Rev. Jesse Jackson: I’m ‘Not Convinced’ That ‘Homosexuality Is Wrong’ Since Kings Solomon & David ‘Had Many Wives’

TheBlaze’s Benny Johnson contributed to this report.

On Tuesday evening, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, singer Monifah and community advocate A.R. Bernard joined BET’s T.J. Holmes to discuss homosexuality, voter suppression and other social and political issues on the latest episode of “Sleep Talkers.”

Perhaps the most controversial — and debated — subject covered on the episode was gay marriage, with some of the panelists disagreeing over how the issue should be handled within religious communities. Jackson explained that he believes “marriages are protected by one’s own choice.” In his view, gay matrimony is both a moral and a legal issue.

“People have the right to live with the people with whom they choose to be faithful,” he explained.

Jesse Jackson Says Hes Not Convinced Gay Marriage Is Wrong

Of particular note, though, was a separate response that Jackson gave about homosexuality as a societal norm. Holmes pointed out that the central tenets of the Christian faith point out that “homosexuality is wrong.” The host then asked if Jackson agrees with this sentiment.

“I’m not all-together convinced of that,” the civil rights leader responded, going on to claim that marriage has “blurred” definitions. “King Solomon had many wives in that culture. Then David had many wives of that culture. The Muslims today have three or four wives of that culture.”

Rather than focusing upon a defense of traditional marriage as a central component of the faith, Jackson said he sticks to the “moral imperatives” that Jesus described in the Bible.

“All I really know is —  Jesus said that ‘I was hungry and you fed me,’ ‘I was naked and you clothed me,’” he explained. “I stay as closely as I can to the moral imperatives as he described them as what’s really important.”

Never answer a question directly, deflect it with gibberish so no one can nail you to a definitive thought. Have you ever heard Obama say that Jerusalem IS the capital of Israel? No, and the media will not ask, to answer will lose votes either way.

When was the last time The Reverend Jesse Jackson read his bible. Solomon may not be one that makes it to heaven. God punished both him and David for the multiple wifes. Solomon per the scripture made idols and worshiped idols due to these mutliple wives. No where doe it say God supported Multiple wives. It does say he was angered by Solomon and took the kingdom away once he died thru his children. David at least repented his sins against the Lord. They clearly were not the same people in the eye of the Lord. Hey Jesse , God really did say man on man or woman on woman was an abomintation to him. What does that mean to you? He is just a democratic liberal that capitalizes on racism and without that he would not get any press at all. However, I will pray for Jesse and let God judge him. I do not judge but have scripture backing what I say.

The church has failed miserably to properly teach what Jesus has done .Jesus has paid the entire sin debt and has taken all the punishment for all sin. Just one drop of his blood was sufficent.how he so utterly paid the cost to purchase our pardon. That is only to those that receive him as LORD. To those that believe GOD raised Jesus from the dead.in the old testament GODS treatment of mostly the Jews was in proportion to how well the law was followed. The law was never meant to justify anyone and coulden unless kept perfectly. Thank you Jesus! The law is removed except for pointing out sin. We also have the Holy spirit which they did not have in the old testament.the animal sacrifices only put. The payment and punishment for sin on hold until the promise (Jesus) had come.

Jessie is listening to Martin Luther “”Do not ask anything of your conscience; and if it speaks, do not listen to it; if it insists, stifle it, amuse yourself; if necessary, commit some good big sin, in order to drive it away. Conscience is the voice of Satan, and it is necessary always to do just the contrary of what Satan wishes.” Repent and walk with Jesus Christ, otherwise you too will be cut off and thrown into the fire. Peace in Christ.

No wonder non-believers call Church-Goers “Hypocrites”. It seems some Christians can’t even agree on what’s a sin. Will Jackson someday rationalize and make it okay to murder, stealing, and rape? Now I know what’s wrong with Jesse Jackson…he can’t understand what he reads.

Regarding King Solomon and King David…there’s this little thing called “Forgiveness of sins”. We cannot know the minds of these Kings…only God knows. That’s why we cannot judge, accurately. But if you KEEP practicing what the Lord tells you NOT to do…your salvation may be in jeopardy.

Personally, I don’t give a darn what Homosexuals do. It’s their business…between them and God. Doesn’t hurt me a bit. But it says in the Bible that it’s a sin. If you don’t believe in a God and the Bible, then I suppose it’s not a sin to the homosexual (or other sins). But if there really is a God and the Holy Bible is really true (which I believe) and the unbelievers are wrong…eternity is a very very long time to suffer.

Jesse Jackson serves only one god, the god of this earth & not the Creator God! He Serves two masters, Obama as his master & Satan as a god!
This man is pure evil, His Doctrines are Pure, Greed, Lust of the flesh & Hate!
What is strange or not is that both Obama & his slave, J.J. always refer to the Old Testament< Trying to bypass The Sacrifices of The ONE TRUE GOD, JESUS, And All that he did to Save these dishonorable Men! WHY???, Because that is what COWARDS DO!

@SREGN, I believe you’ve hit the nail on the head.

The first thing done to pave this path for BO’s outing was Biden suddenly coming out and saying he’s “absolutely comfortable” by supporting gay marriage, which made it easier for BO to take that same step by declaring his “evolving” and newly supported stance on the legality of gay marriage.

I give it 5 days from now that he’ll be “Outed”

I have a question–why does anyone care what this guy says about anything? He would like to think he walked in the shadow of the great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and had the same values. The truth is even though he believes himself to be an extension of the movement started by Dr. King he is not worthy to tie his shoes. Had Dr. King survived would no longer be associated with this sycophant! Having said that what in the world does multiple marriages have to do with homosexuality? Dr. King would not approve!

Exactly Ducky657…..who cares one iota what comes from Jesse Jackson’s pie hole? Has anyone ever figured out exactly why Jesse Jackson is so successful in having American hostages released from countries run by Dictators or Mullahs? Well perhaps it’s because he can inhale a golf ball through a half inch garden hose. And isn’t it odd that for every pound that Al Sharpton loses…Jesse Jackson gains 2….proving once again that Sharpton tastes great and is less filling. These poverty pimps and race baiting goons are so lame and tired that nobody really cares any more…..even black folks are tired of all the nonsense. I will be so glad to have this country’s mindset and National administration in Washington D.C. purged of this insane progressive liberal infection. Nobody cares if you are gay….just shut up about it already…it’s a boring topic…it’s a lifestyle that is no good in the end. I know of no perennially delightfully happy gay men…..the drama of the lifestyle itself is not conducive to anything but stress and of course the never ending desire to do the same thing that Jesse Jackson does to get the hostages released. It’s all a ruse and a lie….anything that comes from Jesse Jackson’s mouth….came from some other man’s southern region first. Yeah I said it.

Definitely – that’s what I was asking myself when I read this? What’s one got to do with the other? The bottom line is that homosexuality is clearly spoken against in the Bible. Also, as a friend pointed out to me tonight, making a law allowing same-sex marriage would open the gate for any 2 individuals to “marry.” Men & boys, incestuous family members, adults with children (wouldn’t Islam support THAT!) , just to name a few. Also, this would be the end of free speech and freedom of religion as we know it. Christian pastors who oppose it on Biblical grounds would be forced to perform these “marriages” or be sued (or worse), business owners (like the bakery which was called to make a “wedding cake” for a same sex couple and refused was taken to court), and no one would be able to say a word in defense of Biblical marriage! We’ve sunk far enough already; This needs to STOP!

The reason you’re not convinced is because you’re a relic of the civil rights movement and it has passed you by. You’re losing power and credibility, and your time has come and gone.

I think what Jesse is trying to say is bad behaviour justifies other bad behavior. Coming from Jesse, I can understand his thinking. He justified having a love child with a woman other than his wife while passing himself off as a reverend. He’s been justifying lying and stealing for years. He obviously thinks there’s nothing wrong with homosexual sex, especially if it gets him a few allies from gay activisits, in order to justify his bad behaviour from a highly respected group. It’s kinda the ‘I’ll scratch your back if you’ll scratch mine’. It’s especially effective in gaining gay trust and support when alluding to having it done in a gay bath house. I think Jesse may be setting the stage for some new revelations that are about to surface.

@Darmok: Astounding. You’ve named yourself after something from a Star Trek episode that is entirely about analogies, metaphors and parables, and yet you can’t see one when it’s staring you in the face. Jackson isn’t saying polygamy makes you gay (duh), he’s saying that since marriage has changed before, it can change again—that the idea of marriage being between one man and one woman isn’t even in supported by the bible, so the idea that its form is written in stone isn’t even in scripture. Was that so hard to understand? By the way—Gene Roddenberry’s future won’t include dinosaurs like you. Sorry. No room for your species on the space ark.
