that the organization is “confident” Romney will keep promises made to conservatives on this issue.
“We have full confidence that as president, Gov. Romney will stand by the pro-life commitments he laid out in National Review in June 2011,” Dannenfelser said in a statement. She said these promises include “his pledge to prohibit federal funding for Planned Parenthood and other organizations that perform and promote abortion, as well as advocate for a bill to promote unborn children capable of feeling pain.”

Yeah I read a “pro life” president will not push the pro life issue. There is legislation ready to become part of a “pro life” president’s agenda. Maybe like that bill Sanctity of Life Act. He could support it and actually stand for something. I guess pandering to the left is his style.
