‘Completely Wrong’ Search in Google Returns Romney Pics — But What Happens With ‘One-Term Proposition’?

Google Image Search Results for Completely Wrong Return Photos of Mitt Romney

Google is well known for its technological Easter eggs (“do a barrel roll,” anyone?) but one quirk can’t have the Romney campaign smiling.

A Google image search for the phrase “completely wrong” turns up a page full of photos of the Republican presidential nominee, apparently stemming from his comment last week disavowing his “47 percent” remark.

“Clearly in a campaign, with hundreds if not thousands of speeches and question-and-answer sessions, now and then you‘re going to say something that doesn’t come out right,” Romney told Fox News’ Sean Hannity. “In this case, I said something that’s just completely wrong.”

A Google spokesman told CNN and Slate the photos were an unintentional result of normal Google search terms and not a “Google bomb.” The Romney campaign declined to comment.

As PC Mag noted, former President George W. Bush was the victim of a Google bomb in 2004 when his biography page turned up under a search for “miserable failure.”

For what it’s worth, an image search for the phrase “one-term proposition” returns photos of President Barack Obama, referring to his famous declaration if the economy didn’t turn around.

The things Google does for attention…

I remember back in the day when Google was actually safe and worth using, not so much today.

It’s a shame that they couldn’t live up to their company motto:

    “Don’t be evil.”

I am not sure sure of exactly what you mean but you can try this; use your search option on your computer and search for “Google”. You should be able to delete all of the files that pop up under the search. When deleting files always use caution, but with the average Google file(s) you should be fine. If you know how, create a restore point so if need be you can always roll back your system to the moment before you deleted any files. Also open your Internet browser i.e. Internet Explorer – Mozilla Top left click Tools – Options and make sure you homepage is set to the exact web address you wish, no redirects. If neither work download Mal-ware and anti spyware software and run an in-depth scan. C-net aka Download.com offers free and safe software. Hope that helps. :D

      @CHIPS1

Well then you are going to want to not take Google-Expert’s advice because he is confused.

      1) Deleting things with the title “Google” will do nothing. If you want to uninstall Chrome then you need to UNINSTALL it.
      2) Restore points don’t restore files.
      3) Google doesn’t track you with stuff on your computer, they track you with the messages you send on the internet. If you want to become invisible you need to spoof your IP
      4) Google has nothing to do with what Bing is displaying to you.

      The more ya know.

I hope you realize every time you search on google they are recording it in their database and charging you a sur-tax on it. That’s how Obama is going to pay for his Socialist medicine, through conservative victims who used Google unknowingly. Not to mention, they now know your name, where you live, how much money you make, and how many kids you have. If you have sons they’ll sell them into slavery and if you have daughters they’ll rape them and turn them into hippy liberals.

How do I know all this? The Bible told me. You can’t argue with Jesus – he’s always right. Science proved it.

Just checked with ixquick, found oblama’s story very easily. You might want to use it: it does not track usage (unlike google).

Quincy is correct! Ixquick is also known as “startpage” (www.startpage.com) . Set it as your homepage, then go to settings to conform it to your needs.

Either don’t google OR block all cookies and get something like ghostery to block ad tracking, widgets, etc. Use google “advanced search” let’s you specify “all these words” “this exact word or phrase” “any of these words” etc which can be accomplished on the regular search with boolean expressions but who wants to mess with all that. The issue is the “free” model doesn’t work on the internet any better than it does in the real world. Therefore sites, including the Blaze, attempt to collect some revenue from advertisers which try to recoup some of their expenses through ad tracking and data mining which I’d consider fairly useless information but apparently are fruitful to them when used on the so called “mindless masses.” We must be mindful in nearly everything we do or we become exactly that.

I don’t use Goodle because you can count on a bazillion e-mails coming your way. Don’t use Sting (BING) because it is annoying. Don’t use As^ (ASK) because it returns ridiculous stuff. I use Norton because I know my stuff is safe and it is reliable! I find it interesting that Goodle has no problem giving in to the Chicoms but we can’t depend on them for simple stuff like ‘one term proposition’.

BUKOWSKI72, in the words of Colonel Sherman Potter, “horse hockey.” I just cut and pasted “gay president” from you post, and as I went into images, 0bama was in about 99.5% of the pics.

RJJINGADSDEN this is why liberals win. So many on the right have absolutely no concept of sarcasm or facetiousness. It’s no coincidence that so many comedians and comedic shows lean left; employing humor is deadly effective in convincing people to subscribe to your (often incorrect) views. Lighten up, sheesh.
