Mitt Romney Visits Rev. Billy Graham: ‘Prayer Is the Most Helpful Thing You Can Do For Me’

MONTREAT, N.C. (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney met Thursday with Rev. Billy Graham, and the aging evangelist pledged to do “all I can” to help the GOP nominee win the presidency.
Romney went to see Graham and his son, the Rev. Franklin Graham, at the elderly evangelist’s mountaintop home in the mountains of western North Carolina.
“Prayer is the most helpful thing you can do for me,” Romney told the 93-year-old Graham.
The meeting came just days after Romney told a newspaper he would not pursue abortion-related legislation as president. Romney later insisted that he would be a “pro-life president.”
The Republican candidate said Thursday that Franklin Graham, also an evangelical leader, had been helping his presidential bid.
“What you’re planning, what your son has shown me, is going to be very, very helpful. And I appreciate that. It’s going to be terrific,” Romney said near the end of their 30-minute meeting. A handful of photographers and a camera crew witnessed the exchange, though no print reporters were allowed to see any part of the meeting.
Romney adviser Mark De Moss later said Romney and Franklin Graham had been discussing how the younger Graham is doing everything he can “to encourage churches to encourage their people to get out and vote.”
Romney’s embrace of Franklin Graham draws in an evangelical leader who has been criticized for his harsh views of Islam. The younger Graham has described Islam as evil and offensive and has said Muslims should know that Christ died for their sins.

In 2010, the Army withdrew an invitation for Franklin Graham to speak at a Pentagon prayer service because of what officials called inappropriate comments about Islam. At the time of the Pentagon flap, Graham said of Muslims: “I find what they teach and what they preach and what’s on the Internet – I find that to be offensive, too.”
Romney has faced some difficulty making inroads with evangelical voters, in part because some believe his Mormon faith means he is not a Christian. Earlier this year, the younger Graham expressed support for primary rival Rick Santorum, a Catholic. Pressed during an interview on MSNBC, Graham would not say that Romney was a Christian.
“He is a Mormon,” Franklin Graham said in February. “Most Christians would not recognize Mormonism … but he would be a good president if he won the nomination.”
Franklin Graham also apologized for refusing, in the same interview, to say whether he believed President Barack Obama is a Christian.
Some evangelicals have also been skeptical because Romney once supported abortion rights, a critical issue with the Christian right. This week, Romney told The Des Moines Register editorial board that there wasn’t any abortion-related legislation he planned to pursue as president. A spokeswoman quickly clarified his remark, and on Wednesday, Romney told reporters that he is running as a “pro-life candidate and I’ll be a pro-life president.”
The Thursday meeting with the Grahams wasn’t placed on Romney’s official schedule, though the campaign had for days planned a rally in Asheville, N.C., the resort town near the Graham home.
The trek to see Graham – up a mountain on a narrow road marked by one hairpin turn after another – is a political ritual. John McCain visited in 2008 when he was the Republican nominee. Obama also tried to see him in 2008, when he was in Asheville preparing for the presidential debates, but Graham’s poor health prevented the meeting.
The president visited Graham at his home in 2010, when the Obamas went on vacation to Asheville. Obama and Graham have also spoken on the phone.
At the meeting, Romney and Graham discussed religious freedom and religious persecution, Romney adviser Mark DeMoss said. DeMoss, who sat in on the meeting, said they also discussed the growth of Graham’s ministry in China, Sudan and North Korea. Graham also mentioned Romney’s father, George, whom the elder Graham considered a friend.
Romney told Graham the story of how his father died. “He was on the treadmill one morning at age 88 and he’s jogging on the treadmill and his irregular heartbeat caused him to faint and there was no one there to revive him and so he passed away,” Romney said.
North Carolina voted narrowly for Obama in 2008.

Posted on October 18, 2012 at 3:42amI find it interesting that many seem to think that this “Holy Trinity” somehow comes from the Bible when it was clearly started as a part of the Catholic Theology about 130-150 years after the death of Christ. Sure Jesus said that He and the Father are one, but what makes more sense: Jesus saying that He and His Father (and the Holy Ghost) are one being? or that they are one in PURPOSE having the same goals and desires of having His (God’s) children be able to return to Him through the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Envision this: Jesus IN the water getting baptized by John the Baptist, God UP in the heavens speaking Down to those He meant to hear His voice saying,”This is My Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.”, and then the Holy Ghost coming down in the FORM of a dove and alighting Jesus’ head showing symbolically and physically His Father’s approval and desire for Him (Jesus) to do His (God’s) will and be baptised. I don’t know about you, but when I read this in the Bible I get the DISTINCT impression that the Bible is describing # (THREE) separate and distinct beings, in 3 (THREE) distinct and separate locations: Jesus in the water, God in heaven, and the Holy Ghost in the air flying in the form of a dove.

For way too long we have allowed the founding principles of our nation, God’s principles, instructions and Godly wisdom to suffer abuse, correction and even abandonment.
America is under attack yet she can rise again in the strength of her people to lead with integrity, honor and righteousness.
Political correctness, diluted half-truths and blatant misrepresentations have infiltrated public reason and debate. Over the course of the last 75 years or so, common sense and traits of character worthy of praise and emulation have been beaten into shapes that no longer represent the essence of their former selves. In the process, Godly wisdom and spiritual insights have been watered down in such a way as to dilute the very essence of His message, and our purpose; both as a people of God and as a nation for God. By the Grahams endorsing Romney they have shown that they are not Christian in any way shape or form. They should have looked Romney in the eye and told him he is a cult member and thus lie about being a part of Christianity
Christianity is not about politics, it is about spreading the gospel as it’s only mission on this earth.
By them endorsing this cult member they knowingly support a servant of satan thus making them servants of satan. By their endorsement for this servant of satan they promote Mormonism.
Lets say Mitt Romney wins the election and since he is a business man he actually makes some solid business decisions which actually helps the secular apostate United States.
What would the affect be on mormon enrollment of new converts to the satanic cult be?
You see, there is much to the word DISCERNMENT. By the Grahams endorsement they will increase the membership of a cult and put that cult in a place of absolute power

Bush took over during a recession
That was followed by 9/11 which could have destroyed the economy
In 2003 after his tax cuts too effect, the economy was doing quite well/
In 2007, and democrat controlled congress took over
By the end of 2007 the economy had started to head south.
Bush’s biggest problem was that he sided with the democrat congress too much.

1. The mormon christ is a created spirit being that is a spirit brother to Lucifer
2. Mormons teach pantheism as in many separate distinct beings that are gods. The bible teaches monotheism. One God three personages. The Mormons deny the Trinity
3. According to the mormons that fall in the garden of Eden was a god thing
4. Mormon theology teaches that God started out as a man and evolved into a god
5. Mormon consider themselves as reformed Christians and Joseph Smith fixed that with the BOM (Book of Mormon) In other words, the Christian church is false and the Mormon version is the real Christian church
Mormonism has its own Hermeneutics and Eschatology and Theology and theirs does not match the Scriptures (bible)

Posted on October 12, 2012 at 2:02amIt sounds like what you mean is that the Mormons you have met are the epitome of the Beatitudes, which is very good, but there is more to Christianity than the Beatitudes. Mormons have fundamentally different beliefs about salvation, the Trinity, baptism, marriage, and the afterlife. To say that Mormons are Christians is like saying that Christians are Jews. Christians share a heritage and moral foundation with Jews, and both believe in the existence of Jesus, but that’s where the similarity ends. No serious person of either faith would agree that Christianity = Judaism. And most Christians, however much we may respect Mormons personally and appreciate shared moral teachings, see a critical difference between their faith and ours. There’s no justification for being nasty about it, but we simply are not the same.

What you consider yourselves to be is irrelevant if compared to scriptures (bible) If you read my previous comment I have laid out several of many of your beliefs that CONTRADICT the teachings of the bible
The whole of the bible is GOD BREATHED and means literally that it is from GOD whom is Jesus Christ. You cannot be in conflict with the bible and call yourselves followers of the bible.
Answer these questions
(1) Was God once a man that evolved into God. Joseph Smith taught this.
(2) Is Christ a created spirit being that is spirit brother to Lucifer?
(3) Is there three separate distinct gods polytheism or is there one God the three personages Monotheism
(4) Do you deny polygamy is taught in the D&C as a key mormon doctrine?

Another four years of Obama’s Guidance and we are done with. As George Soros says , it’s only America standing in the way of complete redistribution of wealth around the world. That is exactly what the bible teaches, Christ is going to return and when He does it is to make war against a Christ rejecting world.
It was man through the lies of satan that man rebelled against God.
This is a process by which God coming in flesh (Christ) that rectifies the situation and allows people to become believers (Romans 10:9-10).
This is the remedy, if a person denies the remedy then that person will stand before a Holy and Perfect God and be judged. Being Holy and Perfect means He (God) cannot judge in anything less than Holiness and Perfection.
So, you either accept Christ or you reject Christ John 318 and it is just that simple.
The bible is a full 1/3 prophetic and to date it is 100% accurate. In short, you have been told what will happen BEFORE it happens.
We have been warned again and again about darkness pretending to be light and Mormonism, Catholicism SDA, JW are all darkness pretending to be light.

What do you think will happen if Obama gets his way with extreme taxes on the rich? It won’t pay the 16Trillion dollars in debt we owe #1, and # 2 we will have our own mass Exodus. The Federal Reserve is not owned by the Federal Govt. and we owe them over 5Trillion dollars, and Obama has recently given then the okay to print unlimited amount of paper money to hold up the economy until after the elections. I’m going with the man of God. Would you rather die and find out there is a God in whom you have believed or NOT. Personally I would rather find out that he exist, and that I believed, than he exist and I had lived my life as if he did not.

Posted on October 11, 2012 at 8:11pmi like mr. graham and i like franklin he tells it like it is. romney being a christian, i think he is he believes Jesus is the son of God and saviour. God works on hungry hearts not mans instuitions. muslims have to recognize Jesus as the son of God and saviour to be saved.

Posted on October 11, 2012 at 8:09pmIf the Grahams were honest brokers, they would endorse Romney as well as the Constitution Party. The Constitution Party is the only party serious about fixing the financial problems AND pro-life positions

Posted on October 11, 2012 at 8:01pmThis shows the deceptive nature of the Grahams. If the Grahams have supported Romney’s bid then they will, by their actions, show a favorable light on mormonism and help in the spreading of a cult
Where has the discernment gone?

Romney may be Mormon, But his morals are more aligned with Christianity than BHO’s Islamic ties.

Better I spread the Gospel Romans 10:9-10 than vote for cult members. The cards are on the table. The dice die has been cast. This country is about to be shredded to pieces by God for our meddling in the Middle East and dividing the land of Israel for the sake of false peace

Man, your list of un-Christian Christians gets bigger every day. If you buy nonfat milk, you aren’t Christian. If you like Ford, you aren’t Christian. I would love to see this secret Christian checklist you have, that would be helpful. All I go by is:
“Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.”
Jesus is the Lord.

It is not a check list. it is scriptures. The scriptures themselves teach what is and what is not of Christ. In fact, it is by scriptures alone that define this and whatever anyone else claims about their Christ contradicts the scriptures then it is not Christ.
It is scriptures that teach satan can appear as an angel of light and that we are not to be deceived but be bereans and check everything with scriptures.
