RNC Chair & CNN Anchor Brawl Over Romney Comment — Ends in Accusation of Media Bias
Chairman of the Republican National Committee Reince Priebus on Thursday got into a bit of a testy exchange with CNN’s Soledad “Talking Points Memo” O’Brien, the former accusing the latter of treating left-of-center issues with kid gloves.
The back-and-forth was sparked by O’Brien questioning Priebus over Paul Ryan recently telling reporters that voters would find out more about the Romney campaign’s stance on abortion during the debates.
“I see the flap over this ‘Des Moines Register’ question, but, there’s nothing there there,” Priebus told O’Brien, noting that both Romney and Ryan have expressed their pro-life views on numerous occasions.
“You don’t think so?” asked the perpetually furrow-browed O’Brien. “Well, let’s walk through that because I doubt everybody knows it. So, let’s play a little bit of what Mitt Romney said to the ‘Des Moines Register.’ Because people are talking about it. So, I’m not sure there’s no ‘there there.’ Let’s play that first.”
The CNN anchor then proceeded to show an extremely short and heavily-edited clip of Romney talking about how he wouldn’t “pursue any legislation regarding abortion,” followed up by a seemingly contradictory quote from Romney campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul, and then concluded with a clip of the GOP candidate saying he’d defund Planned Parenthood.
“So, ‘I’m going to remove funding from Planned Parenthood from my budget,’” O’Brien said, quoting Romney. “That would be legislation. The first clip I played, he said there will be no legislation in regards to abortion that I’m familiar with that would be part of my agenda. That sounds completely contradictory to me. How’s it not?”
“Well, listen — you spent all this time setting up the question and I appreciate that,” the RNC chairman replied. “But the fact of the matter is that what he’s referring to is whether or not there were piles of legislation in the Congress, what specific bills in the Congress in regards to abortion are you going to be pushing over the next four years –”
“– Reince, that wasn’t the question,” O’Brien interjected.
The conversation then turned into a “who-can-talk-over-the-other?” match, ending with this line from Priebus: “I wish you would be as passionate about taking Barack Obama to task for every one of his promises and for every one of his changes that he didn’t follow through on over the last four years.”
Soledad defended her record.
“Which we do all the time,” she said, “But I gotta’ tell you, we’re going to ask tough questions of everyone. I don’t care what side they’re on, honestly.”

Posted on October 11, 2012 at 1:33pmENCIDIOT…can you tell me where exactly Romney is lying? Romney said he’d cut wasteful government spending as part of his plan to reduce the debt that Obama’s exploded and to balance the budget something Obama was voted down on unanimously TWICE in the Senate. Obama’s budget by the way added $3trillion in new spending.
Cutting money to Planned Parenthood is cutting wasteful spending. Romeny said he’d cut wasteful spending. So how is this a lie? The organization does not divulge what funds it uses to cover abortions. If Planned Parenthood’s abortion budget is dented..oh well that’s too bad. It keeps it’s numbers intentionally murky anyway. Time to take Planned Parenthood off the tax payer subsidized list.
So where’s the lie again?

Posted on October 11, 2012 at 1:46pmAn executive order is not hardly even called “legislation”. Romney is specifically talking about whether his platform is pursuing any new “act” of the legislative branch of our government. That is what is generally considered legislation. He’s saying no to that at this time. It doesn’tmean he’s not pro-life, and it doesn’t mean he will not support future legislation on abortion. How is he lying?

I know NO ONE politician who doesn’t lie: it’s their “nature” since they must satisfy as many as possible completely different people.
What is really important is how dangerous, deceptive and destructive a lie is.
From this point of view, the lie constantly emanated by Dems is a lot more dangerous.
Let alone it stinks more than any kind of feces.

My President Obama is a Prince and never lies. People just get confused sometimes when he speaks because he did not present it well enough for Americans to understand.
My President did not lie about Libya. The killings in Libya were the result of a riot that got out of control just like Prince Obama said. It all started in Cairo with a riot and by the time it spilled over into the compound in Benghazi – the rioters had watched this viral video online with their Apple Ipads, and picked up rocket propelled grenades, heavy machine guns, mortars, a tank, and a nuclear submarine. No one could have seen this coming.
Everyone needs to vote for My President in November. Obama just let me trade in my Obama-Phone for a GM Volt at no cost to me. Its easy, all you have to do is be on the welfare to get one. This Obama-Volt Model comes with a extra long extension cord so it can reach over to your neighbors house for a charge. Dot for that Romney – he is the sucks and will take your extension cord away.

Romeny said he’d cut wasteful spending. Planned Parenthood is seen as wasteful spending, especially since they intentionally muddy their books to hide what portion of their tax payer funding goes to abortions. Perhaps if they were more responsible with their book keeping they might save themselves?
It’s time to let Planned Parenthood stand or fall on it’s own.

I don’t see you bashing your precious anointed one over losing lives in Benghazi, whereas Amb. Stevens was asking for help, and was denied. Does that not bother you, to have an American in a foreign country asking for help because he was in fear of his life? Does it not bother you that Obama stated, there never was, is nor will there be a war or terror or islam?

Posted on October 11, 2012 at 1:57pmIts hard to even want to respond to the childlike rhetoric coming from these fools. If you want to call Romney a liar then put your proof in your post. Just remember that Obama changes his mind also. Deciding to be for gay marriage wasn’t Obama lying just like stopping wastful spending isn’t Romney lying.
If you want to see what a lie looks like look at the administrations propaganda about what happened in libya. Well placed and often repeated garbage about a movie that went on for over a week before the heat got to be too much and the truth started to be told.
Thats what lost Obama the debate. he wasn’t able to lie and get away with it and the media wasn’t there to help him.

What ticks me off is that CNN is so worried about abortion but can’t even notice that 20 million folks don’t have a job or have to work part time because of Obama Care. If Obama had spent as much time on producing jobs as they did on healthcare, Obama could win re-election in a flash. This registered Democrat voted on Hope & Change! My sons, their wives amd my wife don’t like the change and have given up hope. We all have or know someone thats has been affected by Obama and will vote off party lines. Romney’s defunding Planned Parenthood that’s a good thing.
It’s useless spending on an organization that’s partisan and duplicitous with how it spends the tax payer dollars it receives. There’s no contradiction with Romney’s platform of reducing government spending and taking tax money away from Planned Parenthood in fact it’s an affirmation of it. If their abortion budget suffers for it..TOO FREAKIN BAD. Why don’t you start up a Planned Parenthood charity Soledad?
