Krauthammer Nails the Outcome of the VP Debate in One Simple Statement
Immediately after the vice presidential debate on Thursday night, Fox News political analyst Charles Krauthammer skewered Vice President Joe Biden for being “disrespectful” to Republican Paul Ryan throughout the night with his incessant smirking and interrupting.
Krauthammer was able to sum up the debate with one simple statement:
“If you read the transcript, I think it’s dead even. If you heard it on radio, Biden won. If you watched it on television, he lost.”
“In the transcript, if you just look at the raw arguments, I think it was even because each side had points to make, it made them. I think on balance, not one side was stronger than the other,” Krauthammer explained.
If you heard it on radio, he said Biden would have sounded “aggressive, forceful – he was sort of on the attack all the time.” He said Ryan reacted with “excessive deference” and allowed himself to be cut off.
On Biden’s performance on television, Krauthammer said the vice president was “so disrespectful.”
“It was sort of almost unprecedented and hugely condescending. I think that undid the force of his arguments,” he added.

Posted on October 12, 2012 at 1:06amThe “moderator” was useless. I think Ryan was a bit stunned by Biden’s snarkey attitude. When he figured out the “moderator” wasn’t going to intervene, he did it himself. She had no control in the first half hour, and only a marginal amount there after. Did anybody else notice when she asked about negative campaigning, she stared at Ryan throughout the question then shifted her gaze to Biden to tell him he was first to answer? That was weird.

You acted like a high school bully, whose only job was to “mock”. I am starting to believe you practiced your mocking abilities, not your ability to debate. Ryan handled himself better than most could have or would have in the face of a disrespectful, condescending bully. I hope that when faced with opposition, I can only handle myself as well as Ryan did. See- Mr. Obama said he was “too polite.” That was the clue to Mr. Biden’s remarks and gestures tonight. Well, Mr. Biden will never have to say, “I was too polite.” Ryan= Statesman. Biden= very unstately.

Of course Ryan came out ahead anyway, but the perception of “leadership” in these debates seems to be tied to being able to discern when to be deferential and when to confidently ignore rude silencing tactics and insist that your voice be heard. We were doing great until the democrats took over in 2007 period. They took over, managed to turn 2 wars from victories to defeats, caused more Americans to die in 3.5 years than died under Bush in 8, caused 10x the number of civilians to be killed in 3.5 years as died under Bush in 8. Halved the average wealth of the poor and middle class, raised spending, screwed employment, sent millions of jobs to foreign countries, allowed millions of illegals come in to take the few remaining US jobs. Allowed 4 countries, Bush had set up to collapse and over throw their dictators, only to have the plan work, and have religious fanatics take over. The economy didn’t get a single bit better until the republicans took over the house in 2011 and stopped the democrats from stabbing the middle class in the back, and removed the knife from the poor people’s neck. Yet all these messes the DEMOCRATS created are somehow Bush’s fault and you want 4 more years to rape us.

Posted on October 12, 2012 at 11:32amAs an independent, watching Joe Biden made me very nautious – very uncomfortable, to be sure. Joe can be very smooth (which causes folks to often-times not check his facts because of his oratory demeanor), but his condescension, smirking, and disrespect, completely offset anything he had to say. Joe was obviously under severe pressure to come out and dominate to offset any ground lost by the soft dictator – but I’m afraid that debates anymore are being only measured purely by style…and not substance.
I have to hand it to Ryan though – he was cool, relaxed, and very respectful – although I do wish he was more forcefull in hitting back (and even overriding Martha). But Martha Raddatz’s constant cutting off of Ryan, while allowing Biden to continue talking was shameful, but expected given her bias.
Gosh, I’m so sick of politics. I only hope that this administration is voted out of office by a sizeable margin and let’s send these bast__ds back to Chicago (and in the case of Biden, Delaware) where they belong. I was a Democrat up until 1980 (when Reagan took office), and I’ve since become an Independent (who leans very conservative ’cause I’m disappointed with both parties), but I must say that after 4 years of this administration, the lies, the cutthroat tactics, the apologizing for the US, and the social engineering (in particular, in the military), I’ve become even more conservative in my thinking.
Good riddance…..

Why anyone would have known that Libya was a different situation while other embassies were being vacated and attempts to breach them were being made by mobs-why the adminstration should or could have known right off the bat that bengashi was not about demonstrations-is ridiculous. Like Biden said when they got info they reported it as they got it and as the info changed. The fault is with the narrative of the right wing media and right wing politicians-labeling demonstrations as violence -so that when there really WAS violence[the murder of the ambassador and 3others] the narrative that the arab spring was now mass violence-was a deliberate propaganda ploy which denied reality[that violence took place in benghasi with the terrorist attack on the consulate but demonstrations and flag burnings are not acts of violence]. A case of a false narrative coming back to bite the right wing. Now they want to blame the Obama for their own false narrative. The terrorists may have been pro gadafi militias exacting revenge for our helping the rebels.

In the first segment, in one fell swoop Biden did what this administration does best–throw people under the bus to prove that they are blameless. According to Biden, the story put forth again and again and again by the WH about Libya was based on information from the Intelligence community, so if it was wrong (which he did not condescend to agree to) it is their fault. It is the Dept of State’s fault that the WH knew nothing of the increased security requests from the embassy in Libya. But there is only one poll that matters to me anyway. That’s the election. Let’s pray that biteme and his co-hort don’t win that one.

Both Romney and Ryan need to start co opting the buzz words that Obama and friends use. The case could be made that with almost everything that Obama and Biden say, the opposite is true, what they accuse others of doing, they do.

No…Biden was told to provoke Ryan anyway he can and dont’ let Ryan finish a point that’s getting traction..so he launched into the exaggerated laughing, gestures and interruptions. Ryan on the other hand was told “just hit a single” and let Romney handle the home runs.

Posted on October 12, 2012 at 9:39amOne of the most disturbing points for me in the debate last night was when Biden said we have plenty of time with Iran because they don’t have a “missile to deliver the payload”.
1. Is the plan to wait that long? wow.
2. Does any reasonable person think that Iran or any other rogue country is going to detonate a nuclear bomb via missile these days? No…even a hack like me knows that if we see a detonation (especially terrorist sponsored) it will come by much quieter means.
Very disturbing..
If you think that is “fighting the good fight”, then please tell me whose side you are on – Iran or the US?

Posted on October 11, 2012 at 11:35pmWow! That was some program!
I watched it on tv, and thought Biden came out aggressive, and Ryan came out reserved until the last 1/2 hour or so. Having said that, Biden came out with what i thought were lies sO big, they’ll be in the headlines tomorrow and maybe tonight on the Blaze. To wit –
Biden claims they were told by the State Department that there was rioting in front of the embassy prior to the attack, but if you recall, it was just yesterday that the State Dept. denied that. Also, biden said “we” were NEVER TOLD that Benghazi was calling for reinforcements long before the attack, and if you recall, Stevens “diary” was found just a few days after he was killed, wherein he wrote that he’d requested security and was refused on numerous occasions.
Biden also came off as being very disrespectful towards Ryan from beginning to end; however, the debate is not about personalities and I won’t be voting for the winner or loser of a debate. there is much at stake this time around, and I’m betting in favor of the bed I sleep in – my Country, and I’m not about to give the Gaybama machine a chance to finish us off – not with my vote.

Posted on October 12, 2012 at 12:02amI heard Colonel Hunt say today on the radio, the embassy staff was on the phone with the state department and the Pentagon, as soon as they came under attack. They gave them a real time account of what was happening for the duration of a 6 hour battle. The White House knew immediately they were under attack, but did not lift a finger to send help. As colonel Hunt said, the entire sixth fleet is parked near by, but the order to engage the enemy and save our citizens was never sent. There was a 6 hour window to act, but the order never came. There is no way in Hell the Obama regime did not know this was a terror attack (immediately) Colonel Hunt also went on to say that these conversations were recorded.
Personally, I think Obama needed to get rid of the guy who knew where all the bodies are buried. That is why no help was sent. Obama was trying to sweep his own Iran Contra type scandal, neatly under the rug before the election.

Biden is claiming there were no requests for reinforcements at the Libyan consulate. Since we know there WERE, is he a liar for saying the opposite? Probably not, but the poetic justice will be if he is labeled so anyway.
